New Horizon's Rating suggests In-Game Purchases

I'm just posting what the dude said, and that he isn't really sure.

They don't have 100% facts of the game yet.

I know John, I wasn't shooting the messenger. I'm just saying that his answer is a cop out. Or to put it another way, he hasn't got the foggiest idea. "Speed things up in the game" lol. It sounds more amusing every time I read it back to myself.

I understand that no matter what the game can be played just fine without DLC and any extras they may try and get us to pay for...but in my experience that paid content is hard to ignore and is usually all the stuff I really want...so yeah it DOES make my game play unenjoyable when I know there is now this stuff I could have if I forked out more money for. When people are willing to pay for stuff like that, it tends to cause more and more and more paid content because they know people are willing to pay for it and that is when it gets out of hand.
Yep, it is all just speculation at this point, but until we know anything for sure, most of the threads I have seen here have been speculation. It makes for good discussion. I like thinking about the what ifs...that is all we have right now. I don't see people blowing things out of proportion, just going with the what ifs...some may want to take the more positive route, and others may want to think about the worst case scenario, let people be themselves, it isn't going to change anything.

Yeah I kinda said "WHUT???? Like leaf tickets in PC?,You guys said this game would be nothing like PC, and wouldn't put microtransactions in a mainline AC game".

He went silent, then said "I don't know, but I do understand your concern".

If I'm faced with the dilemma of grinding hard for a rare item or paying for it then Nintendo can jog on.

(pure speculation at this point, I know)

"Speed things up in the game" is the first kind of microtransaction that appeared in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. It is very much a real thing. It preys on people who are impatient. Before anyone says "This can't happen in New Horizons because the crafting is different" I have two things to note:

1. We know extremely little about crafting. We know that basic objects are automatic, but what about crafting more complicated items?
2. Mainline Animal Crossing games are notorious for waiting as well (house expansions, public work projects, store remodeling, etc.). It's just that without microtransactions, you either have to wait or time travel. So while crafting has not been proven to be a timely process (and hopefully never will be), there are still places that these kinds of microtransactions could easily be placed.

Anyway, this creeps me out, John Wick. Why would the customer service representative even talk about it? He could just say "I have no information to reveal at this time" but instead he went on and listed a couple of ways that microtransactions could work. Why? Hopefully he was just making stuff up and speculating, but that doesn't seem wise for them to do.

I had a gambling habit many years ago, and when I installed PC, I will be honest, I spent money on a cookie. I didn't get what I wanted, and before I knew it I had spent $40.

I hate myself for it.
I don't gamble anymore, but a popup that says "Buy another one?" 50 leaf tickets a cookie, or $6.

I kept going like it was a poker machine.

Sickens me to think of NH with that element in it.

I take full responsibility for my actions.
Will not ever put myself in that situation again.

It isn't because of the crafting as to why I don't think it should happen. It's because NH isn't a mobile game and people are spending ?50/$60 on the game and mainline AC games have never had them in the past. DLC or season passes I can live with but microtransactions are a no-no in any capacity.

Well, I'm glad you're resisting the temptations of gambling now but you shouldn't hate yourself mate. It's an addiction that affects millions and the internet makes it so easy for people, unfortunately.

You're right, though. The thought of Animal Crossing potentially having this type of thing leaves a sour taste in your mouth. My personal opinion is that I still can't see it happening.

I think they owe anyone who is investing in this game an explaination.

You're not an investor, publisher, or shareholder by preordering a game.

You're all catastrophizing and feeding off each other's panic. So much overrreaction itt.

That's what I asked him.
I said why say it could be to speed things up if you don't really know what the in app purchases could be, and he said he was going by what other websites were saying.

Maybe he just really has no idea.

No. That isn't right.
We aren't panicking. You are assuming that.
And, I am a customer.

We are just talking, and that's it.
We haven't stated anything as fact.
Let us just talk to each other on this AC forum, because that is what it is for. :)

What I've been saying all along, but apparently I'm wrong. :/

Ok this is pretty hilarious.

Yeah, it was.
I was laughing, because the poor guy was stumped.

I really don't think he knows anything.
I'm hoping he did just pull that 'speed things up' from a website.

I definitely agree that its most likely going to be DLC

but for some reason if it is something like an in game currency like they have with pocket camp ill be upset. Not really looking forward to a pay to play game like EA

I do doubt they are going to do this considering we're paying $60 for the game (or more for the people like me who bought the switch) so its likely to be just DLC.

I wonder what the DLC is though

One is enough for me. ^_^
I wouldn't be able to handle two.

It took me nearly two years to finish my NL town, lol

Ok well you lot can stop getting your panties in a twist for now: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2...web_page_no_longer_mentions_in-game_purchases

if it was removed, then its possible it was just a nintendo switch online prompt that they decided to remove from the game after all the stink over potential DLC/microtransactions, so instead it just says like go online to get NSO or something. if they could get it approved to be removed from the rating, it must have been a really simple change.
