Over the past year or so of my staff duties on The Bell Tree, I've learned a lot. I mean a HELL of a lot. Prior to that, for those who were around, know that I've always attempted to change things. Creating new contests, doing all these fun activities, messing around with the other sages were all common back then. Usually, all of my contests would fail or my pranks would go unseen by the people I wanted it to be seen by, and whether that was due to the shear size of the forum a year ago or whatever, I've learned one important thing.

I've been trying to change the wrong thing.

One thing that has been irking members for the longest time has been the idiocy and immaturity of others. I'll admit, there were even times where I've been angry at people on the forum and just needed to get away. However now I've realized that doing so won't fix the problem; rather it will only contribute to the problem.

No longer should the staff appease to the immaturity of some of our forum's youth. However we must recognize that their annoying attitudes are a part of them, we've all been children (or at least most of us) at one point in time. Anyway, so what I'm asking of all of you is to help make our job's as the staff easy.

First, if you see a thread that's undesirable or if it breaks the rules, REPORT IT. I cannot stress this any more. Also, if you're the one posting said immature or rule breaking materials, please cease to create immature threads. You're making my job a pain in the ass, and trust me; this job is harder than it looks.

That is all.

Nobody should like to act like an idiot though. I always have tried to report those threads, and will continue to do so. I hope others will help in making the staff's jobs easier. We should try to make it as easy as possible, simply because it is a non-paying job that deserves everyone respect. And doing our parts will help show the respect deserved.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll go report spamming threads. I wonder why people are spamming though. =/. I hope your jobs go easy! Good luck!

I think people tend to spam a lot because they enjoy getting... uh what are they--- oh yeah posts. I'm pretty sure the comp counts spam as one post, and people tend to respect people with lots of posts, not noo-- New people

I think the responsibility rests upon each and every one of us to try to put some thought into what we post. While it is true that this forum attracts more than its fair share of younger members, it is also true that there is a sizable population of adults and mature minded people who frequent this site. It is to the latter audience that I speak.

Don't let yourself get drawn into an immature flame war every time someone snipes at you. When you respond to an immature remark, you lower yourself to their level.

Don't take offense when people don't agree with you. Even in the Animal Crossing universe, there is bound to be division and disagreement. Accept that and move on.

When someone new posts in the wrong place or posts spam, don't become irate. Take the opportunity to teach, so hopefully it doesn't occur again.

If something really irks you, report it. This is something I haven't felt comfortable doing in the past, rather preferring to let others handle things. Now, I see, I'm making the job of the staff on here more difficult by not reporting the offenses.

Okay that's my 2 cents... probably a bit more than that really. On the whole, I can say that this forum stands head and shoulders above most forums I have been on. Let's all do our part to keep TBT running the way it should.

You act as if the only immature people here are children. Yeah, because teens and adults totally aren't immature, especially on TBT. /sarcasm

But seriously, you're right. Something has to be done.
