Is this abuse or am I just in the wrong here?

Almost in all of these situations, your workplace will side with your leader. It sucks, but it's the truth. Corporate America and the job industry gets away with a lot of stuff and our government allows it mainly because they're part of the problem.

Even going to HR is like asking for a bullet to the head. HR will almost always favor those in charge because well they're also in charge of HR.

Give him a swift and mighty kick in the nads, but tell him he can't call out no matter how bad they swell. See how well he likes that.
