Mafia Monster Mash Mafia Game Thread (Town Win!)

bear with me here, it's been mf years since ive done one of these.

here's the best i can give for a d1 list of feels / gut reactions.

town | townlean | null | sus | scumlean | maf

shawo - based on the fact that he's not completely un****ing-hinged this time around. meta has me on this side, plus i think his questions are okay-enough to not have real sus outside of wanting to just kill him out of spite.

tae - it me. ur neighborhood clownie townie.

Sidney - only sus on the basis that i hate the "im new and i hate d1 and i dont trust myself to post my thoughts" take. its not a hot take and i think gut / tone reads based off whims are important enough to push with on d1 so we can get the most info possible. ALSO dont like the take on voting inactives on d1.

Totally_RandomYT - not **** added. i don't like it. but i'm not sussing d1 due to inactivity. maybe like, play more idk homie.

Trent the Paladin - gives food for thot. contributes. questions. still ****-posts and thats also pretty meta. only half null due to not being super obvious about potentials but also trent's pushed for no-elim since the very start so i can partly understand why he's not really deep diving anyone for a d1 vote. cdurious to see what he says d2.

BetsySundrop - probably my biggest gut feeling so far. simply due to the "oh gee guys scumchat / how do they communicate" and the hard looks into voting inactive people is weird. >town-read shawo but then said they think shawo is in kahoot's w/ random bc of a fixation on the possibly that mafia would post mafia code in the game thread. it's either a really obvious townslip by her, or a very very bad ploy on trying to come across as town. either way, i don't like it.

tessa grace - probably the most townie so far. sure tessa was late to the game but tess also posted good takes and food for thought right off the bat. pushed discussion and definitely has a good logical outlook. i dig it. i look forward to posts to come.

Sheep Villager - i wanna townlean sheep, but im not certain on them. theres been some posts im like "hmmmm but wait" and others that im like yeah ok i can dig it. mostly null in my books right now but look forward to most posts and takes from them.

StarlitGlitch - ik ur also in a weird timezone comapred to the majority but pls come back and POST

.... if you vote an inactive d1 and they get yeeted, they do not get replaced. what do you mean?

i think trent's logic to have more info instead of a mislynch is valid enough to not sus him for it.
i don't play games mechanically, and i also understand shawo's reason for not wanting to no-elim. both have positive and negatives. i can revisit them d2.

While this is interesting, it isn't accurate and feels like a 'join the wagon' post with no individual substance. (No offense).

I thoroughly explained my various theories for the got it post. And I find the similarities of this comment and another...interesting indeed.

if we leave random alone today and they dont get their **** together and post during next day phase, they will be replaced.

if we vote random bc theyre inactive and some people think thats sus, random dies. we find out their role but they dont get replaced.

Sheep's turn!

I'm gonna go town/nil on sheep for now. I've seen some town indicators, especially in the early game when pulling for more activity and pointing out things they found sus. In rereading the thread, I made a mark when it felt like a team thing could be happening, and got a few on sheep (just a few). Individually, though, the d1 bloodthirsty sheep is leaning town from everything I've seen here so far.

No, I was referring to your read on me versus trent. You said you disagreed with my opinion on voting inactives, and my opinion was that we probably shouldn’t and should vote someone that we have at least some reasoning to vote.

I would say random over shawo today, since shawo has been generating discussion at least. I’m still weird on that interaction, but I also m weird bout the interaction with betsy.

Random seems way more suspicious to me; seems maybe guided?

We should push one of the active players today. There's no elim dynamics if we try to kill random. I'll force a bw between me and my biggest fos if I need to as well.

I actually agree that random probably needs to die if this is how they're going to play content - but the d1 elim split is going to give way more information than anything, barring lucky det rolls.

Also Sidney, you say that you think 2/3 mafia is in me/betsy/random, is there a combination of team that makes sense to you? And, what do you expect to do if Random flips town/maf. Is there a further goal or are you just elimming for the sake of elimming.

I could not understand the "got it" post. What was it in response to?

Side trip- in the tbt fair, i typed in an answer to the fair quiz in my team pm thread, but did not hit reply. But- went back to the quiz thread in main forum to check something. When I finally hit reply, I had accidentally posted my quiz answer in the main forum thread. (Yes, embarrassing).

So...when i saw the "got it" and no explanation was obvious or forthcoming, I wondered if maf was using pms, and if it could possibly be an accidental post to the game thread.

That's it. Not complicated. I dismissed this idea, but posted it here in my randomYT read because I like to include everything even if it's crazy.

I'm sorry but this makes SO much sense to me, did yiu just accidentally find maf

sure yeah,

random’s posts are weird to me. They posted, but nothing of substance and then the “got it” followed by a strange post about it being quiet when it isn’t and a no elim vote leads to me to think they may have been told to post that by mafia and not checked beyond “ok was told to say this”

And shawo has been doing things of substance and i can at least see their reasoning even if i disagree.

So, for the moment, random is over shawo on my sus board. Betsy has also moved up on my list, though I was only asked random v shawo.

I don’t feel really great about voting anyone at the moment and am hoping we can come up with a bit more before game end.

On the phone with my internet company trying to get my computer working again so i can look some more (it’s one of those giant outsourced companies. i hate apartments)

Randoms first post was towny...

Randoms second post was maffy.

It's maybe more nuanced than that, but I thought it was funny to just give a direct response to tone due to how little content there was.

Regardless - we're not really playing for anything by killing Random. They likely sub out, or just die on the next day (or get det checked.) We can get team dynamics just by watching how votes play out.

Oh and, while Got it being a mafia slip would be really funny. (Imagine. Mafia partner telling Random to post, and Random posts got it in the forum lol.) It really doesn't seem maffy because realistically if someone was coaching Random to post... they'd probably give more guidance. Realistically Random just posted for... X reason.

TL;DR given the time in the game that was posted, and the context, I'd expect mafia!random to have posted a better post. Even due to coaching. The post itself is inherently null value from a gameplay perspective, but given the fact that everyone else in the game seems competent enough, it stands to reason that anyone would've/could've/should've coached random to do... literally anything else. Granted there's a big assumption here in that mafia!random would respond to coaching at all, given how the games going, and I do think random's next post was really bad, but that's the circumstance behind why I said it when I did.
