Is anyone else miffed that you can only have on island per switch?

Yeah when me and my brother got the switch when it came out, we already had pre-ordered botw before, and he immediately started playing it. He would be playing hours on end everyday for so long, I hardly got any time to play. Especially since he plays a lot of different games on there, as I do too, as we are both addictive gamers as well lmao. I had to wait a while before I even got a chance to play, and when he finally beat the game, I was able to play as long as I wanted, as he was mostly on his computer. And now, we’re both stoked for ACNH, but this whole “1 island per console” just doesn’t seem fair at all. He said that the island was gonna be his and he’s naming it and basically taking ownership over it. There goes my island name ideas and town themes. He even said he’s gonna be playing it like 24/7 so the only good thing is that multiple players can play at once.

P.S. You guys should each buy a game you want to make it fair. :) It wasn’t as challenging for me and my brother as we both wanted botw, super smash bros ultimate, super mario odyssey, etc. Also botw is really fun, I already beat it by now and let me tell you there’s so much to do, graphics are amazing, the amount of detail they put, and it’s just so good. Also super smash bros ultimate is the best when you have a lot of people playing, as I have so many cousins and relatives I can’t even count, they’re always at my house and when we play it together it’s so fun. Just letting you know so you and your brother can stick with your game ideas haha. Also, good luck on the schedule, I hope you guys find a good way to share (unlike my brother)

Well, I've just heard rumors, ( just wispy rumors!) that there maybe a switch mini, that's something like a psp. They are supposed to be cheaper than an actual switch.
Probably like how they released the new 2ds for $140 as a slimmer version (without the 3d) of the new 3ds that was $200+
So I'm hoping that there will be, so we can both get out own.

It doesn't bother me. I've bought additional copies of ACNL in the past and always sold them on within a couple of months. I couldn't find the time or enthusiasm to dedicate equal attention to more than one copy.

and i figure that new horizons is going to be a big expansion on what we already know, with so many opportunities to add things to our island and play in ways we haven't thought of yet. so we might just want to focus our attention to one copy of the game.

maybe this will kill off the mindset of achieving the perfect town and then moving on.

I have to admit, this bummed me out. I know I'll have a LOT of time with my first island before I'd even think of having a second, but I love that refreshing feeling of starting well, fresh after a long while. I have 3 NL towns (restarted more than that) for that feeling while waiting for the next big entry. I really hope the fact that we're being forced to have only one island will be made up somehow? :c

Wait wait wait. What if you have two user accounts on your Switch? Are you saying only ONE account can make their own island and the other account can't?

Yes, this seems to be the case. One island per Switch, not per account.

My brother and I always played on the same console when I still lived at home, so this would have been a bit of a problem back then. I loved that we both had our own town on the Gamecube, and we'd always take turns playing for an hour or so, and then switching and watching the other play for an hour. Ah, good times!

But now that I've moved out, we both have our own Switch and fortunately won't have this problem. I do live with my boyfriend, but he's never played AC before. Planning to introduce him to the game but he'll just have to deal with the fact that it'll be my island. :lemon:

Well, I guess I can live with this fact, although I originally planned making a second island at some point
before I heard the news that you can only have one. But overall, I think it's better for me to only have
one island so can give it all my attention and make the best out of it.

I am not miffed as I am the only user of my switch and I have no need for multiple towns :)

I'm only bummed out because my whole family (parents and brother) used to play Animal Crossing for the Wii together and it would have been cute to do the same with this version of the game, but in a way that everyone could have had their own island (mostly to avoid conflict lol). Guess I'll let them stay on my island!

This doesn't really effect me as I usually only make one town, but I do wish the option was availabble.

yeah i share a switch with my sibling and i'm kind of disappointed. i usually avoid all confrontation with everyone, so i'm not gonna tell her 'don't run on the grass' and 'set up your house here' and 'don't do x' just because i want a pretty town... i'm considering buying the second regional copy as per lars708's method, but as a teenager, it's kind of a lot of money (especially with the game being twice as much as new leaf when I bought it)

KeatAlex Dose Everyone say the word Dummy to you? Just to see if your Icon and photo get man and try to kill them?

I?ve always preferred dedicating all my attention to one town, as it feels more special to me that way, but I definitely think people have a right to be upset about it.

i see people mentioning how it?s annoying for those who wanted multiple islands. While that does suck, what about those who have 1 switch and 1 or more siblings that r also interested in ac? cuz that doesn?t just mean sharing an island; it also means sharing ur vision for ur island, ur ?creative freedom? with siblings, and if u don?t see eye to eye..... heh good luck (Im in that boat)

tbh this is the only news about nh that?s left me disappointed as everything else has been amazing.

Oh me too, my island is gonna be themed around music! And as much as playing together with my family will be fun, I don't want a cramped island messed up by siblings! My younger sister is 8, will be 9 before nh comes out. She's enjoying pc right now, but has never played a mainline ac game. I think she would LOVE acnh, but I would really like my own island without having to share! It is likely that she'd be the only one I'm sharing with (my dad doesn't play the switch on his own so he couldn't play ac, and no way in heck is my 5 year old sister getting a shot at it!), but my mum might want to, she used to like pc until she lost her data and stopped playing, it just depends if she has time for it. So maximum, three people I would expect. Not too bad, I had four saves in new leaf. But, I feel for people in big families!
It is possible that I could solve this problem by getting a lite of my own, which I want to do anyway, start my save on the lite, and have everyone else create their island on the switch. Then, I could transfer my save to the switch when I want to use the TV and it might mean I can have my own separate island?

I think it will eventually be a problem for me, because I didn't want a second town until I had already spent years working on my first New Leaf Town. By then I'm sure they'll be another switch in my house that I can hijack a profile off of for a second town.

Yeah.
I have really bad commitment issues and when I see a town better than mine, I get discouraged and want to restart my town. I guess I'll just have to be really careful about where I look for inspiration. :p

Hm, I would say yes, but I'm planning on purchasing a Switch for myself (or my brothers), depending on who gets to keep the one our mother bought us for Christmas... lol. So, no? I'm not sure yet @@;;

I can see the argument for both sides. On one hand, having only one town makes it more special and important. It's supposed to be the one town you change and look after over time. On the other hand, not everyone likes to play the same way and having a multiple towns option is a great way to explore different ways of playing the game. I have two copies of New leaf so I understand the desire for having more towns! With the game being (presumably) very expensive I totally understand your frustration.

I don't mind. In fact, one town/island is plenty enough for me. I don't understand how people can maintain three or four towns at the same time.

Although, I'll admit that it's a bit of a bummer if you're sharing your Switch with other people.
