Whenever there's news that a game series I like is "planning on going in a new direction" I feel the Fear™️

like no, I need you to tell me what that actually means in clearly-defined practical terms pls

I find it funny that a lot of people thought New Horizons would go in a new direction for the mainline series, solely because of its crafting and its Pocket Camp similarities when it was announced. Some even thought that it would be a sequel to it. Well, the game came out, and needless to say, Nintendo played it safe and stuck to tradition for most features otherwise.

When it comes to other long-running series, that’s usually a different story for better or worse…

Has ANYONE here met friends or special someones via a non-school related club or adult group activities? Universities have this sort of thing everywhere, and I’m in the ripe age range, but I’m a dropout and have absolutely no desire to return to school for various reasons. I’m not entirely sure where to start.

Unfortunately, due to coughing so much and so violently from my flu, I now have laryngitis. Meaning I can't really talk. Thankfully though, it will go away, my voice box just needs to heal a bit.

Yes! My partner and I regularly scout out local groups/events in our city where we can meet new people. We seek out things that correspond with our interests, for example, we attend two (unaffiliated) board game events a month. We actually have a group of friends we met through these events coming to our house this Friday for takeout and a movie, plus we have three double dates lined-up in February with other couples we've met this way too (how to replace dating when you're old and boring haha). I co-lead a hobby-based group in our local area as well.

I’d really like to do something like that; I don’t get a ton of opportunities to play board games and they’re always fun. Unfortunately, my hometown is incredibly boring and only really offers events for kids and adult athletes, and I’m neither of those! 🤪

There are nearby cities I’d imagine offer similar things like what you mentioned. Heck, it’s not a long drive to Ann Arbor from where I live in Michigan, and there’s tons of college-aged people there like myself. Now, I know Facebook is a place to search up such events, but I don’t have an account and have no desire to get one anytime soon; how else could I get into contact? Is it as simple as looking in classifieds for example?

i was playing lioden after a long break, and apparently whoever made the custom code for my page deleted it because it got replaced with a photo of dr phil. beautiful.

This is the third time one of my posts from the Random Thoughts thread got deleted by a moderator within the last six months. If my posts are going to be deleted because they’re making others upset or uncomfortable, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post here anymore. To be fair, some of my more recent posts here have gotten more controversial. I wouldn’t defend any of my controversial posts, but the ones that got deleted compared a more serious issue to something that’s not as serious (which politicians and columnists have done, and evoked controversy afterwards), and that could start an argument. The other posts (like saying that Disney has gone woke) haven’t done that.

Four years ago, I was told that if I want to post freely, I must use the Random Thoughts thread rather than the General Discussion since the General Discussion is more of a discussion thread than a chat room. But even this thread is still closely watched. And no, when I said “I may not be allowed to post here anymore”, I’m not saying that as an insult towards the moderators for deleting my post (in fact, they gave a good explanation of why my post was deleted). I was thinking that because of common sense.

I wanted to chime in here to say we encourage you to continue sharing your random thoughts here.

I also want to mention that It's helpful to take a step back before hitting post to consider the potential impact of what you're posting may have on someone else. We have a diverse community of users, and we want to ensure that the environment remains a respectful one.

If you have a specific concern you'd like to address wirh the staff team, please feel free to drop us a line in the Contact the Staff board anytime. :)

Thanks Mairmalade! I’ll be more careful with what I say.

So what server on Discord is my favorite? Now it’s Mollycord. TBT is a better place for me to discuss Animal Crossing-related stuff and other things Nintendo, but Mollycord is for the Molly McGee fans. Unfortunately, it’s an invite-only server, at least at the time the show was still airing new episodes.

everyone in the Precure fandom has issues with the Wonderful PreCure! opening not including a fight scene or villains despite other seasons (KiraKira and Maho Tsukai) doing the same. here's the opening so you can see what I mean (Wonderful):

That's an interesting question. I can't say I have. All of my friends were met at work or previous held jobs. I wouldn't know where else to meet friends other than work. Usually people don't want to be approached by random strangers, and they most likely already have a friend group. I'm not sure how they'd feel about an outsider joining.

That’s my biggest fear if there’s nothing near me for non-college students. Almost all my co-workers are/were much older than me, and it’s been like that ever since the second job I had. My first job, Little Caesars, had many co-workers around my age, and only a few were over their 30s. Since quitting, most subsequent jobs had me with co-workers twice the age of me or older, and I’m currently the youngest employee in the transportation department of our school district.

I’m not into loud events and places, and this includes concerts and bars that a lot of others my age are into. Most of the time when I go to quieter places, it’s usually older people inside whom I don’t have an interest in talking to. I don’t want to change my career path for the sole purpose of trying to find relatable co-workers my age (moving out of my parents’ house is more important to me), but I’m having a real tough time finding co-workers I’d be interested in hanging out with.

This may sound a bit wrong, but my boss has a daughter that’s in the same graduating class and close to my age, and may know me already. I don’t think it would be professional to ask my boss to (re)introduce me to her, so I keep the urge to ask to myself; this is my boss we’re talking about, after all.

The site I use is quite specific to my interests and location, but I'd suggest just typing into Google "[hobby] event [city]" and seeing what comes up. For example, I just plugged "board game event [my city]" into Google and it came up with various events happening in the next couple of weeks near me.

The one thing I hate more than bugs is being scared of bugs. I don’t know why I am, I wish I was just not scared of them. It was always like this and I hate it. And then my family gets mad at me like it’s my fault and I can control what I’m scared of. Or maybe I can, I don’t know.

Alright, hopefully it’ll be as simple as that. Fingers crossed…

I was reading about Missable Content and Unrevisitable Areas in Mario games on Mariowiki. Aside from unused content, this is my favorite trivial part of games. For example, in New Super Mario Bros Wii, if you touch an Super Guide Block, you’ll never be able to get shiny stars on your save file, and if you ever so much as see an Assist Block in Super Mario 3D Land and complete the stage, you’ll never be able to get shiny stars on that file. Anyway, since I’ve been playing through Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, I decided to check that section and found out there’s actually a lot that I’ll never be able to get on my save file. I’m on Bowser’s Castle right now, and when you’re allowed to access it, Beanbean Castle Town is destroyed again, like at the beginning of the game. However, this time, it stays like this for the rest of the game. Meaning that you’ll never be allowed to access most buildings in the town again after this. You’re also not able to complete any missions for the people in the town, which I didn’t even know existed until yesterday, which is when I read about this. There’s also hidden blocks that you’ll never be able to get, and there’s a really good badge that you can get.

Moral of the story: don’t be like me. What exactly does that mean?… I don’t know, just don’t do what I did.
