PSA about the 300 balloon glitch

hello! this mightve been pointed out already but today alone ive seen a lot of people still anxious about the balloon glitch. from what ive heard circulating in animal crossing discords and on twitter, the real source of the glitch is the achievement, "It's Raining Treasure!" as in, it's not the actual act of popping 300 balloons, it's the act of ACCEPTING that achievement and receiving your nook miles. in short, you can continue popping balloons as you please, just when you do get 300, IGNORE that achievement for the time being until the glitch is patched.

i have not experienced this myself, but this is the news spreading everywhere so i thought i'd say something since not many seem aware of this factor. please correct me if anyone knowledgeably knows this as false, and i'll edit this post.

some people are saying even with keeping the achievement, they still don't get balloons, so it's a bit up in air. just keep this in mind if you do reach the achievement and don't collect on it, in case it does halt the glitch. i cannot personally confirm if its factual or not :/

then it seems it may be a bit random if you do or not. ill add that to the OP. there's still quite a few accounts saying that keeping the achievement let them continue to get balloons, so thats interesting.

Do we know if every person who reaches (or accepts) the achievement encounters this problem? Just curious what the odds are of getting screwed.

Especially bad timing with the current eggpocalypse—and the fact that the Sakura DIY coincide with it.
