• In celebration of The Bell Tree's 20th birthday this week, we're hosting several activities and presentations about the community over this weekend. See the Twenty Years on The Bell Tree announcement for more details and good luck in the high-stakes raffles!

It feels werid that the holidays are getting so close. I am not sure how I feel about it this year. Like I love the meaning of the holidays, I just hate the expectation of people during these times. It is alot easier for me now than it use to be, as I haven't worked in the public for a long time now, as my last permanent job was an after hours job. But I still find the holidays stressful... and I hate how many ads are shoved in your face.

why do so many people try to get into my private microsoft account?? 😭 is it because it's connected to minecraft with this username? it's not THAT good that i should have multiple people try to login? it's like 50 attempts within the last 3 weeks the email name isn't good either 😬

In elementary school I had a good friend who, unfortunately, always smelled like fecal matter. I liked hanging out with him, but the odor was often pungent. Since I didn't want to hurt his feelings, I didn't say anything to him about this issue and just tolerated it (looking back, I should've, although in a non-offensive way). One day a specific, hot-headed teacher had enough of the stench so he called out my friend on it in front of the entire class, then commanding that he go to the restroom and properly clean himself up (I can imagine the embarrassment that he felt).

I wonder where this friend of mine is now (hopefully, still alive and with improved hygiene).

I cannot stand purposefully loud cars! Especially when I’m walking and one just drives by! It’s so obnoxious and rude!
to add onto that this particular car had some very... obscene and questionable things plastered all over the back windshield. not exactly a person I would ever want to be around haha

We lived in a timeline in which Bubsy of all the possible video game mascots, gets a rebooted game or a long-awaited sequel while the other more beloved 90's game mascots that deserved a new game gets basically left out (Klonoa, etc.)

Thankfully, Klonoa 1 and 2 got a remake but still.

What a timeline 😂.

This Monday at school we did this survey that we do every year and basically every year my answers are the same. For example:

- Yes, people are dicks to each other. It's not bullying, just more like back and forth dumb insults. And of course, no one stands up for anyone.

- This place is always disgusting, especially the bathrooms. I would say that this isn't any of the janitor's fault, it's because people are so gross themselves.

- I don't feel unsafe at school.

- Teachers are nice to each other and do encourage students to do their best.

- People are respectful of diversity? Of course not. What do you think this is, a college campus? If you're different, some people just see it as a new way to insult you, but it's mostly in between friend groups. Still, for a diverse school, it has some of the most racist people I've ever seen. People just casually throw around slurs.

No matter what I or anyone else answers, nothing really seems to change, so I think they should remove the survey because it always just wastes 15 minutes of our time.

When the What’s Bothering You thread forbids complaining about other members (at least specific members), I take the rule so seriously that:
  • I can’t use the thread to complain about warnings or infractions. Because that would slip into complaining about the moderators, which are other members.
  • I can’t use the thread to complain about how others are treating me as a whole rather than specific members. Sometimes, it’s just a few members that are being mean, and when there are fewer members, such complaints can be specific. And if it’s the community as a whole, then I’m failing to acknowledge the errors of my ways, and that could start a fight.
  • I can’t use the thread to complain about how poorly I’m doing in the TBT Marketplace, or how the TBT Marketplace is doing poorly.
  • I can’t use the thread to even bring up drama from other threads.
Even though the rule says nothing about the above, it’s best to avoid complaining about anything site-related (unless if you’re venting about depression over events ending or glitches), because that would put you on a slippery slope to breaking that one rule.

This has happened to me so many times and I've gotten warnings because of it. I despise looking at my past warnings because it makes me feel emotional.

In Wild World, I sold my turnips on Thursday, not expecting the prices to go much higher. As expected, this afternoon they were 519 bells. You actually have to be ****ting me.

I'm so glad Bell Tree isn't covered with eye sore ads. I'm on this one forum (that isn't Animal Crossing based) and it's almost covered head to toe with ads! If you're lucky you might get a pop up on you while you're trying to read.
Too bad my Chromebook won't let me download an ad block.

The site's mobile version is worst!

So I’ve seen the “forbidden pairs” meme online (unlikely people who look like each other), and I didn’t think about it until I realized that Sylvester Stallone and Paris Hilton look and sound alike in a way. (Maybe the slight slurring? Btw I mean this in the nicest way possible…they are both attractive people.)

Reddit is definitely the weirdest site on the internet. I see people say things there that they should get arrested for. Honestly, it's kinda funny.

If you want to know why this rule exists, there used to be another What’s Bothering You thread. Two actually. The first one wasn’t made by a staff member, but rather a regular user, so there was less moderation. So it was technically allowed, just not recommended. But when some users did express their frustration with other members, or used it to bully other members, it started a lot of drama. After it was closed, a new one was opened, but with staff-imposed rules. And one of them was to not use it to express your annoyance with other members. Of course, people didn’t take it seriously enough as the thread went on, so that one got locked as well. Now they’re threatening to suspend anyone that mentions another member in a negative light, whether they say their name or simply allude to them.

It feels awkward seeing this one poll that's showing up on the forums' homepage right now: "How many years have you been a member of TBT?", when there are fairly new members who joined months ago, weeks ago, days ago, or even just today!

Me, I've only been a member for 7 months, so I still can't vote on that poll.

The Animal Crossing Community also has that exact same poll on their homepage, too!
"How many years have you been on ACC? (Round up or down)"

It may seem surprising to you, but most of us joined at different times of this forum’s lifetime, with 2013-2015 being the golden age of new members joining. When I first joined, the majority of the community joined in either 2013 or 2014. But now, only a small portion of the community joined within the last two years.
