Pokémon Legends Arceus General Discussion

You can also obtain the Linking Cord in the time-distortion areas! I managed to find one, along with some other evolutionary items (Dubious Disk, stones, etc.), within a distortion zone that spawned in the third area. It seriously saved me some MP c:

I know! I just found one several minutes ago and I evolved my Machoke with one. I also managed to find a Protector yesterday so I know they could be found there, its just I always seem to find Shards and Stardust before getting bombarded with distortion mons. I like doing the MP quests because I can also scavenge materials for Potions since I seem to use them a lot.

would anyone like to recommend this game to me? I obviously haven't gotten it yet but my friend had it and he says it's the best Pokemon game since ORAS/BW. I said that's a bold claim but I'm not one to doubt him because we have a lot in common and we like a lot of the same stuff so I'm thinking if he liked it that much then I might as well.

my favorite things to do in these games are collect Pokemon and shiny hunt, and as far as I'm hearing this game really encourages collecting and had an interesting shiny hunting mechanic. I'm thinking about getting it when I get paid next, but what do you guys think of it?

Do you like Breath of the Wild? If you do, you'll pick up on this game very quick because it has a lot of similarities. I really like this game because its whole different take on Pokémon. Many of the things that I found hassling about Pokémon were replaced with better things. Some of the game mechanics are different. For example, flinching and confusion aren't in the game and statuses are different as well. If you hate IV breeding, you'll definitely like this game because those aren't in here either and the new system is so much better. The difficulty is pretty hard the further you are in the game and Pokédex completion may take awhile. I definitely recommend this game. If you're not sure, ask your friend if you can play their game for a little bit before you decide to make a purchase.

I wish I could borrow his but he actually lives 6 hours away so he would have to mail it to me lol. also I have played a little bit of BOTW (played the Wii U version for about 4-5 hours) and I liked what I saw. I suppose if I end up not liking it I could trade it in for something else but I think I may get/like it because I've heard basically nothing but good stuff (except, of course, some of the horrendous Pokemon designs lol).

i'd definitely recommend it! maybe my word isn't very good because i actually enjoyed USUM and SWSH, but this is definitely a super fun experience too! you're free to do whatever you want and can interact with the story at your own pace. there are lots of sidequests alongside the main storyline (i don't know about post-game; haven't gotten that far yet) to keep you busy, you no longer have to trade to evolve although it's still an option, the world feels more... alive? like, all the NPCs have their own unique names, and the models are reused less egregiously. the are really fun and unique, there's a really neat sidequest that's like a scavenger hunt. shiny hunting is kind of "busted", but in a good way. i managed to catch a shiny teddiursa using the new method despite not having a completed pokedex entry for it or the shiny charm. (odds are, like, 1/158 or something using this method.) the 'rival' is way less in your face and more... normal, if that makes sense? i actually like him. (still wish i could have a female rival though lol.) the lost and found is super cute too! i love searching for people's missing stuff lol. it's my favorite feature along with finally having a proper ginger hair option, even if the hairstyles themselves aren't great. god bless hisui.

obviously i do have some complaints, like having to submit research every time you want to return to the village, and some of the later areas being so open and large that they're overwhelming to me (especially with a lack of checkpoints to travel to), and sometimes people/pokemon in the distance will drop frames massively (namely the flying pokemon and an NPC in one cutscene) but it's not game-breaking stuff.

if anything needs putting in a spoiler, let me know.

trying to get an alpha buizel to spawn for that one request is draining the life out of me

I was interacting with my Gengar and decided if I could send out another mon. It just so happens that I was right! When I sent out my Dusknoir, the two began chatting with each other. My recently evolved Dusknoir is probably saying how it was weird that the Reaper Cloth that evolved him was dropped by another Dusclops.

So I am like 2 hours and 30 minutes into this game and so far I can say the game is really fun and the gameplay is so good though. Just sneaking around and catching Pokemon stealthily is really fun. Although I will say that the Alpha Pokemon are pretty aggressive and something to avoid if you're unleveled. Just a warning stay away from them at all costs they are dangerous!

My only complaints so far is that the tutorial was so long. Seriously its 2022 and we still can't skip tutorials? Ugh I hope they address this in the next Pokemon game. Also why can't we transfer our Pokemon from past games onto this game. Did they just forgot about Pokemon Home is a thing? I will agree with everyone else that the graphics are not really that great and the textures are pretty bland.

So yeah I am enjoying the game so far.

After much internal debating if I was going to buy this game or not, I finally ordered it from Amazon as the price of the physical copy dropped to $50 and I had a giftcard to cover some of it! I’m excited to start, I’m happy to see people are enjoying it. :)

does anyone else find it weird that your profile picture just. never updates? is it an option in the photo studio, or does it just stay as the default combo you picked at the very start? super bizarre choice if so, especially after the cute trainer cards from swsh.

I had the same debate in my head trying to decide if I wanted it. Thanks for posting about the price drop. I tried getting it today at Walmart since they had it for 50 but all the stores in my area are out with no way of knowing when they will get it. Now I can just buy it from Amazon.

I don’t know how I feel about the open world style of gameplay? I prefer the older style of games. I haven’t played a Pokémon game in years though (since Black2/White2).

just finished what i assume is the main storyline, so here are my more spoiler-y thoughts post-credits, particularly about the last act.
  • the boss music for dialga slapped. it was just straight up bumping lmao, i lowkey felt like i was in the club. that being said, did its battle feel easy to anyone else? easy by comparison to, say, electrode or even avalugg.
  • i'm kind of bummed we didn't actually get to see and/or participate in the festival, and it wouldn't let me screenshot the art of it after the credits. lame.
  • throughout the game, i did wonder what the point of the massive rocks were in the lakes. glad i was able to find out asdfghjk.
  • i'm surprised the commander gave in so easily.
  • the 'reveal' of potato mochi guy actually surprised me lmao.
  • the unown sidequest is actually really fun! i translated all of the clues (yes, without a guide lol) as soon as i got them, and i only have five or so of them left to find.
  • i highkey thought volo was gonna be, like, arceus's humansona or some weird arceus cultist or something just because of a) the fact that he looks similar (he's a blonde white boy; arceus is white with gold regalia), b) how he acted and knows so much about myths/legends, c) how he was always conveniently there for us and d) how he didn't refer to himself as a merchant. (a more obvious one.) but maybe he's just an okay guy? idk, post-credits he wants to meet up with me so we'll see, but i've got my eye on him. he's sus.
  • i'm still kind of bummed that hairstyles all lowkey suck. why are they pretty much all short? also, one day i hope 'redhead' becomes an option at the very start because, come on, we are out there lmao.
  • i love that more houses appeared in the village halfway through. i had to do a double take when i first ran past them lmao. thought i was going crazy.
  • i'm glad crafting isn't as much of a feature as i dreaded it would be.
  • i really like wanda and her brother lol.
  • the story actually got to me a bit. it felt like there were actually stakes (although i found it a bit unbelievable that dialga would just sit at the temple waiting for us to make the origin ball) and i loved seeing the clans come together and get along. there were no characters that got on my nerves or made me roll my eyes other than melli, and the ending cutscenes were really great to me!
  • the pearl clan outfit you get post-credits is super cute. finally, some good clothes ajdkfkgk. (/j the wyrdeer kimono shirt and white winter coat are cute too.)
  • love all the 'qol' updates. not having to trade to evolve, no complicated ivs, mass releasing, being able to select time of day, changing and learning moves whenever you please etc.
overall, i only have a couple of complaints, which i mentioned previously, but none of them ruin the game or anything. i wish your profile picture could be updated/changed. it did in usum and swsh. flying pokemon drop frame rate hard at a certain distance, and so did an NPC sweeping in the background of a cutscene. a few times when fighting pokemon, the grass would, like... jitter. having to hand in your research to return to the village every time is annoying, especially since it drags a bit. the last two areas were a bit too open for me, and i felt really overwhelmed trying to explore them fully. i know a lot of people hate the hand-holding set path games, but even just more base camps would've helped this issue for me. that's it though!

also wyrdeer is cracked lmao. in the crimson place, i just used him to yeet myself over the river and access certain pokemon earlier than i probably should've lmao. i also used him to brute force my way up some cliffs i probably should've needed sneasler for.

I beat the game, minus catching all Pokemon, because I just really wanted to replay the game as the female character for a change since I was enjoying the game so much.

But, I decided to play this file a bit differently: complete as many research tasks in an area before I can't proceed much at all before moving onto the next area. To say the least, I've only just reached the second area, the Crimson Mirelands, and I have only caught and explored the second area for about an hour total so far since I'm still finding things to do in Obsidian Fieldlands.

I am on my Sixth Star rank, my team is constantly swapping out minus two permanent members, being Samurott and Kleavor. Those two are level ~37.

Honestly, it is really fun playing like this.

Man, just running around I have found two shiny Geodude and a shiny Staravia. Probably gonna use the Staravia for a bit.

I’m still in the second area. You guys must have really enjoyed the game if you’ve already beat it, LMAO. I’ve switched out my Haunter for a Murkrow and named it Tokoyami as well, since it makes more sense (and I know a certain @Nefarious would appreciate this, haha). It’ll be good for countering Psychic types that Hisuian Decidueye is weak to. Other than that not much more progress. I have to become Third Star Rank before being allowed to move on. Thankfully I’m only around 600 points or less away. Time to play some more!

i'm still in the second area too despite playing for like 20 hours + haha, just been enjoying hunting around and exploring every inch of the map, despite that i don't even feel like i'm over levelled at all, my problem with the main series is that it's just too easy, i like how everything in this game is more of a challenge, also i found a shiny eevee and i'm rly happy about that 🥺 💫 (he's a syleveon now)

man i hated that, the minute i gave up searching i had it spawn (not saying a lot because i was searching for hours)

Just finished playing for awhile and my team has gotten a lot stronger.

I managed to enter a second Space-Time Distortion field and found a Dusk Stone AND a Magmarizer, which I used to evolve Tokoyami into a Honchkrow and Magmar into a Magmortar. I also finished grinding enough MP to get a 1,000 MP item, and got a Thunder Stone so Kaminari could evolve into a Raichu. Ashido evolved into a Gastrodon as well, and Midoriya evolved into a Hisuian Decidueye after quelling the frenzied Lord Hisuian Arcanine. I can’t go to the fourth area yet until I reach Fourth Star Rank, but I think I’m going to slow down for awhile and focus on fulfilling requests and completing dex entries.

Your character looks so silly in Sneasler's bag hehe

i'm a little surprised so many people are saying they're underleveled. i spent a bit of time (enough to perfect five pokedex entries) in the first area, but half my team came from there while i was already in the second area, and yet i was 10-20 levels ahead of everything i encountered for the rest of the game. still had pokemon faint a bunch though, mostly due to bad type match-ups because you throw out whoever is in the hot bar instead of the head of your party rip. i suppose if you follow the story and don't hang around though, it makes sense.

also turns out i was right about volo lmao. i knew they had bad vibes.
