I'm going to attempt to make the infamous rock garden

It worked!

Unfortunately, I decided yesterday to move the rock garden down and over a bit. But I got sidetracked because I had to go to work and forgot to do so. So I had to smash that one rock to move my garden over. But on the plus side, at least I know I covered my entire island.

After a month, I managed to finally to get it done. Between changing the location of the garden, and the rocks still finding the one spot I missed to spawn at, I'm never doing this again. Now I can finally get rid of all the annoying mannequins scattered across my island.

I decided to just use this thread I already started instead of starting anew one.

Yes I did this before redoing a major section of my island that was previously filled up with items, paths, and plants. It was super easy for me to do since I only had to do the mannequin trick on one small area and I TT'd to speed up the process. I had one problem though- my last rock would not spawn in the correct area (I think it had to do with the trees surrounding it) but I was too impatient to fix it because I wanted to stop TT'ing, so I just settled with it being one tile off. I think eventually I'll fix it but I am honestly in no rush to now.

But yeah rock gardens are awesome because In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, its really convenient to farm stones (unless you have flowers or items surrounding it of course). My rock garden is surrounded by custom paths so it works out for me really well

I made my rock garden really early on and don’t quite love to placement of it because I put it so far forward on my island but I absolutely refuse to redo it

Yeah, the last rock tried respawning everywhere but where I wanted it. The fact that I was terraforming and moving stuff around while trying to move my rocks was probably not helping since I kept forgetting to put the mannequins back. And yeah, it does make it look a lot nicer and organized, and it does make it easier to farm materials.

I visited your DA to see what you mean and I don't think it's too far forward. It actually looks really nice. I like how you have it decorated with the fencing, bushes and bamboo.

it took a few hours for me to get it right when i did it, which was a little bit of a pain. i missed a few spots that the rocks kept spawning in and i didn't realize that trees cover more area than the eight tiles around it, it also takes up tiles behind the tree, and i had planted a tree in the middle of my rock garden. got it in the end though and the result is cute!

Congratulations!! I'm doing it right now and I just had to start over bc I found out I had placed everything too close to a cliff and had to shift all one tile up.

Honestly since my island is mostly decorated it did not take me that long to put out the mannequins, maybe an hour? My bigger problem is that the mannequins are both making it impossible to move freely around the island and absolutely TANKING my frame rate, so I can't really play until this is done. The good news is I don't seem to have missed any spots; so far the rocks have only spawned where I wanted them to so four days to go!

Yeah, the rocks insist on spawning in the one spot you missed. It gets a bit frustrating.

It is worth it. And yeah, the laying down mannequins can take a bit of time. But in the end, I'd say it's definitely worth it. I put my garden next to my Resident Service and I'm putting my house next to the rock garden as well, so that when I first log on to the game, I can go to the rock garden, farm money and materials, then head to Resident Services.
