Pokémon Legends Arceus General Discussion

I’ve made it to the third area but have paused on progressing the story line to backtrack to previous areas in order to fill the Pokédex and complete a bunch of side quests.

Last night I was heading to Lake Verity in order to complete the Pokédex entry for the Magikarp side quest and well this happened. There wasn’t a mass outbreak either so full odds shiny?

has anyone else completed the unown 'quest'? i'm a little disappointed that you don't seem to get anything from completing it. unless i'm dumb and missed it.

i'm a little surprised so many people are saying they're underleveled. i spent a bit of time (enough to perfect five pokedex entries) in the first area, but half my team came from there while i was already in the second area, and yet i was 10-20 levels ahead of everything i encountered for the rest of the game. still had pokemon faint a bunch though, mostly due to bad type match-ups because you throw out whoever is in the hot bar instead of the head of your party rip. i suppose if you follow the story and don't hang around though, it makes sense.

also turns out i was right about volo lmao. i knew they had bad vibes.

There should be no reason people are underlevelled, unless they're trying to get through the story and go to the endgame. I'm in the 4th area and even though I could challenge Hisuian Electrode I choose not to. I'm currently an 8th Star and halfway to 9th Star so theres benefits taking your time. Most Pokémon games are designed for you to go immediately to the post game. I like Legends because there really is no rush. There's no PvP so I can take my time, fill out my dex and capture good competitive mons so I can maybe use in the future. Also, if you want to grind to level up theres an alpha Blissey in Obsidian Fieldlands that's a good punching bag.

i'm usually the type to prioritize story, but past games didn't have as expansive a pokedex -- you only had to catch the one pokemon. the completionist in me wanted to perfect at least a couple of entries before i progressed, and i think that's what got me 'overlevelled'.

also, apparently the final satchel slot costs 1m ?????? the heck

I have to admit, graphics aside (I'm no graphics gamer but seeing the grass blades glitch back and forth whilst the trees remain static is... distracting, to say the least), I think I prefer Legends' format to the regular games! Being able to catch Pokemon so easily makes it a lot of fun.

And shinies.... I LOVE the mass outbreaks! I've managed to grab 5 so far, and one of them is a shiny Zoroark! I've finished most of the requests, most of the dex, and I've deliberately left my game at the big Volo battle. I wanna wipe the floor with that one.

My only gripe about the game is the battle system - I get how it works and all, but nearly everything is faster than my team with this system. It gets frustrating watching your speedy monster get destroyed because the two opposing Pokemon had two turns each. Four turns before you get one (and I didn't even use a Strong move!) gets real boring, real quick.

Same! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it. Although my suspicions were mostly how often he just happened to turn up wherever I was. You following me, Volo? Apparently so.

Okay I maybe sounding dumb when I say this, but I discovered a way to store the items away. Basically if you go into HQ which is the place you sleep in in Jublife Village you will see a box on the right side and basically what that is an item storage.

I have to admit I didn't even know that was there the first time and I spent like 8 hours in this game not knowing this and I feel dumb for selling my items. Also if you're by the camping area the Item Box is also there right by the tent where you take a rest. I hope I'm not the only one who discovered this.

I managed to get a shiny Mantyke with a Bold nature. I thought I was so lucky since I've had terrible luck with Alpha natures. I think the mass outbreak method is the way to give us shinies since breeding isn't in the game. Legends so far has been the best. I'm also taking my time and completing my dex and like you I want to be overleveled so I can kick Volo's butt

not gonna lie to you, volo almost got me lmao because i went in with two random low level pokemon i was evolving and two of my main team fainted, thinking the game would auto-heal them for the battle ajdkfmfg. my max revives came in clutch.

Yeah, Outbreaks are the best method of shiny hunting, since an outbreak gives you +25 "rolls" on a Shiny Pokemon. So its roughly 1 in 170.

I am definitely more of a casual player, so I'll leave the discussion on where this falls in terms of other games to others. :) I'm quite enjoying it and finding some of the battles to be challenging.

Most of my time is being spent exploring, completing tasks, and working on my pokedex. I'm going slow and not rushing through things. Working on getting my 3rd star, so I can check out the new area, though I'll wait a bit on attempting the boss battle.

I just checked the professor's board last night and did the 3 quests there - marauding Bidoof trio in the village, Drifloon playing on the beach, and the unusual Ponya. I have a standard Ponyta in my party and captured the alpha Rapidash that I thought I'd slot in, once I hit 3 stars, but now I'm thinking the shiny would be more fun to have.

I've been playing since release day, and I'm playing frequently, but casually. I'm working towards my fourth star and filling out my Pokedex. I do continue the story/missions as soon as I'm able, but I'm not rushing to do so. I really enjoy how Pokemon I've never been able to get previously are available and I've already managed to catch some of them. My Pokedex is 107 seen and 77 caught, including 4 alphas.

I think the "disobeying" Pokemon only applies to traded Pokemon, so the Alpha Rapidash should listen to you, unless you are refraining from using it to not be "overpowered."

Then you can ignore this reply. ;y

Thank you. I did think I had to wait a bit to use it. I may pull it out tonight. If nothing else, I can sic it on some wild Pokemon and fill in the dex page. :)

apparently you don't get anything for finding all of the old verses either smh. pls, i hate sidequests that don't reward anything 😭

A recent photo collage of my progress

Me and Hisuian Goodra. I don't know why people don't like it. Other than not knowing Flash Cannon its really good.

was trying to farm a cherubi mass outbreak for the shiny version because it's such a rare spawn and ended up running to a full odds shiny psyduck instead 😩

Photo collage time!

I finally found a Jolly Sneasel and evolved him today! All my mons other than Typhlo (has Mild) have competitive natures. It takes awhile to find them but I don't mess around.

I found a Cherubi! PSA: Cherrims can't be caught in Sunshine Form. This is apparently a glitch that hopefully they'll fix in a future update. It is a quest after all...

I found two Timid Porygons in a dimensional rift. Going to get all dex checkmarks for the both of them.

just in case anyone else is as stupid as me, turns out you can change your target in (at least) wild battles by pressing ZR/ZL. only saw it prompt me to do so for the first time yesterday rip.

So I just started playing yesterday, and while I'm only a couple hours in, I already am hoping that Pokemon games continue in this direction. Whereas in past games I would try to avoid the repetitiveness of wild encounters/trainer battles as much as possible, in this game I'm actually seeking out wild Pokemon to battle and spent a decent amount of time just running around doing that. I haven't progressed much in the story so far, but I'm really enjoying the game and am glad I ended up getting it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who might be on the fence about it like I was.
