First of all, I'd like to know if any of you guys actually have any kind of piercing? Where? How many? (Maybe send pics hehe).

But most importantly, I wanted to know if it was painful to get them.
I'm VERY... how to put it... fragile, and I'd like to pierce my right ear lobe two times, but I'm extremely terrified about the pain it might cause... a lot of people said it wasn't much but I'm still so scared about it...
Maybe one of you could give me advice in order not to be scared or something.. or just tell me how you handled getting pierced!
Thank you!

i got my ears pierced when i was about 11. i found that taking a deep breath in first and then breathing out after it was pierced eased the pain a lot. my advice for piercings in general would be to never get any piercings done with a piercing gun - guns don't go through the skin properly and people who use guns are not professional at all (looking at u claire's) needles are a lot safer and less painful than guns. i still have problems with one of my ears, it's gross and even though the hole is closed up by now, it flares up sometimes because of the way it was pierced. there's a lump of scar tissue. i let my ears close up because of the pain i experienced and i wish i knew better. i'm thinking of getting my ears re-pierced (which is going to be hell because the scar tissue makes it a lot more painful) and getting my nostril done. maybe even one of my eyebrows.

I've had a couple different ear piercings, I didn't think any hurt at all.
What's worse is anticipating that it'll hurt ! If you do that, of course it will ! Go into it hyping yourself up that it'll be nothing, it'll be a few seconds and you'll be fine. I think once you get over the mental block, it'll be okay.

Also, I agree that you should get it done by a real piercer who uses needles. And, for reference, I haven't worn anything for my piercings in YEARS and they have never closed or come anywhere near to closing. So, for some people, it'll be a permanent thing.

Of course I was going to go to a professionnal! Guns should be banned tbh.
Also one of my friends got her nostril pierced recently and she told me that it hurted less than when she got her lobes pierced!

Ohhh thanks! I'll try to be more hyped about it ldfkdlg!!
I already bought so many earrings that I want to wear, but me being too scared is keeping me from wearing them...
I don't think I'll ever go too long without my earrings so I guess that's not a problem for me though!
Thanks!

I got my ears pieced with a gun when I was young. To be it was just like a pinch, like getting an needles. Then my ear just felt really hot. Shouldn't be getting them done with a gun anymore though. They aren't always professional and it is just safer to use needles. I think it would still feel the same. Also depends on what part of the ear you're pricing. Higher up on the ear probably hurts more. I don't know, because I have never gotten it done. I want to. I got my bottom left lip priced and well as got a monroe (top right) done. With a needle at a tattoo shop. Again, I don't remember it hurting too much. Just a big pinch when it first goes in and that was it.

i have 8 piercings so

5 cartilage 2 basic ear piercings and 1 naval

i'm a bit weird w/ pain, but typically during my piercings i'd just like pinch myself or something to distract myself. needles for piercings are fine, it's the healing process that sucks. get an airplane pillow and make sure you clean properly (saline solutions) to avoid infections.

I got my ears lobes pierced at Claire’s when I was 15... and I think there’s something wrong tbh because there’s a lump now and it can get painful when I put earrings in even now (I’m 20) so yea definitely don’t do that xD

Im usually really bad with pain, but it wasn’t that painful. I like to dig my nails in my palms to redirect the pain. It was probably the same amount of pain as like a flu shot. It’s going to be painful for a few weeks though and you have to maintain it well until it heals

i have 5 piercings in my ear, double pierced lobes and one helix piercing in my right ear, in terms of pain it was just one sharp pain and then throbbing for a while after, it's definitely nothing to worry about!

i've also had my nose pierced a couple of times but i always end up letting it close up, nose was pretty much the same, painful when getting it done but it just dies down to a faint dull pain that's manageable

ok i'll bee dead honest i couldn't be bothered to read the other posts but basically

1. earlobe piercings barely hurt at all, if at all. i didn't even feel some of mine, plus it only lasts like one second.
2. make sure you go to an actual PIERCER who will pierce with a needle, not a piercing gun. guns are much more prone to infection and pretty much rip your ear rather than actually piercing them, plus even though it barely hurts they do hurt more.

I recently let a couple close, but I've 18 right now: triple lobes (both ears; first holes stretched to 10mm), daith, tragus, scaffolding, conch, septum, nostril, philtrum, cleavage (dermal anchor), nipples, and navel. Then there's another two in the earlobes that I don't actively wear jewellery in but I had them done around 18 years ago so they just aren't closing!

Piercing pain is short-lived. It can be sharp, and it lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, and then it's over. The earlobe is the easiest place to get pierced. I found the first two piercings I had done in each earlobe didn't hurt at all.

That's... quite impressive to be honest...
I know that I shouldn't be scared when I know people like you got so many piercings (and I've heard some of them are super painful like the septum...), and I'm just sitting here, panicking over two lobe piercings...

The problem is (I forgot to mention it in my post somehow...) I have a phobia of needles... so it's even harder for me. But I'd rather be pierced by a needle than getting my ear smashed and potentially infected by a gun...

I have both my lobes pierced 3 times. I did get 2 cartilage piercings in my right ear as well but they did NOT heal well (thanks claire's) and I got a keloid on one of them that had to be surgically removed. Basically just dont get pierced with a piercing gun and you'll be fine, the pain only lasts for a second and then it subsides :)

Well that's why it's illegal to use a gun to pierce cartilage then! Where I live, at least..

I only have my ears pierced 4 in total
2 on each side
and I did have a cartilage pierced before, but that got infected due to the metal I was allergic to sadly ;w;
other than that none on the face or body wise lol.
I am pretty resilient to tolerating the pain if anything
since it was a pretty quick procedure anyways ouo

if it helps the needle looks more like a sewing needle, also since it's going in your ear you won't really see it.

plus your ear lobe is super thin, idk if you've had a needle in your arm but if you were able to handle that then an ear piercing is nothing.

I did have to have needles in my arms... but I can't help but to be afraid gdlokmdf
But thanks!!! I'll try to think about it to reassure me!

I have my ear cartridge and ear lobes pierced, and I plan on getting more. I think my cartilage was pierced with this gun everyone keeps talking about. I got mine done at a Piercing Pagoda, I see them in malls. I haven't had any problems with the piercing that was caused by a gun, I guess I just got lucky. They did wipe down the area and gun with a little wipe too.

Lobes are nothing, I literally did not feel mine when I got them done (I was like 10). Cartilage is a pinch and done, barely any pain, if any.

I know this thread is about pain, but I have to say:
Do not pierce with surgical steel or silver. At Peircing Pagoda silver wasn't offered as a starter, it was gold and SS. Silver is too soft to be a starter. Surgical steel may work with some people, but not for me, and I don't have skin allergies/sensitive skin. Well after my initial piercing healed I had a SS piercing in for a month. It later got infected or somethin, cause it would bleed alot if I picked at the dry blood there. After that I took it out and never put in SS again. I currently have silver as my cartilage and it works fine, I haven't had any problems with it, and I've had it in for a long time now.

TL;DR Virtually no pain, all the gain. You get pretty earrings c:
Always use gold to pierce, clean as instructed, wait until it's fully healed (it takes a couple of weeks to 2 months I think), don't use surgical steel.

i had my lobes done when i was like 8, it was my birthday and we were in town and i asked my sister how she got her lobes done and that i wabted them, they took me to claire?s to get them done. i had no idea what was going on i didnt know how piercings worked LOL or whayt was going to happen so i sat there just confused bc i didnt know why they gave me a big bear to hold and told me to take a deep breath. so they did it with the gun and there was just a split second of pain and i jumped a little but it was fine and i got a lollipop : DD i still have them in although my left lobe flares up sometimes maybe cus it was pierced with a gun anyway i got my tongue pierced at 15 and left it in for a year until i got tired of it cus it was annoying to eat with and one day i swallowed one of the barbells for like the 3rd time and just gave up. then i pierced my ears with a piercing needle i got from ebay (2 more on each lobe and just one on my cartilage on the left) idk it was pretty dumb but my ears turned out fine thank god. i want more ear piercings but idk what yet and this time ill get them done by a professional

I have my ears pierced twice on each side. The first ones were done when I was a baby, my mum didn't want me to remember the pain. And the second ones I had done a year ago, I'm pretty sure it was with a gun? She put the earrings I picked into it and just put them straight in my ears but I didn't have any problems afterwards (maybe the gun was different since I'm in Aus?) Anyway it only hurt for a second and then felt warm for a while and eventually I forgot I had it done.

Ive always wanted to get a nose ring but I literally sneeze all the time so i feel like I might ruin it somehow, but I may get my third holes done in my ears one day
