I'm going to attempt to make the infamous rock garden

Wish me luck. Since most of my island is pretty much filled by paths and items, I don't think it's going to be nearly as time consuming and difficult as it usually is. Now that I'm doing the mannequin placements, I don't really see it as any different than placing paths down in New Leaf to plot reset. Only difference really is in New Leaf, there were no cliffs. So it's not really any different.

I think this a good challenge, especially for someone like me who has zero patience. Anyone else attempting or has done this?

i literally have no patience when it comes to decorating lol
however my rock garden took me less than a day to make (spawning the rocks not the decorating, that part took a while)

i didn't want to make one after hearing my sister complain about how hers took weeks to make
but i ended up making one and it was actually easier than i thought ☆

good luck! I did it when my island wasn't all that decorated which in hindsight was a mistake.. i had mannequins covering my island for WEEKS. it was definitely worth the end result though, I think the rock circles look super pretty and it's just overall a lot nicer on my island than having them scattered all over the place

Thank you guys. I think it will definitely be worth all the work in the end. I decided to do a wood farm with just hardwood trees and so the idea to do the rock garden also came into play so I decided to give it a shot.

Mine took a couple of hours with TT.

I'm kinda over it now.

It's a boring circle in my cemetery now. LOL

Good luck though. It isn't hard, just get those mannequins out there.

Yeah, it really isn't that difficult. Just watching anime and throwing mannequins down. Basically on auto pilot.

i did mine without TTing, so i dreaded it whenever i would find a rock spawned somewhere i missed but it's honestly not that bad. since you already have a lot of things place down that can't be 'spawned' over like paths, that makes it ten times less tedious for you.

if my sister is ever interested in a rock garden, i'll be using TT on her switch because ohmyfeck. i can't imagine her wanting a bunch of mannequins around for over a week with all the spots i'll miss

I did my first one using fences instead of mannequins. It wasn't that bad. I kept missing spots and ended up TT to speed up the process. If I were to do it again, I would honestly just pave everywhere that I didn't want a rock to spawn. It would be really time-consuming, but so much easier to control where they spawn!

that's exactly why i don't think my sister would be fond of me taking my time with it she's eleven, so. still at that stage where things creep her out, and an island of mannequins would be one of them.

Fencing probably would have been easier to use instead of mannequins but then running out of fencing would have been a problem and then the clean up would have been even more so.

nope, i have plenty of materials/bells at this point and if i did need anything i'll ask my sister (she gives me NH stuff in return for NL bells) ☆

Alright my island is filled with mannequins. Find out tomorrow if I got everywhere.

I used to not bother with getting materials from the rocks because I was too lazy to search for them all over the island but since they will be in the same spot, I think I would make more of an effort to collect the materials now, especially iron since that's the material I use the most of.

Since my island was heavily decorated, moving my rocks was super easy. I didn't use mannequins, though, I just placed rock paths on any area that I didn't want them. It was a lot easier IMO.

Though, I didn't really make a rock garden- my rocks are scattered since my island has a more natural theme, but I still wanted to decide exactly WHERE they were scatted

1 rock will spawn per day. So if you break all 6 rocks it would take 6 days for them all to respawn

I did this last month. It took a few hit and miss attempts to make sure I had all unwanted options covered, but it isn't horribly difficult. I eventually got tired of dodging mannequins, so I blanketed my island with a blank pattern (snow was on the ground, so it didn't look too horrible). I did have to scuff tiles up, but it gave me something to do after all my chores were done.
