Honestly, I plan to just stay away from both of them.

Which do you prefer?
Alcohol

Why do you prefer it?
I enjoy drinking mixed drinks more than smoking weed or eating edibles. Plus I like feeling drunk more than high (personally).

Is one more likely to be abused than the other?
Probably alcohol because people don't seem to take it as seriously as they should since it is technically a type of drug.

How has it affected your personal life?
I have fun drinking with close friends, if thats what this question is about.

Do you have a fear of one and not the other?
I have a fear of smoking weed (or smoking anything) because a lot of people on my dad's side of the family died of lung cancer. For this reason I've only smoked a few times and prefer edibles if I want to get high. Also wanted to add that when I was experimenting with marijuana it was legal in the state I lived in so I never experienced any legality scares/issues.

Which is more damaging to your body?
I think alcohol is more physically damaging to your body, but of course both can be detrimental to your overall health if abused.

Which have you had a worse experience with?
I've had bad experiences with both and have since learned my personal limits with both drugs, but I guess the worst one was with weed- one time my friend and I tried to make our own weed brownies (do NOT recommend) and screwed up the amount of weed to put in them (tripled it). I was so high that night that I started hallucinating and got bad anxiety. It was scary in the moment but after it was over I was fine since I knew the reason why I got so high was because I took triple the amount I usually take.

I don't do that kind of stuff and won't do it in the future, I don't see the point of it so I'd say neither.

I've done both. Started when I was very young. Smoked when I was 12 or 13 and drank much sooner than that. I hung out with my brother and other older kids. I grew up pretty fast.

I'm not saying either will necessarily ruin your life. They're both enjoyable if used responsibly. Unfortunately for me , I kept looking for better highs and ended up addicted to cocaine and then eventually heroin. It's a slippery slope. Especially for someone with depression or anxiety or other mental health issues.

I'm an adult over 21 (by a lot). I have never tried marijuana because it's never been legal where I've lived and I would've never had any idea where to get it. Plus I'm afraid it would give me hallucinations or have a harmful effect. I think wines and beers and some spirits are interesting, go well with food, and I admire the craft that goes into producing them. But of course, they shouldn't be abused. Too many mental and physical health problems can be caused by alcohol.

A while ago my older brother started growing weed at the house I stay at right now so I’ve been smoking what he harvests here and from his plants at his house. I was always against him doing it until I started, but only because I saw him struggle with other drugs and go to rehab which scared me when I was younger. I noticed it helps calm my adhd and ocd and it’s legal here so I didn’t see a reason not to use it now. Also makes me more productive if used when I need to accomplish tasks. I wish I used it in high school but I always felt like I was better than my friends for not smoking it which was so stupid looking back

Oh and I’ll never get into alcohol, that stuffs nasty

Not really a fan of either to be honest. But if I had to choose, I'd rather have a drink or two.

Nowadays I rarely smoke, but when I do I smoke very small quantities.

But alcohol i use a lot. I love wine, drink one tô two bottles per week

I drink alcoholic beverages, so I voted for that. I don’t drink them often at all though, and I only drink certain kinda. My favorite is the hard grape soda.

weed and its not even close. alcohol brings out the worst in people

I voted neither. I never tried marijuana and don't plan to use it at all. I don't like drinking alcohol, but the only one I like is a Moscato.

I never tried marijuana; I don’t like the smell tbh. I prefer alcohol if either but I don’t drink a lot. I drank whenever I hung out with friends (though the last times I hung out I didn’t). When I hang out with friends it is usually rum and coke. I also like Seagrams and some other wine coolers. I can’t drink often at home by myself since it makes me depressed (the last few times didn’t). At parties, it helps me relax and be really chatty.

It has not affected my personal life.

I have blacked out a few times (one time when i asked a friend for help to get water; I was also having a panic attack and i am shy to talk to waiters, she huffed but she helped me) and there were a couple times or more where i drank too much and threw up. But that’s it

I only drink water - literally nothing else. I've never been drunk before and I'm nearly 28 lol. Just can't stand any other drink. I've never tried weed but I would happily try magic brownies if given the chance so I voted marijuana! Hope my country legalises it soon, I imagine it'd be good for my anxiety

I frequent alcohol much more than marijuana...but I do enjoy both.

With weed now legal where I live (well...pending legality as soon as they stop messing around)...I will definitely be partaking more often in the herb soon. As for the questions...I don't really prefer one over the other. It just depends on the situation, and how much I'm able to relax. I will say...I'm not a fan of doing both at the same time, though. I always end up feeling nauseous when that is the case. I need to pick one and stick to it. I have a thing when I drink while high, where I start to drink quicker than normal...so I end up getting bombed really quickly. Okay...other questions: which one is more damaging? Definitely alcohol. More damaging and more addictive, and all the consequences that go with it...for sure. Worse experience? Again...definitely alcohol. I mean...it's a poison. It can literally kill you...and I have probably come close in that regard. I don't get to that point anymore...but, in my youth? Sure...

Which do you prefer?
Alcohol - but sparingly. Usually just light wine coolers, or white wine.
Haven't smoked since high school (cir. 2011).

Why do you prefer it?
Usually just socially. I don't really crave it, but when I do, it's just to have a light buzz and have fun.

Is one more likely to be abused than the other?
Very unlikely.

How has it affected your personal life?
Liquor, it hasn't. It's barely there lol.
When I smoked in high school, however, it was with the wrong crowd. Not that weed is bad, but that crowd made the wrong choices with it - and involved me in trading, almost having me arrested. While I wouldn't mind smoking it today, I just have a bit of a PTSD situation from those days. I agree that weed helps greatly with health - but just not for me anymore. Especially me being in the environment I'm in now.

Do you have a fear of one and not the other?
No fear, just preference.

Which is more damaging to your body?
No idea - probably alcohol?

Which have you had a worse experience with?
Weed.

i don't have a preference for either of these, i don't like drinking or smoking (just don't enjoy the taste and smell personally)

But i wanted to post here and comment on something i saw on this thread, a comment that involved prescription pills. Some people's mental illness is what alters the way they think and feel. And medication is what actually helps them be calm and think clearly. Just wanted to point that out and obviosuly im talking about medication that's given by an actual doctor! medication won't take away from anyone's personality or control them

I think that must have been my post, and I just wanted to apologize for not expressing myself clearly. I absolutely agree that prescriptions are fine and can be helpful if taken as directed by a doctor.

My views were heavily affected by my mom's addiction to pain killers and her addiction did change her quite a bit. But I understand that's just her experience and many prescription drugs are not addictive in the same way.

I sincerely hope I did not offend you.

i was sure you didn't mean it in a bad way and that's why i didn't want to refer directly to you, just wanted to put this out there in case anyone takes it the wrong way, cause truth is there's a lot of misinformation about medications out there! so really no worries, you did not offend me at all, i know how serious addiction to painkillers can be, my friend managed to cut it out early but it still had massive effects on her health. hope the best for your mom as well 💛

so yes, medication is meant to be used with the guidance of a doctor and that's really important!

anyway sorry to the OP for straying from the main subject here, just thought this was something worth putting out there ^^

I want to try marijuana one day, just to be able to say I've tried it and hated it lol I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as I enjoy the occasional alcoholic drink. I keep away from beer, it tastes disgusting, but give me a Seagram's escapes any day (actually, give me three and I'm totally buzzed. Yeah I'm a featherweight)

I don't quite mind the smell of marijuana, though.... The neighbors next door smoke it almost every night.
