Using bribes and campaigning for others’ entries is like competing in a Pokémon contest with all PKHex’d Pokémon or stealing signs electronically in a baseball game. We must play fair and play honestly.

Well yeah, of course the imposter glow wands are gonna make some people act sus 🥁

I also think voting results should be made private going forward, although I don't see any point in removing usernames from entries because so many artists on here have such recognizable art styles, and there's nothing preventing people from going to the original submission thread to look at the uncensored entries anyway. It also would be nice to be able to vote for more than one submission!

Not just imposter glow wands. Any glow wand collectible in general. Just like how Pokéballs were back when they first came out and how chocolate cakes were when I first joined this site.

The high demand in the 2016 glow wands is also responsible for the slow business in the TBT Marketplace and shortage of TBT Bells in circulation.

i def second removing the vote count, i think a lot of the cheating has come down to knowing they were close to a tie or placing so it would eliminate that knowledge so no one's the wiser. i'm also in favour of complete anonymity tbh - aside from a couple of people i wouldn't be able to identify someone's art style, and definitely not in terms of their crafts or new horizon style etc.

anyways, revoted! good luck everyone!

I will say I think there should have been more than one winner for collectables all along, I thought that hard during space camp since I wasn’t able to scrape a 1st place there (not trying to start any drama there, there was stuff in my life stressing me out way more than that), honestly glad I’m not overly invested in collectables or any cliques but seeing how people act I don’t think the scarcity of some collectables is actually fun overall. I honestly think doing that would be less stressful and a net gain, it’s not like it actually makes contest collectables common

You can’t stop this kind of stuff completely but if people are still doing it then, yeah. People are taking the availability too seriously, you could adjust that a bit, i would say keeping polls private is a definite win. hiding names is a bit more complicated because people will try to work around it anyway, people will recognise art styles which might actually be worse if they have familiarity bias, other people have made other suggestions and I’m not the best one to be speaking here anyway

i know those wands are limited but it's been said they'll come around again, there's no need for that.

I know you aren't insinuating as such, but I do feel it merits mentioning that even if staff had bluntly declared they had zero intention to ever bring back, it'd still not be an excuse

Using bribes and campaigning for others’ entries is like competing in a Pokémon contest with all PKHex’d Pokémon

I mean ignoring that the competitive pokemon scene even all the way up to official sanctioned events runs rampant with haxmons uh

playing off jacob's idea, maybe making a top 5 who all win something and then have the top 3 get trophies/whatever the winning collectibles are? maybe that would be less stressful for people idunno

bringing back the old blue trophy as a finalists prizing would be pretty dope, ngl

I wonder if the staff can also make all imposter collectibles and Tier 1 collectibles unique.

this could probably be done with imposters if so desired, but anything else would be just unfair to others that weren't lucky enough to have duplicates beforehand (and staff aren't gonna be taking away those duplicate tier 1s either, as it'd also be unfair to those that worked to obtain)

Yikes. Not something I was expecting to see, but so upsetting to hear. I'm very happy I didn't get one of these, but they must have vary little faith in their project to try and cheat. But I guess people let votes get to them.

(Thank you to whoever reported them ♡)

i didn't see this before but the tier list is fanmade and entirely unofficial, and i'm pretty sure we all like it that way! for them to take our tiers into consideration would be giving them an official price so to speak which wouldn't be right. it'd make certain collectibles guaranteed unobtainable and wouldn't allow them to move between tiers. the list is meant to serve as a guide and nothing more.

wow... im sorry that happened, but so glad the staff caught it in time to fix it, a popularity contest is never fun or fair.
Anyways, everyone did amazing! Voting was hard but I just submitted all my votes 🫶
Goodluck to everyone who entered <3

I don't know what to say honestly. This kind of voting is never fair. A lot of people will vote for their friends or in some cases even family members and that's something you can never controlle and will always be an issue with community voting.

Is there a perfect solution? Not really. To hide the voting itself is a good idea, I would also love to see no names. It will not prevent favouritism but it will be at least a bit fairer. This beeing said: I hope people bribing others for some pixels are ashamed of themself.

I would love to see more staff votings like the Halloween one. You really had a chance to actually win and there where a lot of winners. I am by no means an artist and I know I can never compare to this insane number of talented people here and it felt like christmas to actually win something haha That would never have happend with polls.

I first read this before heading to bed last night, and I had to re-read it a few times, as I thought it was a fun post to remind members polls were closing soon. When it finally sunk in, I couldn’t believe it. These events are supposed to be fun whether you’re a beginner (like me) or a professional artist. For me it's all about the participation, as it allows me to get my creativity going, which is something I lacked until I joined here.

I agree with hiding the results during the voting process, and I don’t think the number of votes should be shown even after the winners have been announced.

As others have said, even removing usernames from the entries does not mean a completely fair vote. All members would have to do would be look back through the original entries to match up the entries with the finalists’ photos. Even, if staff hid the original threads, members could save photos. Even if there was a way to post entries in a true anonymous way, as Xara said some members have such a distinct style it would be impossible not to know who created each entry.

That being said, I really hope this doesn’t cast a shadow over any future events and/or the Stole-iday Event! I would hate for the Stole-day Event to be remembered for this and not for all the fun we had throwing snowballs!

What a turn of events...

I also think that the hidden poll results are a really good thing (speaking from both perspectives) and during previous Events I often wondered why they are public. And having multiple votes sounds like an even better idea, it would make voting so much easier for me when there are always so many good entries.

Who would have thought some pretty pixels would lead to this 🤨 I agree with the disqualification for those who tried to bribe, and I believe votes should be private going forward (echoing @Xara ‘s view here as I also get the urge to check daily lol). It’s a shame but hopefully those involved can learn and move on from this.

Wow unless they are about 10 this is unfathomable to me. You see something you like so you basically try steal it through any means you can!?
Not only the unfairness to others who are up there, but the very awkward, uncomfortable position that members who were PM'd etc. were put in.
I hope they were disqualified as it wouldn't be right for them to now win.
Wer'e here for fun people, FUN!!

*saddened that the event has been tainted for many.
