Phantom in the Fairgrounds
As you wander the carnival, something doesn't feel quite... right. Something, or someone, is here with you. And yet, all you hear is the rustling wind... As you look around, you see... a bunch of things, actually. Like a text-based game!
How to Participate
Play through this text-based adventure game and find the TWO codes: each one will award you with 6 Carnival Coins.
Once you've found a code, click the Carnival Coin amount from your sidebar or profile, and enter the code in the "Redeem" box as shown below. Make sure to type it in all caps and with no spaces or symbols in place of "CODEGOESHERE".
And that's all there is to it! There is no other part to this event: once you redeem the two codes, you're done!
Play the game here! Note: The game will save your status, so long as you have cookies enabled.
The text record will not be saved, however.
Make sure you redeem the codes by 11:59pm EDT on October 31st!
Rules
- This event should be done individually, so please do not work with other members.
- Don't share or post hints on or off the forums.
- You may discuss the event in this thread, but please be vague. Try not to talk about specific events or tasks in the game. "Part of the game startled me" is fine, but "The piece of candy that popped up startled me" is not.
Note: There is no candy in this game. - If you're found to be cheating in other ways, you may have your currency removed, be banned from the remainder of the Halloween Event, or be banned from future events.
Solution
A solution for this game is below. This does not include the full text results, but just a 'fast' path to the answers and some explanations. You can do these in various orders, but there are certain 'groups' of steps that need to be taken.
There are 2 codes to work towards, and both can be done at roughly the same time. Steps that lead towards one code will be coloured red, and the other blue.
- look around
- look boxes
- take knife
- enter Mix well tent
- look around

- cut pumpkin
- ask pumpkin
- enter macabre tent
- danse macabre
- look pumpkin: This will give you one of the codes!

FAQ
Below are a collection of frequently asked questions/problems that have come up in this thread. All questions here are intentionally vague so as to not give directions on what to do, but the ones in the spoiler block talk very vaguely about events in the game.
- "I'm stuck!"
Take a break and come back to it later, or explore the study more! You have until the end of Halloween to solve this, so there's no rush.
You may also want to restart the game and try anew! Starting with a fresh perspective sometimes helps. - "How do I restart the game?"
Use the 'restart' command and follow the instructions there. Otherwise, use another browser (or incognito mode).
Patch Notes
The below are any adjustments made to the game as of the release. These changes do not affect the story or goal of the game: if you've finished the game, you do not need to replay it. These will also not affect your status in the game.

- November 1st: Removed the redemption codes, and added the following: interactions for when you try to use boxes, and for look body after putting clothes on it.
