Is anyone else miffed that you can only have on island per switch?

I know, I know, 'it's a console, that's the way they are'
But I have a list (a short list, 2 inch list but still) of namesand themes! Now I'm trying to decide which to use. :C
I've been so spoiled by having 3 towns.
meh. feh. I still need to actually buy a switch.
Once I see how things are, I can work with it but I hate not knowing and trying to plan it.

While I planned perhaps to make a second town one day, I don't have such a big problem with the fact
that you can only have one island per Switch. Overall, I only took care for one town the whole time. It's
still a shame however for those players who wanted to have multiple towns/islands.

Nintendo lives under the impression that people share Switches. In reality, most don't. Even my nephews 5 and 4 each have their own Switch.

I don't think Nintendo intended for players to own more than 1 character in any Animal Crossing game. It's always been about sharing the town. Their goal here is to share the town with upto 8 Family members (up from 4).

Thank you, paying for another regions games's still cheaper than buying another switch.

I've always liked that they tried to make it a family thing, it's makes it a much cozier game.
If my family played animal crossing, I wouldn't mind so much, but I tried to get my brother his own town, he played for 2 weeks.

I'm glad we can have 8 profiles, I probably won't use more than 2 (if that) but a lot of people like making side characters.

Not sure if I?m understanding right, but does that mean you can have up to 8 people living in one island? The map would have to be much much bigger to accommodate 8 people, 10 villagers and possibly buildings too. This pretty much confirms the Treehouse map to be demo.

Yeah it kind of sucks imo. From a personal standpoint, I've only played New Leaf and I only have one game, but I understand how frustrating that would be for players who maintain multiple towns. It doesn't really seem fair? If a player wants to buy another copy of New Horizons for another town, they should be able to do that. But that just isn't the case anymore unfortunately.

hmmm... i don't think it's that much of a bummer. the island is huge so we'll have lots more space (multiple themes on one town?). and even then there are workarounds. as lars708 said

There is a workaround however! The Switch will recognize the same game but from different regions as two different games! This means that you can have two save files of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For most people here it'd mean that you'll have to get both an American copy and an European copy of the game. That way you can have two towns without having to buy a second Switch console.

and on top of that, soft hacking your switch will get rid of this problem. just hack it and (without doing anything illegal like piracy or hacking things into the game) just use a save manager to switch different saves onto the game whenever you want. i've said this a couple times and i'll continue to say it because, while i don't think hacking your game is straight-up a good idea, hacking a switch to JUST get a save manager is a good idea.

The island is not huge. Not even close. Big maybe, but not Huge.

It's really kind of small, even if you pay attention to how quickly players get around in the 24-minute gameplay. It may be slightly larger than New Leaf, but not by much. Plus, a good percentage of the map is all ocean.

Somebody out there tried to esitmate the space, and it came out smaller than the Gamecube/Nintendo 64 map.

ok gotcha....

Yeah, it kinda sucks you can only have one island per Switch, but I don't play more than one town, so it's fine with me. I feel bad for other people though. Some people have secondary towns to play with because they completed their first town and wanted to do more, but their first town was already completed. :/

i figure that even though we only get one town, that allows so much to happen in that town. the town is ever changing and can always be made better, especially in new horizons. this might also let people slow down and not focus on getting their town done as fast as possible.

I don't need multiple towns so I'm ok. However I feel for everyone who this affects.

If that's true then that's honestly,, pretty concerning tbh. ;; I've been worried about the island feeling crowded because we already know that up to 8 files can be made so... hm. Makes me wonder if expanding will be an option (I don't know how that'd even work and it seems kind of farfetch'ed? but I just thought I'd throw the idea out there). I'm just gonna have to trust Nintendo and see what'll happen. ;v;

Totally agree. I like to play my games as slow as I can and not complete them like you know, in one week. Sometimes it just feels nice to take it nice and easy. I'm sure there will be lots to do in the new game, so there may not even be a reason to have more than one island. :)

Someone said to softhack the Switch, but I heard hacking the Switch has become much harder now, so that may not be an option?

It is kinda upsetting that in order to get multiple towns you have to have multiple consoles (I'm not even gonna mess with all that region stuff, sounds too complicated for me) esp since the price of a Switch will not be going down ANYtime soon. I mean, the price for the 3DS consoles hasn't gone down any, despite the fact that Nintendo has said they are no longer making games for the 3DS system. I really enjoy having multiple towns, but for now this doesn't effect me so hard. The reason I got my second town was because my first was done, and I got bored with the town since I felt it was so hard to theme. So, I'll dedicate all my time to my first town, learn everythin and years down the road maybe I will be able to get a second switch and game, who knows.

This is a similar situation to City Folk. You could only have more than one town there by buying a whole other Wii console. With that in mind, I don't have a problem with this rule.

we already know that up to 8 files can be made so... hm.

Is that a confirmed fact?

Nah. Except that the only thing that worries me is a big backlash on sales, unlike New Leaf and Wild World. (Where multiple towns could be possible on one 3DS) You can't with this.
