Last week, I crossed the 100 vacation homes mark. And I thought I'd put together a montage of my top 10 favourite ones. It wasn't that hard to do, surprisingly enough, because I know what I like and I remember how I felt when I was furnishing these homes. So that's the criteria for my choices: hitting the brief, using colour schemes and themes that I like, and feeling good about the end result.

I like default-size homes. I like non-symmetrical presentation. I like contrasting colours. I like warm tones. I love gyroids. I like a variety of shapes, tones and textures. I also like repeating motifs. Last but not least, the satisfaction I feel when I complete a room, when I'm convinced that I cannot do a better job, is important to me. I had enjoyed myself tremendously furnishing all these homes! Speaking of enjoyment, I also had fun building a vacation home for Stu today. He wanted a "woodsy" theme.

Today, I built 3 vacation homes. They were for Marlo, Piper and Puddles. My favourite one? Furnishing Puddles' home. I decided not to use her brief of "cute, lovely stuff" because I'm tired of using cute, lovely furniture. I wanted to give her a home that is full of soft, round shapes and soothing peach and green tones. 💚

So I ran into Miranda and offered to build a vacation home for her. But she wanted a gym. I was like, what, why a gym? You're not a jock. And I've already built more gyms than I cared to. I didn't want to do another. So I offered her a home using a theme I would decide. She said, yeah, sure! Yet, in front of Lottie, she paid me a backhanded compliment. Are you trying to get me fired from my job, Miranda? 😑

Today I learned that the game will not display more than 999,999 poki even when you've earned more than that. 😆 In other news, I built two vacation homes today. One was for Jeremiah. I first met Jeremiah in AC: Wild World. There's a snapshot in my head where Kiki had a conversation with Jeremiah and it did not go well. She actually burst into tears and called Jeremiah a jerk. 😅

The other vacation home was for Weber, who wanted a "pro musician's pad".

Meanwhile, on the main island, the snow has been coming down hard! Which is the complete opposite for me in real life. Growing up, I remember December being an especially cold and rainy month. But in the past handful of years, it's been nothing but baking heat and climbing humidity. 😩💦

An apple-themed vacation home for a little hamster called Apple? I don't see why not. 🍎🍏

Raymond was feeling pensive today. I wondered what he was contemplating. How the blanket of snow made everything so pretty? If the water in the pond would freeze over so that he could try out that pair of rhinestone studded ice skates he'd bought because it was truly love at first sight? Or perhaps he wondered if it would be unseemly to use the hot soup on his butt which was ever so slightly starting to freeze and stick to the ground?

Curlos was looking for a vacation home with an "eternal toy day" theme. I've already made a Christmas themed home for Daisy but I'm glad I went ahead with Curlos' suggestion because, with it, I've unlocked a few new items in the ornament series! The thing that caught me by surprise? The giant ornament. It's... REALLY GIGANTIC. 😆🤨🤪

The other new item I really like is the ornament table lamp. So cute. (Curlos' expression cracks me up.)

When I got back to Littlestar, I just had to tell someone about my adventure with a giant ornament. Raymond and Claude were at the plaza so they were the first to hear all about it from me. 😊

What a busy Toy Day it has been! I delivered all of Jingle's presents and exchanged gifts with every islander. 🎁

To anyone reading this, please allow me to wish you a safe and memorable Christmas filled with festive cheer and laughter and a brand new year filled with happy surprises. 😊

Your photos are amazing! You've definitely given me some inspiration for my photo journal. (Which I'll start when I have a better island)

Zell wanted a hotel look with elegant furniture for his vacation home. I didn't want that. Now that I've built over 100 homes, I prefer not to be subject to repeating themes. If I stick to only the game suggested themes, I know I'll get bored and give up on the DLC. So, in the forseeable future, I'm likely to be using mostly my own themes so that I can try colour combinations/items/styles that I haven't done before, to keep it interesting for me.
dec27-hhp-zell1.jpg

I usually use bright or contrasting colours. This time, I decided to furnish Zell's home with minimal colour. I wanted subtle, quiet tones. To keep it from being boring, I used a repeating pattern.

It was only after I'd finished and was staring at my own screenshots that I realized Zell's horns have blended right in with the decor. 🤪

Gonzo visited me today. He wanted to see every room, so I gave him the grand tour. Then he said this.
dec29-gonzo-react2.jpg

That's all the encouragement I need! I'm re-doing his interior. Gonzo is an older single guy who likes an understated decor style and pickled turnips. No fancy gadgets. The essentials are all there: bed, stove, DIY table, sofa. Everything is easily accessible. Tomorrow, I'll ask him what he thinks of the new look.

A mochaccino cute little squirrel turned up at the campsite. I'm asking her to move to Littlestar. 😊

Today I made sure that I visited Gonzo to see if he liked what I'd done for his new house decor.

All's well that ends well! 😊

I received a brewstoid from Brewster! This means my gyroid collection is almost complete.
dec29-roost-brewster-brewstoidon51stday.jpg

I lack just two: the whistloid and the bendoid. Keeping my fingers crossed I'll get them soon. I will continue to drink my daily cup of coffee at The Roost. I miss those days (in real life) when I could look forward to a hot coffee in the morning and then a hot coffee after dinner. Heartburn is a terrible curse! 😩

Bluebear turned up on the HHP island and I wanted to build a vacation home for her. She needed a place to "prepare sweets and treats". This reminded me of Bettina, who already has a patisserie for her vacation home. Ah, my lazy resourceful brain thought, wouldn't they make the perfect roommates!?

The new year is just 3 hours away. I'll be celebrating with everyone on Littlestar. 🥳

Had a blast at the countdown party last night! There was plenty of cheering and dancing! 🥳

Sylvana, our newest move-in, was out and about this morning. She's such a cute little mochaccino squirrel. 😊

I visited Wendy. I worry about her sometimes. 😅

I've harped on my obsession for glowing moss balloons and how I was going to make a gazillion of them for my island. Well, this is the progress so far! I like it. This is the area I had cleared out for the balloons. It's clearly not enough. I need more. I think I should populate all of the space atop the cliffs with balloons. Get rid of all the flowers. I want to see glowing moss balloons and nothing but glowing moss balloons. As far as the eye can see.

Oh my god, Lolly's and Sherb's houses are perfect. The festivale stuff is so much fun to play with
