Maple Syrup? Yay or Nay?

I've never even tried maple syrup before orz, don't think its as big here in the UK. Will have to get some tomorrow when I go shopping, what does it usually go best with? Waffles or pancakes? (actually maybe that'll start a whole different war <.<)

pancakes are my pick just because i'm usually too lazy to make waffles.

make sure you get the real stuff. the fake stuff (corn syrup) is vile.

I like maple syrup on pancakes but I live in the UK so I don't really come across it often. I supposed I might have a stronger opinion if I had it more often haha

I love using maple syrup for baking as a sugar substitute. It's also delicious drizzled over pancakes, french toast, and oatmeal.

In the winter though sometimes people pour the good maple syrup on snow & let it freeze a bit and then eat it off with a little stick. It's like a maple candy lmao

@TheodoreCottontail Yes! We did this for a field trip to a maple farm back when I was in grade school. Delicious.

These guys really like maple syrup.

I've personally always hated maple syrup. Not because it was too rich, I just have hated how it tastes.
It was also kind of gross watching my siblings drown their waffles or pancakes with it. The smell also makes me gag for some reason.

Also, for some reason, some people I know heat it up in their microwave. Is that normal?

If I'm having my stepmom's homemade blueberry pancakes, I like to have real maple syrup!
If I'm having pancakes from a box, I like Aunt Jemima!

Love maple syrup on some Belgian Waffles (not a huge fan of pancakes)

After coming across this thread awhile back, I have to say, it made me crave maple syrup LOL. I ended up making french toast two days in a row just to have maple syrup and all its goodness with it hahaha <3 It's been awhile since I had eaten something alongside maple syrup :c I can now confirm that I still like the taste of maple syrup ^^

i had the biggest feed of french toast today, you haaave to drown it in syrup!
Not pancakes tho they get too soggy you gotta dip those haha =p

Meh. It’s fine, I guess. I don’t really like to put it on pancakes because it’s way too sweet and makes a sticky mess. I would rather be able to taste the pancake and whatever is in it rather than just overwhelming sweetness. (I do dip my bacon/sausage in it though, the sweet/savory combo is the best)

I can’t really speak to many other maple syrup things. I’ve had maple candies before and those were good, but it’s not really a flavor I’d want in a dessert. I think maple donuts are wayyy too sugary as well, it’s so overpowering. I guess my main issue with maple syrup is that it’s always paired with other sweet stuff.
