Mafia June 2020 Mafia Game Thread [DAY 2 ENDS AT 6/20 5PM PST]

i don't see this as feasible in the long run. judging people on past games/giving too many free passes is going to be our downfall as town. mafia's like poker, people change their tells. i've seen "meta" used too much as an excuse to believe it to be true with everyone


this last point is rubbing me the wrong way. no eliminate steers against town. this in addition to mentioning needing to check pr earlier in the game:

I did explain why I mentioned that option in the first place to Shawo when they mentioned the same concern. I was going by emotion, mostly, and realized after typing it up that going no elimination will only harm us since that means we have absolutely no chance to take out scum rather than the small one we have now. I only vaguely remembered a host of my first mafia explaining that not getting a kill on the first day would be bad for town but not the reason why until I worked my brain a bit harder.

The real reason No lynching is bad is because we don't have any information we would gain over the night. If there was no ninja in the game I'd probably be all for a no lynch, because that puts pressure on the mafia to kill and mess up with a tracker in the game.

Yes I know there's a chance it's not there, but no point in risking it.

You don't know that! Maybe they found it useful and you are assuming they didn't like where is this coming from, what do you want to achieve, you are getting sus by the minute, please show how actual reads should be made, then, If anyone, including you have question ask away, and will try to explain, but until all other 15 player say your reads sucked, don't assume. you are digging a hole bigger than mine, at least for me.

the game usually picks up by seeing people's attitudes towards wagons and deaths so I still think a D1 lynch is still good. most times it ends is a ML but its what pushes the game forward

Ace your reads list is fine, it's expected from a newer player and the effort is very much appreciated, so kudos. That being said Ace, I don't necessarily agree with a lot of your reads, people see a text wall and assume effort = town, which is ironic coming from me since did the same thing but whatever. I don't think the people praising your post even read the full thing, they just saw their own name in green and let it pass by.

Glow: "town leaning for most" > "My read SCUM leaning"
Shawo: Your stance on glow; "I honestly started the wagon randomly", then your reasoning for shawo "I didn’t liked them voting for me at all, at that point I wasn’t even sus, so it was really uncalled for", seems hypocritical, you randomly voted glow but shawo can't randomly vote you? Also Toads OMGUS'd shawo, so that point is completely wrong.

Aerious is the only scumread which I think has decent reasoning, but it's day 1 so obviously having proper reads isn't highly expected. Just some food for thought.

i'm exhausted so summarizing some thoughts before i sleep:
bianca has shifted slightly towards scum-leaning due to the bait about description about role from radical6, claiming meta for not posting reads (not a viable excuse imo, idc if meta), then finally posting little. also the freudian slip pertaining to epona "both of us can't be mafia again" for epona being town.
ace has shifted to town-leaning due to the contribution. i'll admit i think was wrong here prior and more than likely focusing on details that don't matter
i still feel the same way about sensei/punchy. i don't like evasiveness when everyone else is contributing -- inc ace

mafia isn't played in a vacuum, if you know someone is upset by something you said... throwing in an acknowledgement of that will help them understand your side better than hammering your point in. This is kind of a good life lesson rather than mafia, but eh. Were all analyzing things and we all do it differently.

Thank you for posting it such a polite and refined way, without going after other, I appreciate the advise.
For you to understand how I work my reads, I look at complete scenarios, so I don't like leaving nulls, unless necessary, sometimes people will fall in town/scum, based on others and to fill the spaces, Pinkshade being the example, but I wouldn't feel good, if I don't have 4 mafia, since it is the number I believe we are playing against, form the possible roles, I think 2 goons, 1 ninja, 1 role blocker. So that is way I do my reads like this.
