"Speed things up in the game" is the first kind of microtransaction that appeared in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. It is very much a real thing. It preys on people who are impatient. Before anyone says "This can't happen in New Horizons because the crafting is different" I have two things to note:
1. We know extremely little about crafting. We know that basic objects are automatic, but what about crafting more complicated items?
2. Mainline Animal Crossing games are notorious for waiting as well (house expansions, public work projects, store remodeling, etc.). It's just that without microtransactions, you either have to wait or time travel. So while crafting has not been proven to be a timely process (and hopefully never will be), there are still places that these kinds of microtransactions could easily be placed.
Anyway, this creeps me out, John Wick. Why would the customer service representative even talk about it? He could just say "I have no information to reveal at this time" but instead he went on and listed a couple of ways that microtransactions could work. Why? Hopefully he was just making stuff up and speculating, but that doesn't seem wise for them to do.
