unless you hit some turbulence for a storm
I actually like when there's turbulence. I enjoy gazing out the window and experiencing turbulence. It's what makes me feel like I'm on a plane. Otherwise, if I'm staring at the back of someone's head or the whole flight is smooth, it feels like I might as well be riding a bus or a car. 🤷‍♀️ I want a physical/visual experience unique to riding an airplane... Well, except for the cramped seating and rubbing elbows with the person next to you, of course. 😅

Yeah my first flight was really bad with the turbulence because we went through a storm. I didn't know what to expect because I never been in a plane. So I was like ok I guess this is normal? It didn't really bother me, but there were a few who were unsettled by it. I was just trying to ease op's mind since it's going to be their first flight.

Instead of going 'yeah plane gonna go kaboom' lol

I’m not nervous about it, despite being my first time. Not even the movie Airplane! could make me nervous. Granted, that is a 40+ year old movie, but still. It’s hilarious and I’m surprised that it received a PG rating and not an R!

But yeah, experiencing turbulence may cause me to feel a bit uneasy. No flight is ever 100% smooth, but the technology has become much more advanced these days. Besides, I’m pretty sure we’d get an announcement if something actually went wrong. From what I heard, the flight won’t have a lot of people boarding, so it should be great experience for a first timer like me. I’ll post later how I felt once I get into my hotel room in Vegas.

Man, having the flu sucks! The last few days have been a hell. Thankfully, I think I'm on the turning point...breathing is getting a little easier as is sleeping.

While watching through the first season of Futurama, I’ve noticed that Bender doesn’t say his iconic catchphrase nearly as much as I thought he would. Maybe it starts happening more later. Also, fun fact, the Robot Devil is voiced by Dan Castellaneta, the same person who voices Homer. I think both shows also even share writers (and obviously, also a creator).

I wonder if season 27 of South Park will have an episode about the Taylor Swift news. It would make a lot of sense to do that.

I wish there was a way to filter out all the references and jokes i don’t get or care about in reddit comment sections.

They better announce a Gen 5 remake in the next Pokémon Presents. The only reason I think they wouldn’t is because every remake, save for the Kanto remakes, are the same generation as the original one times 2. For example, the Hoenn remake was released in Gen 6. Because Pokémon is in Gen 9 now, they’ll probably wait until Gen 10 to release a Black and White remake. Speaking of which, I wonder how Gen 10 is going to be like.

Lois Baird-Rice is one of my new favorite YouTubers. Love how she refers to her husband as “Number Three” and once said her mind was “like a butterfly inside my head.”

Yeah. They’ll probably have episodes about Epstein Island, Ozempic, Barbenheimer, and Gypsy Rose Blanchard too…they’ve got a lot to catch up on.

Definitely starting to feel more chipper...still have a few more days of recovery though.

^That sound really good right about now! Wish I had some soup.

So I was reading the Fridge Brilliance page about the children's’ book Holes. While the book had a racist murder, the drought, a juvenile detention camp, a curse on the main character’s family, a building friendship between two kids, and some abusive camp counselors, here are some interesting things I learned:

  • Both the Yelnats (Stanley’s family) and the Walkers (the Warden’s family) had the same stuff. They faced rejection, they were cursed by a woman they had a negative interaction with, the curse made the descendants poor, and the last of the descendants had to dig holes in the desert. The reason why the Yelnats were better off were because they were able to move on from their misfortunes and made practical decisions, while the Walkers were focused more on finding Kate Barlow’s stolen treasure rather than doing anything else. It’s also worth noting that Elya did something stupid that got the Yelnats family cursed while Trout did something evil that got the Walker family cursed.
  • The Walkers’ curse wasn’t just supernatural. It was also natural. Trout felt like he didn’t need an education because he has control of the lake and inherited the wealth, but he didn’t take into consideration that a drought could happen. Because if it did, he would lose his source of income. Meanwhile, Sam and Kate were great contributors to Green Lake because of Kate’s school and Sam’s onions. When the school got burned and Sam got killed, Green Lake lost its sources of prosperity. The Warden was no better either. While she did get some money, she was dependent on state subsidies, which if they cancel her contract (which has happened), she will lose the money.
  • As harsh as the curse the Yelnats faced, it wasn’t as bad as the Walkers. The curse is what kept the family alive, and it’s going to last until one of the descendants does exactly what Elya promised Madame Zeroni, but doesn’t. Which does happen since Stanley carried Zero up the mountain. The Walkers, however, were the ones responsible for the drought because of Sam’s murder. When the Warden got arrested, and Trout ultimately died in vain, the drought has ended.
  • The peaches were Kate’s, and the onions were Sam’s. Stanley and Zero ate peaches and onions, which helped them stay alive and find the treasure Kate stole from Stanley’s great grandfather. What did both duos had in common? Their biggest enemies were the Walker family.
  • Kate killed every man and stole their wealth, but the two lives she spared were Stanley Yelnats I and Trout Walker. For the former, it was a mix of good and bad luck since Kate had a good sense of judgment, but Madame Zeroni’s curse kept him alive to keep the curse to pass on. But for the latter, she hated him the most, and he had nothing for her to steal. She felt that it would be harsher to curse his family and make him spend the rest of his life digging than to kill him.

It’s a very interesting book. I like all that backstory.
