Hello guys! I was wondering how many of you are TT'ing a lot and how many are just taking it day by day. I got the game at midnight on the 20th and after aggressively playing through 30 days, having unlocked all the basic shops and island designer, I felt really hollow and overwhelmed..

Today I restarted entirely from scratch and I would like to know if I'm not alone in "starting" 5 days after launch ^^;; I feel so silly

nothing against TT, I did it a LOT in new leaf but this Crossing seems to be a lot more overwhelming and trying to quickly build a "perfect town" in this game is so daunting, and it seems better to take it day by day.

What are you guys' opinion on it? ^-^

tbh there has been some hostility to time travelers (at least on reddit) recently and idk why. the only issue i see is that they could post spoilers, but they know that u know? they dont deserve the hate they get for playing the game how they want to play it.

i personally dont mind time travel. others can do it and i support them in their decision to, but for me it detracts from my enjoyment of the game after a while when that's something i don't want. i agree with u in ur statement that it'll take a while to build a dream island in this game, so it's better to take it one day at a time to stock up on resources and bells.

if u want to, u could "start" ur island on 3-20-2020 and then time travel to today. but for some people that may feel kinda cheap and unauthentic and could lead to another restart down the road. theres no time like the present to start something, so ur not late. we're all kinda stuck here in the beginning phase for now.

I think it's all about balance. At least for me, I time-traveled a bit at the beginning to gain access to my whole island and unlock the Resident Services building, but now that that's out of the way I've found that taking it day-by-day in real time is much more relaxing and manageable. Skipping ahead a day or two every now again is pretty fine by me, but rushing and playing through an entire week in one day of real time is too much. There's so much to think about when it comes to NH, especially considering that eventually we get the customize the entire layout of the island, it's emotionally draining to try to take on too much all at once. I'm enjoying the game even more now that I've slowed down my pace, and I totally understand what you mean when you said you felt hollow after time-traveling that much.

Either way, everyone should play the game however they want to play it! No judgment.

In my opinion, time traveling is cheating. However, I couldn't care less if someone else does it. It's not my place to decide what makes the game better for an individual, as long as they're happy. I just wish people would keep their mouths shut and stop the cascade of hate.

oh yea I agree there's no reason to be hateful about it at all! also thank you all for the feedback, I just wanted to feel less alone haha

I TT only because I have a set idea/image of how i want my island, so in order to not forget Im doing it all in one go. After that ill take it day by day again c: Since I'm now a bit inpatient (Thanks to the fact my husband wont be coming home for another 3 months so I literally dont want to wait in a game thats suppose to be relaxing) It relieves the stress/anxiety of having to wait... I dont know, thats just my own reasoning even if it doesnt make sense... Its a relaxing game for me so why add the same stressors that my real already has? Hahaha.

This is the first AC game that I have not TT’d and it is so much more fun this way! I haven’t had the urge to TT at all.

It probably helps that I simply don’t have the time to TT anymore with work and other hobbies.

I'm in the same boat as you, if I rushed through progress and didn't grow to love my island I wouldn't enjoy playing the game. I only time traveled through one day so my first day on the island could be the release date, other than that I'll completely avoid jumping ahead for any reason.

The only thing I miss is being able to change the time in-game. I used to have my game 6 hours behind so that I could experience midday in the evening. Right now I have time to play, but I'm not looking forward for constant night playing with little to no change to the night life.

the game loses all fun for me if i time travel, so i am taking it day by day. :) i think it's still very early in the game, so restarting now isn't a big deal -- it won't put you behind everyone!

I'm not TT'ing this time because I want to experience the game how it was intended to be experienced. Also I just don't have the time to be playing hours on end.

I've never been a fan of time travel. For me, animal crossing is a way to relax and the few times I have time traveled I've found myself stressing over getting everything done quickly and progressing in the game. I much prefer to play in real time and take it day by day. I'm probably a much slower player than some but that's fine with me!

That said, I have absolutely no problem if others time travel! It's a personal choice, do what makes you happy :)

No TT for me this time around. I learned my lesson when I did that in New Leaf and ruined the game for myself. Not gonna happen for NH now. I’m really happy with the slow build up of the game. Everyday is exciting for me. :)

My opinion on TT is to do it if you want to. I have nothing against TT'ers, and I do TT sometimes, but only within the same day.

It's their game, they should be able to play how they want to. If they enjoy TT'ing and having a fully built town in 3 days, let them!

My opinion of time traveling? Well, I don't see any problem with it. If somebody gets more value out of their game by time traveling, why not. It's not like this is a contest or competition; it's a game. We are not nasty people that are going to say, "HEY, look at ME, I am farther along than you are!!" because we all know that there are many things a person can do in this game if they want to. Sometimes I'd rather just fish. I'd rather save my competitive urges to use for competitions in life that really matter.

I keep very late hours, so usually I time travel a few hours so that I can see my beautiful island by the light of day more of the time. In the past, there have been times when I didn't time travel and there is nothing wrong with that either.

I dislike abusing TT because it feels like genuine cheating to me, however I will do it in situational instances, such as my new file TTing to unlock bedhead hair, doing the TT before I started progressing the 'story.'

But people are free to play how they want, I could care less if someone wants to reach a certain point faster. I'll enjoy it my way, and they can enjoy it their way. All I ask of people TTing is to not try to give me items that would be outside my non-TT progression that would greatly benefit me.

I've had a TTing habit since I first found out about it in wild world (the first one I played) and haven't been able to control it since, I just can't avoid it, I do think there's more to do in a day though which is nice so I don't have to time travel to have something to do, I'm mainly TTing to get villagers out that I don't plan to keep.

Never really done it in previous AC games, but definitely wouldn't in New Horizons. I feel like the slow pacing is such a key part of this game, with most things steadily unlocking over the first few weeks. Why rush through that? Everyone enjoys the game differently though I guess.

i don’t see a problem with TTing at all. i paid for the game and i’ll play it however i choose. also, since i’m self quarantining now, it gives me something to do. after a while you run out of things to do in one game day. i don’t see how its “cheating” considering it doesn’t give you a leg up on anyone else lol and its not hurting anyone either

if you paid for the game then play it however you want , as long as you don't ruin anyone's experience.

kinda immature to get mad about ppl who do/don't do TT.
