On my first play through of X, I was on my way back from glittering cave on the Rhyhorn and was running into pokemon I didn’t want every few steps, and was considering using a repel when I encountered it- a full odds shiny helioptile. I threw an ultra ball at it without doing damage because I was afraid of critical hitting and I got it. I didn’t nickname it, but I kept it as member of my party.
Two years later, I had done almost everything I wanted to do and was getting tired of playing. At the time, I knew shinies were rare, but I underestimated how rare they were (about 1/100 lol) and thought I’d get one on my next play through so I rested my save. The heliolisk was lost to the void. I’ve played seven main line games and to this day I haven’t encountered another shiny unexpectedly like that. (not including the ultra warp run thing from usum, that thing had super broken shiny odds)

. No in pokemon sword i am huting vulvix already battled 200 vulpix ( love that the pokedex tells you the amount of battles ) and still no shiny
