If you had another local player, they can help you. I got Nookington’s in Wild World several times, but I didn’t start playing Animal Crossing online until 2014, when New Leaf was the big game.

My pfps can be so random. I'll have a character from some niche, obscure cartoon/anime that I like, and then all of a sudden, I change my pfp to some random failed presidential candidate that hardly anybody in this forum has heard of.

Yep, it's Dukakis. 😌
Idk why but I thought it was Peter Falk until I zoomed in. 😂

I used to think Taylor Swift’s real name wasn’t Taylor Swift. This might sound mean, but I assumed it was a stage name.

I want to know what happened to Sooga in the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom timeline/universe. 🤔

Yeah, that's Michael Dukakis' infamous tank ride photo. He rode around in an M1 Abrams Battle Tank wearing a big helmet that made him look like The Great Gazoo from The Flintstones. His polling numbers dropped after his ride and he subsequently lost the 1988 presidential election to George H.W. Bush.

My brain has been on the depressive topic of mortality today. A common one since granddad passed a little over a month ago.

I've been watching a TV show that aired over 20 years ago. And at the time you watched it weekly, so maybe it didn't feel so close, but there have been two character deaths close together.

One made sense in the context of the plot, but when the credits rolled I realised the actor passed unexpectedly, so they had reworked the plot around his passing. But they made it make perfect sense. I looked up the actor and they even included the real cause of death in the character's story (died shortly after triple bypass surgery).

The latter, the actor was still alive, so it was planned for storytelling. And I'm analysing as it as I go (I obtained a filmmaking degree and worked as a director/writer before retraining as a scientist) and it seems like it was just for shock value. It contributed absolutely nothing.

Death is so prevalent in media. And I'm fine with it when it serves a purpose. But when it doesn't it's like... why? 😶

Seeing death in media often reminds me of my own mortality. It's also a tad bit strange to think you've just watched someone essentially rehearse their own death – how far does an actor's performance stray from what it will be like when they, for real, pass? All those thoughts tend to run through my mind. When I die, will I just groan a little bit and close my eyes like an actor so often does? It must be very weird to act out. I think seeing it happen so often in shows and films desensitises it a fair bit. Also, I'm sorry for your loss.
