9 am for me. Willing to bet I'll oversleep again and miss it. Or stay up way late and go to bed once I realized I had the time wrong.

Tbh I don't think it'll be that big anyway. It'll probably just be a few of the early on pokemon (like regional bug/bird/rodent) revealed, and maybe names for the legends (which we basically already know). Could be wrong though but I'm not expecting anything big this time.

New video is out

Sun Pokemon is called Solgaleo, and is Psychic/Steel type with the Full Metal Body ability (which prevents its stats being lowered), has a signature move called Sunsteel Strike.

Solgaleo Information:
Since ancient times, Solgaleo has been honored as an emissary of the sun. It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that devours the sun.” Solgaleo's body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it's active. It has a flowing mane with a remarkable resemblance to the sun. Its signature move is Sunsteel Strike, an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, disregarding the target’s Ability.

Solgaleo’s Ability is Full Metal Body, a new Ability that no previous Pok?mon has had. With the Full Metal Body Ability, a Pok?mon’s stats will not be lowered by the effects of an opponent’s moves or Ability.

Lunala Information:
Since ancient times, Lunala has been honored as an emissary of the moon. It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that calls the moon.” Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy. With its wings spread to absorb the surrounding light and glittering like a crescent moon, it resembles a beautiful night sky. Lunala’s signature Moongeist Beam attack releases an ominous beam of light that disregards the target’s Ability.

Lunala’s Ability is Shadow Shield, a new Ability that no previous Pok?mon has had. With the Shadow Shield Ability, a Pok?mon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pok?mon has full HP.

Alola Region Information:
Your new adventures in Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon will take place on the tropical islands of the Alola region! The Alola region centers around four islands rich in natural beauty and an artificial island. Many Pok?mon that have never been seen before occupy these islands.

The world of Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon is filled with many colorful people in addition to the fascinating Pok?mon. Meet some of the folks you'll encounter as you travel through the Alola region.

You will choose to be a hero or heroine in Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon, and you can name yourself whatever you'd like. The story begins right after your character has moved to the Alola region. No sooner have you arrived than your adventures begin to unfold, and you'll meet many people and Pok?mon as you grow and learn.

Professor Kukui is the Alola region's dependable Pok?mon professor. He lives near your home and looks out for you. He's passionate about his research into Pok?mon moves and has sometimes taken direct hits from Pok?mon when there was something to be learned from it. Sporting a white lab coat slung casually over his bare torso, he shows off his own unique style.

Lillie is a mysterious girl who assists the professor. This young girl is about the same age as your character, and she's working as Professor Kukui’s assistant for personal reasons. She's not fond of making Pok?mon fight in battles, but she loves reading and has devoured many books. Lillie will play an important role in the story of Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon.

Hau is a Pok?mon-loving young boy with a big appetite! He's the same age as your character. When you move to the Alola region, he makes friends with you right away. He has a real weakness for malasada, a famous treat in the Alola region, and he is always in search of malasada shops. He is a big-hearted boy who really loves Pok?mon.

Rotom Pokedex Information:
The Pok?dex is a convenient tool that records information about the Pok?mon you see and catch during your adventure. In Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon, your character receives a special Pok?dex from Professor Kukui to support you in your travels. It's known as the Rotom Pok?dex, and it's inhabited by Rotom, a Pok?mon with the power to reside in various electronic appliances. It does much more than record Pok?mon info—it sparkles with its own personality. The Rotom Pok?dex shows your current location and your next destination, and it also gives you advice on where to go next, based on the conversations you have with others! It's likely to be of great help to you in many parts of your adventure.

The Rotom Pok?dex is an extremely rare device. There are only a few Trainers that have one, even in the Alola region.

QR Scanner Information:
In Pok?mon Sun and Pok?mon Moon, there is a QR Scanner function that allows you to see information about Pok?mon when you scan QR Code patterns. With the QR Scanner, you scan in a QR Code and check the information about the Pok?mon that corresponds to that QR Code. There are QR Code patterns in various places all around you, so try scanning them.

By scanning in special QR Code patterns you can register Pok?mon of the Alola region to your Pok?dex and find out where they live. If you scan in the QR Code for a Pok?mon that you haven’t yet caught, you can check its habitat and search it out.

You can display the QR Code patterns for Pok?mon you have caught in your own Pok?dex. If you and a friend show each other the QR Code patterns for Pok?mon you have caught, you can both register the Pok?mon in your Pok?dexes!

I'm sorry but that picture looks so much like Yo Kai Watch

Anyway, good trailer! But is Lillie the rival or that other guy?

lmao I love the professor design. and the Rotom Pok?dex is cute!

Holy schnitzel are you telling me that Rotom can freaking talk? That must be like the first time a Pokemon has been able to actually talk in the games... AND it's a Pokedex? Definitely hatching a shiny Rotom before these new games come out to take along with me on my adventures.

Also, Professor Kukui looks like a total bro and Lillie is cute as heck, can't wait to see more of them. Solgaleo being a Psychic/Steel type was completely unexpected though, not to mention is has the short end of the stick in the duo since it's typing doesn't resist Ghost.

Solgaleo, a pokemon inspired by the sun isn't even a fire type.

HAHAHA, that's dumb.

The Sun legendary is weak to Fire.
Also the Moon legendary is weak to Dark.

GG
Seriously though their new abilities better give them immunities to those types. They advertise Full Heavy Metal and Shadow Shield as being completely new abilities yet they do the exact same thing as Clear Body and Multiscale.

This was my first thought too. Kind of annoying that these are the new legendary mascots, yet their abilites are just rehashes of what we've had before.

Anyway, the trainer artwork has something similar to a mega evolution bracelet from Gen 6. They have the yellow (for the male trainer) and blue (for the female trainer) crystals that are in the Japanese logos for Moon and Sun, respectively. FYI, the Gen 6 JPN logos had the double helix mega evolution symbol in them. Joe from Serebii noted that in the latest episode of the Japanese anime that aired shortly before the news drop, had a new animation for the Ash-Greninja transformation that was different from every other time it had activated, speculating it would appear in the next main games. So maybe this is related? Just pure speculation at this point though, but the yellow/blue crystals definitely have some significance.

Update from Serebii: In a special video on the Japanese site, the Pok?dex lists the Alola Pok?dex and the MeleMele Pok?dex.

So were Zekrom's and Reshiram's, even though they were just Mold Breaker.

Ayy I completely forgot about those two... but still. In between the abilities and the typings there doesn't seem to be that much special about these two yet. In my opinion that best part about that promo was honestly the Rotom Dex.

Oh well, hopefully Solgaleo's and Lunala's signatures are cool. I still love them regardless, though. :p

I got into a discussion with some friends following the video. We're thinking that if clothing options were available in this game, they would have been shown alongside the skin color options. If you look at the gameplay footage from both trailers we've seen so far, you'll notice that neither the male nor the female protagonist have different clothes at any point.

If that's the case, I am greatly disappointed. I don't even care if they just recycled the same clothes from Kalos, I was hoping for it to return. I've primarily played as the female trainer since it first became an option in Crystal (though I have used the male option from time to time on extra copies). I really dislike the way Sun & Moon's female trainer looks. Her hat just sort of looks like a glove. It also kind of reminds me of the comb on the top of a chicken's head. The only ways I could feel a bit better about this would be that either a) we're wrong or b) Game Freak actually gives us the option to take off our hats. Suffice it to say, I don't expect either to be the case.

Considering what Serebii's Joe said about the Synchro/Ash-Greninja thing, all I can imagine is that I'm going to end up giving my Pokemon the same ugly hat as my character. The Synchro mechanics would undoubtedly be too complicated with all those other clothing options from Kalos, but man...

As far as the rest of the video goes, nothing else really struck me. It just further cemented the fact that I like Lunala more than Solgaleo and am going to favor Moon. As for the Rotom-possessed Pokedex, I'm not all that excited. It might be a nice feature, but I'm not really feeling the whole ability to talk thing.

Overall, some of the wind has been taken out of my sails regarding Sun & Moon. I'm still looking forward to playing them, but I'm not hyped.

It was pointed out earlier in the thread that the male protagonist's clothing changed in the first trailer. Clothing customization is basically confirmed to be included.

It is? I checked it again a few minutes ago and didn't notice anything different. I'll go check again.

If you're right, thank goodness.

Edit: Huh, it does appear that you're right. Upon further inspection, there is a frame where the male protagonist has a differently colored striped shirt and black pants. I'm not entirely convinced because they look similar enough that it could be as simple as a graphical bug that will or already has been fixed between now and release. But for now I'll be cautiously optimistic about the chances it will be back.

Hey, here.

Main character in the US trailer at the 1:16 mark has a black striped shirt with black & white pants. Everywhere else he has a blue striped shirt with black and red pants. Same hair color and skin tone too, so we know the clothing isn't dependent on what you choose at the beginning of the game.

It was one of the earlier trailers btw, this one...

EDIT: Never mind, it looks like you already got it lol

Not too happy about Sogaleo and Lunala's abilities but their signature moves look amazing.

The Rotom Pokedex seemed a bit random and weird cause Rotom is a gen 4 Pokemon...wait.

Rotom is gen 4...Rotom Pokedex in Gen 7...

DIAMOND AND PEARL REMAKES CONFIRMED!!!!

Diamond and Pearl remakes would be nice, especially since those are the first games I've ever played and the Creation Trio are my favorite legendaries... but I doubt we're getting them anytime soon. Not until the next new hand-held console, at least... then again, this is the first time we've gotten two new generations of Pokemon on the same system since the Game Boy/Game Boy Color I think? So who knows.
