An0nn! thank you so much ♥♥♥

Now that my temp job is over I'm thinking of doing a big update here, we'll see how long it takes me to actually write it down. I got a surprising amount of stuff done on my days off that I'm very excited to share!
Looking forward to it!

Hello, hello, hello! Don't mind me, sneaking back in here after over a month...

I am excited to write here though, this temp job/internship took much of my time this September, but I still managed to play a bit on my days off and I'm pretty happy with what I've been able to accomplish on the island.

I've talked about this before, but I do enjoy not feeling compelled to play for hours on end and exhaust every bit of space I could work on, collecting every single DIY and special item as soon as possible. And having less time to stress about that kind of FOMO type stuff really allowed me to focus on specific areas and take this 'revamp' project very carefully and calmly, trying to balance ideas outside my comfort zone with stuff that I find to be very classic me.

I took a lot of inspiration from other islands I see here and around the internet, and started experimenting with waterfalls, less strict roads and pathways and trying to make each villager's area more unique and interesting.

I hope to make some more posts discussing other stuff that happened while I was gone (including one extra special boy who just moved in...) but, for now, to celebrate hopefully being officially back on this thread, here's a little tour of all my current favorite areas in Lenù, so we can all get reacquainted...

To start things off I thought I'd do a little 〜Town Tour, but unfortunately Roald didn't think that was a worthy enough endeavour to justify him standing up...

The early fall grass and morning skies have really tied the different elements of my town together, I finally feel like it's all starting to make sense as something unique and truly mine...

I love the way the orange flowers, the brick paths and all the fences have been looking, I've also been experimenting with making some indoor/outdoor areas, like the post office on the bottom left and Kiki's bakery on the bottom right...

Also, new color scheme is white and orange hyacinths, yellow and green mums and orange and yellow pansies, just in case that wasn't terribly clear lol...

I'm still sticking with the City Folk plaza inspiration for my shopping district, but I'm considering tweaking a few aspects of it to make it look more “towny” and active. It's feeling a little rural at the moment which I appreciate but if The Roost gets added, which will hopefully happen soon enough (I AM LOOKING AT YOU Nintendo!!) I'd like to make it feel more like a busy town center.

And finally, the last bit of new information I'm gonna hint at now is that one very special little guy moved in a few of weeks ago, and I spent the last couple days working on his home area... I'm very happy with how it's turning out

Wow it looks so good! Seriously, you've mixed some unusual elements (like the spaceship and the lion dogs) with these sort of nostalgic and comforting small-town vibes. Everything comes together really well and the result is both gorgeous and unique. I'm seeing some pathways I don't think I've seen anywhere else, did you design them yourself? The train tracks are beautiful. The villager yards are beautiful. Wow. Do you have a dream address? I would love to visit if you do.

I recognize that special little guy's house:) Congratulations on finding him!

Thank you An0nn, it really means a lot! ♥😊

After being on animal crossing twitter for a while and seeing their obsession with 'aesthetics' and 'cores', I decided that I would just stick with the stuff I appreciated individually and try to make it all work. That's how you end up with an UFO and some lion dogs in the same area haha
I just think they're neat 😌

I don't have a dream address yet because the island is still painfully incomplete... But I might make an exception in the near future... Let's just say I've been sweeping a lot of extra hybrids and random DIYs under the rug lol

I didn't make any of the floor designs, and the train tracks are from this user:

I think tomorrow I'll probably write a bit about how me and my special lil guy reunited... I won't lie it was very cute

And thanks again for always checking in with me here ♥ Appreciate you ♥

Good morning! This is going to be an Erik appreciation post, so get ready, it's gonna be a long one...

erikacnl4.jpeg

Me and Erik go way back, so let me tell you the very sweet, only slightly embarrassing story of just how important this little deer is to me.

Back when I was a kid playing New Leaf for the first time, I didn't really understand the function of the campsite. No, it didn't cross my mind to Google it or anything... I just viewed it as an expensive, useless building that didn't even look that cute.

A couple of years later when I was a bit older and decided to restart my NL town I saw some inspiration pics online and planned a special spot for the campsite and all. After I built it the first villager to show up was Erik.

erikacnl2.jpeg

As some of you may know, the deer villagers were a New Leaf addition, and since I had never had the campsite before and the game didn't have a spot like City Folk had with the city plaza where you could meet different villagers, I had never even seen a deer villager before.

Imagine my shock.

It was love at first sight. I loved his little eyes, his little antlers, how cosy his color scheme was. He moved in and was the first villager I ever made a special home area for. I placed a little hammock and some fruit trees. Seeing him enjoying that space filled me heart with love... ♥♥♥
When I think about it, it's actually crazy how genuinely happy he made me. That little picture of a deer would show up on my screen and I would irl smile to him... It's crazy.

erikacnl.jpeg

When I got New Horizons I knew I wanted to try out having different villagers, but I made exceptions for Kiki and Erik because the simple desire to not have repeat villagers in my two towns was not enough to keep me away from them. You just gotta to do what makes you happy, you know?

Since I had adopted Kiki through the forums here, it felt very important that I found Erik myself. I found island hopping to be a lot of fun so I wanted the sense of achievement of finding him through that method. As some of you may know from my posts here, I had no luck in that pursuit.

But I didn't give up. I didn't have a lot of time to island hop anymore but I was still saving NookMiles for when one of my other villagers decided to leave.

So, on the morning of August 29th I had already started my temp job, though at this point my schedule was still a bit more flexible than it would be in the following month. During this period I knew I couldn't play a lot of AC, but I still had time to check in with my villagers each morning. When Isabelle mentioned there was someone staying at the campsite I didn't think twice about it, and it's actually surprising that I went ahead to check who it was because I always forget to do so.

Imagine my shock.

Erik: 🧃👀

That was the moment I realized the insanity of how happy this little deer made me. I was so excited, I swear, I almost cried. I even told my dad about it. He obviously didn't understand but I think even he noticed it was a big deal to me.

The way our brain can attach very real feelings of nostalgia, love and joy to fictional characters, images and media is really interesting to me. I can genuinely say that I love him so, so much.

So yeah, this is my very dramatic, very sincere account of how me and Erik reunited last month. He (or, well, the algorithm...) decided to randomly bless me one morning by showing up at my campsite when I least expected him just like he did years ago in New Leaf...

Naturally I spend the last few weeks following him around and taking pics, giving him cute outfits and working on giving him the home area he deserves, so I'll leave you with a little photo dump of all that...

I'm glad you got him! That's so lucky, having him just show up in the campsite like that. I had something similar happen with Sherb, but much less exciting. After semi-casually checking mystery islands for him and then giving up he just waltzed into my town the very next time I had a camper.

My number one dreamy was Savannah. In nh I was really excited to invite her to my town after being neighbors for a very short period of time in nl, where I met her as a camper. Unfortunately, in nl I was one of those somewhat deranged control-freak mayors who would reset for hours (sometimes even days. Once weeks  ) to get all of my villager plots in the perfect spots. With Savannah I dropped the ball and forgot about my highly anticipated new arrival. So the day that she was due to place her plot, I neglected to log in on a new character so I could reset for placement and she managed to choose the single worst spot in the entire town. Seriously. I tried to make it work. I bent over backwards, but the best I could get it looking in that location was just slightly less bad than awful. Finally I got fed up and let her leave. I do not miss that random plot placement one bit.

This. omg

I was exactly like that. I remember resetting for days so I could get Julian on the right spot. It was madness, I also don't miss that at all. Also if you got a really bad spot and let them leave you had to cycle through 16 VILLAGERS to get them again 😓 I get stressed out just thinking about it haha

I'm glad you got her now under a less tense situation 😅

Hello!

As you may or may not know, today is her day... Yes, her, the light of my life, my sweetest moonbeam, my pretty little heirloom, Kiki.

kikibirth.jpeg

With most of my favorite villagers I can always explain what is it about them that make them so special to me. Like with Eunice I have this nostalgic attachment to her from my City Folk days and with Erik I have this 'love at first sight' appreciation for having discovered him all by myself through the game.
But with Kiki... I don't know man, she's just so cute! LOOK AT HER

kiki.1.jpg

For some odd reason too she's one of those villagers you can't help but project this really unique personality onto. I feel like the “normal” or “sweet” personality has gotten so boring over the years but when I see Kiki and Eunice hanging out I just feel like they're so different.

I feel like she's nerdy but not in the obsessive way, she's more basic even though she'd be very particular about the basic stuff she enjoys. She likes crime shows and is really into spooky stuff even if they make her sleep with the lights on... I don't know, stuff like that. Those big round eyes just make me imagine this very deep inner life for her...

Now that we've officially entered spooky season I think it's only fair to celebrate her as well 🍬 🎃
I haven't gotten all the spooky set yet but I do plan on making her a perfect trick-or-treating area around her house!

For now, enjoy a couple of our best moments together, me and my ultimate comrade, Kiki.

Good morning, friend ♥

Today's a quiet day. I wanted to make a post here mostly because I just officially updated all my introduction posts, including my island map as of 10.10.2020. A lot has changed and lot is still going to change, but I'm loving the process so far, so I wanted to reintroduce the 〜island vibes〜 for anyone encountering this journal for the first time now.

I kept most of the writing because I still think the headspace I was in when I started writing here is valid and, honestly, kinda cute... lol

I included in the introduction post what's probably my new favorite photo of Lenù, featuring my best boy Erik. I did edit it a bit to match the Moonrise Kingdom header, so I'm leaving the unedited version right here.

Lastly, I'm reposting here my re-introduction to my residents, I decided to do a little 'tag yourself' game instead of the sentimental little descriptions I used to do. This was truly a lot more fun to write... I recommend doing it for your own villagers!

Hello, friend! Another quiet day in Lenù...

These windy, sunny afternoons in AC have been doing me so well. It's been kinda mimicking my IRL weather actually, which is funny because I live in the southern hemisphere and my island's on the northern one... maybe that's cos there's no climate change in AC...

I've been working on my Big Lake™ these past couple of days. I wanted to do it for so long, but I never found a good spot for it that allowed it to be as big, bold and beautiful as it deserved to be, you know? It's not finished yet, I still have a lot of flowers to get rid of and a bridge to pay for, but I intend on posting an update all about it soon.

I also maybe〜sort of〜kind of figured out where all the villager houses are going to be... That has been a problem to me for a while, I even reached a point where I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to fit all of them, but I think I've figured it out now.
The thing is, I don't yet have all my dreamies, but I'm very fond of all my villagers for now so I'm trying to get their pictures before I let them go. Specifically, my non-permanent residents are Whitney, Apollo, Roald and Hans. I love them but I also wanted to have some other villagers in their place in the future, so I've been making specific yards for the villagers I'd still like to have like Tasha, Teddy and Henry...

I'm considering leaving the tenth spot as a rotating one so I can meet different villagers too... We'll see.

So yeah, things are coming together, terraforming wise. Can't wait to show more when it's looking less bare and empty lol

Now, please enjoy these two cute and wholesome moments I had this week:

First off, Kiki FINALLY decided to try on the Mae Borowski sweater I made ESPECIALLY for her MONTHS ago!!!

kiki borowski.jpg

The way I gasped when I saw her... I made that sweater the first week of playing this game, everyone else has worn it at some point except her.

Night in the Woods has inspired quite a bit of the overall 〜vibe〜 of my town, so this feels like a v big achievement 😊

Also this morning I bumped into a snoozing Erik so I knew I had to recreate this photo of us back in our New Leaf days...

Hello, hello...

Been having some lazy days this past weeks... But I mentioned I'd talk about the Big Lake™ so here I am. First, a confession: I have, once again, lied to you. Big Lake™ is now Medium Lake™ 😔
Disappointing, I know, but it was a better fit for the island.

big lake.1.jpeg

Big Lake™ is a big investment and it's hard to pull off, Small Lake™ is boring (I have so many already!) but Medium Lake™? Now that's the amount of commitment I am willing to make.

(also yes, I have become a person who exclusively uses the white frame for screenshots)

Even if it isn't as big or majestic as the lakes that inspired it, I still think it's neat. The water sits perfectly still, it's a great spot for getting pond fish, the little pier works perfectly and I love the wooden bridge.

big lake.2.jpg

The area surrounding it is also coming along. On the other side we have the campsite, still a work in progress. Then I'm placing a house in each side of the lake and a little Halloween surprise up on that hill on the right... 🎃 Let's see if I actually get it done in time for Halloween though... You know me lol... 🎃 🎃

Still thinking if I should name it... But maybe calling it Medium Lake™ is already extra enough lol

I hope I can put together some more screenshots next time, there are a couple new things I'd like to share but I need to get myself together and stop compulsively changing them every time I look at them for too long. Same old... Same old...

Still a pretty big by ac lake standards. It looks like a peaceful place to spend a weekend afternoon:) Though to tell you the truth I've never been the sort to ever deliberately spend my free time outdoors. But if I was, I would absolutely want to hang out at Medium Lake!

I love your wooden bridge too. I just added one to one of the more rustic corners of my town last night and I'm crazy about it.

A dream of Elysium...

Back when I started this journal the first person to interact and support me here was @An0nn from Elysium. The care and love they put into their island and what they put on their thread inspired almost every aspect of this journal, and I feel like their kindness is probably responsible for the sense of camaraderie that I feel for everyone else who posts here.

So when they posted their Dream Address I knew I HAD to visit. There was no other option.

I'll divide this into exteriors and interiors because there's just so much to see! I'm also putting some of the screenshots under spoilers in case anyone wants to experience all of this wonderful dream by themselves!

The first thing I'll say about Elysium is that it's so incredible how all the different areas mix together. You can have beautiful downtown plazas, breezy beaches, rivers lined with flowers and spooky hill cemeteries and it all still feels like part of the same identity.

Elysium.2.jpg

The use of hyacinths, stone fences and the overall color palete (which looks so beautiful at night...) makes the different areas look cohesive and yet surprising. I like the winding paths and the shared villager yards, you never know what to expect so it was a lot of fun to explore! I barely even used the map I just went with where looked more interesting and ended up exploring the whole island like that!

Elysium.3.jpg

I'm also such a sucker for the small town vibe... The streetlamps, the brick paths, sets of iron garden tables and chairs... The brick bridges 😍 🧡 ✨

So many of the areas in this island I could see myself sitting down with a good book, maybe under a tree, maybe on a bench, and just chilling...

elysium8.jpeg

One of my favorite lil nooks was here by Tasha's house, which is especially sweet since she's kind of a dreamie of mine! The lighting looks so cozy here.

I went inside to talk to her and she totally flirted with me so I think we're meant to be 😌

But, as far as exteriors go, my favorite area has to be Promethea's house.

Elysium.4.jpg

As I mentioned in the last post, I'm planning a little spooky area in my town, and everything about Promethea inspired me so much. I love how cozy and welcoming the rest of the island feels and how mysterious this house up on the hill looks... Always been a fan of mixing up traditional Animal Crossing cuteness with eerie or creepy elements like that. They go together surprisingly well.

10/10 on those spooky Halloween vibes 🎃

Her house also had my favorite interiors, but I'll have to post them on another post later because it won't fit here lol

A dream of Elysium...

Okay, so I know I probably shouldn't be making a two-part post about my Dream of someone else's town, but I really mean it when I say that I had the best time ever exploring Elysium lol ♥

So, for brevity's sake and in an effort to make you, reader, want to check out An0nn's journal instead, I'm keeping it simple and I'm only sharing screenshots of my favorite interior, Promethea's house up on the hill.

All the houses are really well themed and unique so I highly recommend checking out for yourself. I'm leaving the photos under spoilers for that reason!

I'm focusing on the rooms to the right and left and on the second floor because they were my favorites.

First off, the study.

promethea1.jpeg

I looove the lighting here. It feels warm and lived in while still making it seem like there could be something lurking in the shadows... I love the simplicity of it too. Very Bly Manor.

Next, my favorite, the theatre.

promethea2.jpeg

The way my jaw dropped when I saw this! So creative! I literally have never seen anything like it.

I don't even know if the screenshot does it justice. The atmosphere in this room alone is worth the whole trip I'd say. With the little street organ and the big organ, the curtains, the lights, this looks like it was taken straight out of a horror video game. Honestly it wouldn't have surprised me if some creepy little puppets came out from behind that tree standee to sing me a creepy little song.

I love love love this room.

Finally, the second floor room with it's immaculate Frankenstein vibes.

promethea3.jpeg

This is the best inside=for-outside room I've ever seen. Again, the lighting is perfection, and the drama of the stormy-night wall makes it feel very wet and muddy and like you just wanna finish digging up this corpse and get out here, Igor!!! (That was a Young Frankenstein reference, sorry for that)

I'm looking forward to visiting more islands now that I have the time.

So, stay tuned for my exploration of An0nn's incredible interior design talents! I swear it's unlike anything you've ever seen!
(seriously An0nn, how do you even come up with that stuff?! 😍♥)

I leave you for now with a glimpse of Him, the Eldritch horror that guards Elysium... Sherb 👀

He might have his eyes shut but he's aaalways watching!

I looove the lighting here. It feels warm and lived in while still making it seem like there could be something lurking in the shadows... I love the simplicity of it too. Very Bly Manor.

Next, my favorite, the theatre.

View attachment 328386

This is the best inside=for-outside room I've ever seen. Again, the lighting is perfection, and the drama of the stormy-night wall makes it feel very wet and muddy and like you just wanna finish digging up this corpse and get out here, Igor!!! (That was a Young Frankenstein reference, sorry for that)

Really glad to share this little corner of the internet with so many creative and kind people ♥
I'm looking forward to visiting more islands now that I have the time.

I'll see you all around, sweet dreams!

Wow! Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think that you might even have made my island look more appealing than I did; your acnh photo skills are enviable.

I'm genuinely touched that you took the time not only to visit, but to write such an amazing endorsement. Thank you again river:)

Hello!

fog9.jpeg

Yesterday morning I was blessed with some of that elusive “autumn fog” I've seen people talking about... So I figured it was the perfect excuse to introduce some new areas I had been working on since everything looks so mysterious and beautiful in this weather.

Since placing that UFO near my entrance I've been wanting add more unexpected elements to the island, kinda inspired by Twin Peaks and Gravity Falls. I've always loved the idea of small american towns deep within the woods hiding strange secrets... Maybe Lenù can join that canon someday...

Elysium.4 (1).jpg

I came up with this little labyrinth that I plan to use as entrance to my haunted mansion/house/cabin (that will depend on how many bells I'll be able to raise in time for Halloween... 👀)

And then, below that, I finally found a good spot to try and put together a rock garden. At first I didn't really know how to go about it, but since the island is around 70% decorated it was pretty easy to get all the rocks in place. It was a great decision because I've been using it everyday to get materials. Once I can get my hands on some mushroom DIYs I plan on decorating this whole area with some lanterns and stuff like that.

fog4.jpeg

This spot here's my attempt at an abandoned cave... On the right you can see what's going to be a big paw print carved into the mountain, from a big monster or something... I saw this idea online but couldn't find who came up with it. I'm still finishing the last details to make the whole area come together, but the fog made it look so good I thought I'd share it here now.

Yesterday I also said goodbye to one of my OGs, Apollo.

I invited him from a Nook Miles island back when I was only starting the game. He was just too nostalgic to me so I couldn't miss the opportunity, and the cranky villagers have always been my favorites.
He happened to ping me only a couple of days after giving me his picture, so I let him go. We had a good run together.

Too bad we didn't get The Roost in time for him to enjoy a hot cup of joe like he did in the movie...

1. Ava 🐔
2. Sally 🐿️
3. Deli 🐒 😍 cute
4. Kidd 🐐
fun fact: used to have a vendetta against him in NL because he placed his house right in the middle of my main road...
random plot placement was fun!

fun fact nº 2: another one I had a vendetta against, this time it was from City Folk, but I had no idea what made me hate her so much back then 😂
17. Norma 🐮 again...
18. Shep 🐶 😍 💘 💕

Shep was a smug I had considered before sort of deciding to go with Henry, but he was such a pleasant surprise I decided to take him!

Also, you know, we were wearing matching outfits so I didn't have much of a choice...

I've never had a dog villager before so I'm excited to see if I'll bond with him, who knows, he might become a permanent resident after all!

I love Shep, I had him in one of my nl towns. Agreed that random plot placement was the absolute worst.

The autumn fog was such a pleasant surprise! I had no idea that weather pattern existed until I started seeing other people post pics of their foggy towns. Wonder how long it will last? It really suits your town, by the way. Very pretty/mysterious.

Thank you! It does make it more interesting and mysterious I think. I absolutely love the fog, hope we get it for at least a couple more weeks...
