Harvey... We're married. How would I not know your birthday. 😭
To be fair, I had already reached 10 hearts with him before his birthday in year 1, so I kinda did forget about it until now.

I seriously don't understand why Mario & Luigi fans have been so harsh to Brothership but I really enjoyed so it doesn't matter to me. My issue with it though is, yes, it's simple and easy and there were some noticable frame rate drops but that's literally been an issue with a lot of switch games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet being the absolute worst as far as I know which has somehow gotten better ratings despite this.

That's the most ironic thing about it. Just because it has "Pokemon" in the name, doesn't mean it deserved a high rating. And Brothership has better battle animations and art style than 3D Pokemon games that aren't made by Genius Sonority (esp. Gen 8 and 9 games). Sometimes, I felt like Brothership could be the "Super Paper Mario" of the Mario and Luigi RPG series.

I just started Sonic Adventure 2, and City Escape might be one of the best opening levels I've seen in any video game. I like that stage more than the entirety of the first Adventure game.

Bayonetta 3 looks terrible on the switch.
I tried playing it but something just seems off. I enjoyed the other 2 though so idk if it’s just me being weird lol

For those that don't know, Lopez is one of my favorite villagers, if not, my most favorite. This is attributed to a few (though not many) features I've compared with Spyro's original design, mainly the eyes and antlers. Yes, one is yellow while the other's purple; one has wings and the other doesn't; one stands on two legs while the other is a full-on quadroped (though Spyro stands on his hind legs on special occasions), but darn it, they're both awesome.

One of Spyro's main abilities is breathing fire, which is why I frequently have Lopez wear the flame shirt. Oh, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon is my all-time favorite game. Now ya know.

Now that I know Mega Man lore, I realized it’s a lot like Kirby and Pokemon where at a surface level, it seems innocent enough, which, to be fair, the Classic series kind of is. It’s pretty much just “stop Dr. Wily” or “stop a seemingly new villain but obviously Dr. Wily is somehow related,” and the plot only exists so the game can exist, which makes sense since the first six of them are NES games and two more of them are just pretending to be NES games. But then the events of the Classic series lead into the X and Zero series, which tend to have actual (not always good, but at the very least, actual) stories and can get more serious and depressing, especially the latter. For example, most bosses/Mavericks used to just be normal robots/Reploids, and some were even friends with the main characters, but became evil due to various causes, and when they’re killed, which is done in some cases by the people they once were friends with because there’s no other way to end their suffering, they’re dead for good, and not just damaged but reparable like Robot Masters. I think it’s even more this than Kirby or Pokemon because the compilation rereleases of all the X and Zero games that came out a few years ago were rated T when the original releases were all rated E, while obviously no Kirby or Pokemon game has been rated T. I think some fans of the original games don’t like that it’s more serious but I personally love it. The main issue, besides the games that have bad stories, is that some of the X games have cutscenes with atrocious English dubs, but that started with Mega Man 8 so it’s not inherently an X thing.

Edit: no idea what the hell I was going on about here, the X games on average definitely do not have good stories. The overarching storyline is the interesting part in that regard

Sonic Team tried to do something similar with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 (to be fair I kind of like some aspects of that latter game’s story, mainly the Shadow and Silver parts), and those stories are definitely pretty hated for being too dark, but I feel like those didn’t work, especially not the Shadow game, because they were tone deaf but lacked self awareness of that fact (like randomly and unnecessarily using “damn” for no reason other than shock value, not realizing how stupid the idea of Sonic the Hedgehog characters saying the word “damn” in an official and licensed game is), and were overall incredibly confusing and had tons of plot holes. The Shadow game because it was poorly written and translated and 06 obviously because it was rushed. It’s not because a series that’s usually kid friendly can’t ever be serious, it’s just the way you handle it. And even then, it’s not like the story is the most important part of the game anyway, it’s just nice to have a good one.

Speaking of bad English dubs, at least the Mega Man X7 English dub spawned this:

And here's the actual boss footage (this isn't edited. This is real btw):

Oh yeah I know about that boss fight lol. It does not look fun at all and also sounds so terrible. I can’t believe anyone on the team thought the voice clip should be spammed that much.

Why is the cat side quest in Echoes of Wisdom the cutest side quest ever? 😭 I wish I could actually get a cat outfit irl that helps me understand cat language!

sometimes i wonder if i grew up playing playstation instead of nintendo LOL
i've never even owned my own playstation but probably this year i'll cop 😩

So apparently, other than the SMG like you get in the original RE4, in the remake of RE4, you also get a freaking ASSAULT RIFLE! Like, daaamn!! Lol.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins came out today. I've only played an hour or so of it and, as a massive fan of the series, I fully believe this game is going to escalate the franchise. The devs did their homework and have produced a game that appeals to a broader audience, not just their hack 'n' slash niche. And the only thing they've sacrificed in doing so, from a long-term fans perspective, is remove the ability to play as famous officers. Small price to pay for such a high quality game.

I REALLY don't wanna do this knife fight w/ Krauser...but I have no choice! Welp.

How did I just now learn I could throw things in the waste basket?? (New Horizons) I knew about the trash cans, but thought the little baskets were purely decorative lol.

Did you know that the villain Ripto from Spyro 2 was literally named after how Spyro's Japanese name visually appears?

...yeah. Now you can't unsee it. What a very unique way to name a character. Oh, and for those that don't know, the Japanese PS1 ports of the first two Spyro games are trainwrecks (gameplay was even altered). So much so, that Insomniac never even bothered to make a port of Year of the Dragon. The art here does look kind of cute, though.

Well, I got past the knife fight w/ Krauser...it actually wasn't that bad. Still, glad to get back to the normal gameplay.

I finally beat Eggmanland in Sonic Unleashed… that was painful.

This **** does not mess around. Most of the game is actually pretty hard, especially the post Dragon Road stages and especially compared to other boost games, but this level takes the cake. The daytime sections aren’t that bad compared to the nighttime ones. If you could beat Jungle Joyride, this should be doable (it even carries over the obscene amounts of lag). But this stage has an exclusive gimmick where you switch gameplay styles multiple times mid level, and when you to play as Werehog Sonic in the night… okay, it starts off fine, but once they expect me to walk on balance beams over bottomless pits with no drop shadows that you can’t hang onto if you fall off unlike most of the ones in the game, it starts to get infuriating. It was to the point where the enemy encounters that force me to fight 15 Eggrobos back to back were a breath of fresh air from the platforming. At the very least, the developers were nice enough to have at least one life before all of the most ridiculous sections, so you essentially have infinite tries, but still. That led to me spending 63 minutes on the stage when I beat it yesterday, and I don’t feel inclined to replay it for a better score unlike most stages because it’s just way too long.

But honestly, I actually did like the stage. I respect them for going out of their way to make one of the hardest Sonic stages in existence, especially since none since then that I’ve played have really rivaled it in terms of difficulty or length (a really good play through takes at least 10 minutes), because after I finished it, it did make me feel accomplished. It makes sense that it’s so hard since it’s all Eggman’s ever wanted to make, so of course he’d make a stage that’s absolute hell for Sonic to play. And finally, I thought the atmosphere of the stage was really cool. It looks awesome, the day and night tracks are epic, and the fact that it’s so long that it’s taking Sonic multiple days to get through makes it seem like the ultimate gauntlet. Plus there’s no Werehog battle music playing every five seconds, so that’s a bonus. I didn’t play the final boss (which is apparently worse) or the Egg Dragoon because it was almost 12, so I really needed to stop playing the game. But also now I’m reminded about how I once saw some random gaming site say that Labyrinth Zone was harder than this stage like wtf are they talking about? Have they played it?

But since I’m going for 100%, I’m not done with the stage yet. First I have to go back and get all the collectibles, then S-rank it, which means avoiding dying since that gets rid of all your points, and then I have to do the hot dog missions, which essentially means beating it on three separate attempts, and you can’t die or else you start that entire attempt all over again. I have no idea who thought any of that would be fun… oh right, I did.

Dragaux from Ring Fit Adventure is sort of hot and that’s a bit disturbing considering he’s an actual dragon….
