Nintendo Direct 6/18/24 at 7 AM PDT/10 AM EDT

I don't really go into Nintendo Directs hoping for anything in particular. Unless there's something that has previously been announced that they expand on in a Direct, most of the time it's just seeing if anything new catches my eye and gets me interested.

That said, if they were to announce some new Fire Emblem game, that would be neat. Not getting my hopes up about it or anything, and depending on how long the Switch has left in its lifespan before the Switch's successor releases, it might be better for them to hold off until the next console. But yeah.

Looking forward to seeing what they show tomorrow.

I will say that people probably oughtn't get too invested in hoping for information on Pokémon Legends: Z-A since that's scheduled to release in 2025 and this Direct is stated in the tweet to be about games releasing in the later half of this year. Additionally, aren't there usually Pokémon-centric Directs dedicated to exclusively Pokémon news? Who knows though, maybe they'll touch on it a bit.

I wouldn't be opposed to a update to NH, but I think that ship has sailed.
You may never know. We didn’t know the Welcome amiibo update was going to come out for ACNL before the summer of 2016.

Now if there’s one game I would be interested into, it would be a 3D equivalent of Super Mario Maker.

I'm surprised they specifically mentioned there will be no switch successor news. From a business standpoint, you would expect them to want speculation running.

Otherwise I don't know what to expect from this.

From the depths of random wish scenarios, a full new F-Zero game would be nice.

Yeah but Nintendo explicitly said the 2.0 update was the final update - there was no confirmation that NL wasn’t gonna receive more content, whereas there is for NH

I hope they bring Reggie out of retirement and he starts dancing for the full length of the Direct. That's it. Literally just Reggie dancing.

Just kidding, I don't really care what comes from this. Anything that interests me would be a huge and welcome surprise, but I don't expect it, lol.

Okay, I lied. I forgot I've been dying for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to be ported to the Switch since Mario 3D All Stars was released. I've never played any of those games and its been killing me we don't have it yet.

While they do that, they should also port the 3DS versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask into one game. That’s one thing I wanted to see on the Switch like I did for Super Mario Sunshine.

I will be excited if they describe any game I don’t already know about that I actually want to play! The last couple of directs have mostly been filler for me personally.

Of existing games, I’m most curious about Pokemon Legends and Fantasy Life, so hopefully they unpack a little more about those. I actually didn’t enjoy Arceus nearly as much as everyone else (I’m enjoying Pokemon Violet a lot more, to be honest) so I’m curious to see if the formula will differ at all for this second Legends game or if they’re going to play it safe since Arceus was generally well received.

VERY unrealistic, but...
* An Animal Crossing remake, or spin-off
* Tomodachi Life Remaster
* Miitopia 2

And I do not care for Splatoon, but something tells me they will announce Splatoon 4.

My BOLD predictions:
pls don't get offended by my humorous comments they are not to be taken seriously
  • Pokémon game #72 and #73 that takes up half the direct
  • Tomodachi Life remake/redo/remaster/revamp/super HD U edition
  • Another New Super Mario Bros but it's not actually new it's another HD remake so they can keep the NEW in it haha
  • You thought they were done adding Mario Kart stuff? Nope. Here's another booster course pass for those that like a daily consumption of salt.
  • Bunch of Indie games eh whatever
  • Animal Crossing Spinoff Splatoon 4 surprise announcement so us Animal Crossing fans can continue to beg for content
Oh wait, what's this? Another surprise? OOOOOH
  • Animal Crossing Shadow of next Nintendo console revealed, nothing else is mentioned
  • And that's pretty much it. Oh, and here's an Animal Crossing-themed Pro Controller available now. You're welcome.
I wanted to point out (not that this really matters as they're different DEVs) that AC Pocket Camp just finished adding in all the New Horizons villagers after 7 years. NEW ANIMAL CROSSING ACTUALLY CONFIRMED???
Alright I'll stop being funny now

All I am really looking forward to is more information about Legends Z-A. I am not really expecting too much though. Hopefully, and I mean HOPEFULLY, we'll get to see at least some gameplay, new NPCs, and maybe the starters. That's about it though and it wouldn't shock me if we didn't get anything at all.

As for other games, I'm not really expecting much. With Switch 2 over the horizon there really isn't anything else I really want to see. Hopefully that will be the real surprise and it'll show something cool.

What I’d love to see is Nintendo rereleasing Super Mario 3D All Stars but as a digital only game. It makes no sense that they made the digital download version time limited given the lucrative amount of money they could make. Digital only games starring Nintendo characters aren’t uncommon and Kirby proved that people will shell out money for a game with no physical release with Dream Buffet. Many Mario fans missed out on 3D All Stars and the prices online are starting to get ridiculous. I saw one eBay listening charging $70 just for the cart alone plus shipping and handling. Opened but complete copies I’ve seen being sold for over $100. And people are paying these prices. Nintendo really messed up here as the secondhand online market is making more money than they did selling 3D All Stars.

Oh yeah, I also want them to announce a new 3D Mario game, but I doubt it will happen.

Here’s what I noticed about this presentation. Other than a few titles like Metroid Prime 4 and Mario and Luigi: Brotherhood, all titles announced are either third-party games or remakes (or both). Why are Nintendo Directs filled with third-party games?

Of all that was shown, only the Mario Party, Donkey Kong and the Zelda game interested me.
Out of all of this, I’m pretty certain that I am only getting the Mario Party game, as I skipped the other two when the Switch came out as Toadette wasn’t a playable character. Now she is so I’m going back to the party!

I am happy that Metroid Prime 4 is finally getting released in 2025 and Mario & Luigi being rebranded into a new game. I don’t want either, but it’s nice to see news on both.
