Monkeys were a mistake. This terrifying species was introduced in WW but you had to actually consent (by downloading them) to have them in your town. From CF on, they could move in at will, wreaking havoc on your rosebeds and emotionally scarring young little yours truly. I still have nightmares based on the time when Tammi popped out from behind a bush to accost me.

Does anyone here actually like any of the monkeys? I never see them on the top of favorite villager lists or wishlists villagers people hope will be in their town in NH.

They're just too close to human to be cute, and I would much rather them be replaced with a more unusual species like Seals, Giraffes (since Gracie hasn't been shown), Red Pandas, Sugar Gliders/Possums, Weasels/Ferrets, Panthers (Leopards, Jaguars), or simply more variety of cats, dogs, and birds so that they have different face shapes, ear shapes, feather plumes, etc. Because of course, cat breeds and dog breeds look very distinct, and there are many species of birds that look very different too. I would really want huskies, samoyeds, poms, shiba inu, and aussie shepherd for dogs. British shorthair, persians, and seal-point birman for cats. I'd like cardinals, peacocks (should be smug male!), and birds with funny crests on their heads, too.

What species would you replace monkeys with? What unique-looking breeds of existing species would you replace them with? Or are you here to defend the honor of monkey villagers?

All the monkeys have good designs to me, none have unibrows or awkward hair I have Tami and Nana (or maybe Deli, I haven't had time to work on that town in weeks) in one of my towns.

I'm not sure how I feel about giraffe villagers, I hate Gracie because she made me wash her awful, gaudy car in gamecube. >:[
But I could see how they could be done well.
Monkeys in real life, though, are usually creepy to me.

I quite like the Monkey species. I remember having one in my first ever Animal Crossing town (GameCube)

Can't for the life of me remember which one. Anyone chuck a few names at me?

I actually really like the monkeys. I feel like we just don’t have any cute ones that can move into our town. Like porter is adorable. I want monkey villagers that are cute like that.

I’d also love giraffes to be able to move to my island. Seals would be so cute! Along with the other animals you mentioned.

I agree the dogs and cats should have different types. We have different bear and different bird types for example. So why not have different cats and dogs.

I'd love orangutans to be added since I love them irl I dot really like the mouths of the gorillas.

I like the wolves but Whitney scares me for some reason,.. Her head is quite big and it just makes me feel a little uneasy...

I'm not really into the monkeys either, I think we all have species we prefer in towns!
Not really a fan of any of the mice either - when one comes out that I like, I'll like them but none of them spark any interest atm.

I'd love for them to add many species like meerkats and sharks, moths, dragons

Since they have cubs, I'd also love for them to add cub lions and lionesses, calves, foals, etc! I really would love calves though! So so much since I looove cows!

I think we may be surprised so I'm hoping for the best! But I totally get you! Let's hope they add some to the monkey list that make us like that monkey! ⸌̷̻ ( ᷇๑ॢ˃̶͈̀ ꇴ ˂̶͈́๑ॢ) ⸌̷̻

Don't you mean WW? none of the gamecube/n64 games didn't have monkeys, but they had gorillas

Deli, Monty Elise, Simon,Tammi flip Nana and Shari (plus champ)

We kinda evolved from them, so as creepy looking as they may be in-game, we've got to cut them some slack. though I will never allow a monkey on my island.

Actually, you're right, it was a Gorilla. I don't recognise those names, though.

That's a good point! We could also simply have baby versions of animals, especially when they look quite different from the adults. Baby calves, baby kittens, baby wolf pups, baby yodas...

I feel like if we had evolved from cats instead, the world would be a better place. But no, of course it had to be from the animals that fling their own poop at each other.
:(

:(

I've seen them throw it at people when dad took us to the zoo when we were kids.

Freaking hilarious.

I 'd throw poop too if I was kept in a cage for years.

Monkeys and gorillas are not my favorites. I just usually ignore them altogether. But I reckon that mice is (usually) the specie that garners the least favorable remarks of all Animal Crossing species.

Monkey villagers have never been my favorite, but I guess I put them in the "whatever category." I don't not like them, but I've never seen a monkey villager I actually wanted in my town.

All "M" species were a mistake! Yeah now that you bring it up I do hope that they rework the mouse designs for NH. There's no reason why mice shouldn't be cute, or make them more hamsterlike. But I wonder if they would ever want to revise 'canon' appearances. I don't think anyone would complain in this instance

hate to be that guy, but we did not evolve from chimpanzees.... humans and chimpanzees just have a more common ancestor than other mammals. We both descended from that common ancestor in a branched lineage

the more you know

and also yeah, the monkey villagers are terrifying... it would take a lot for me to put one in my town willingly

Who summoned me? Hehe...

I can?t say that I?m a big fan of monkeys irl, but they really aren?t as bad as some people say. Sure, they may not fit into the typical cute category, at least not as good as other villagers. I still like a few of them quite a lot. Elise is basically the quirky but lovable girl in my town who likes to go thrift shopping and try out exotic recipes while she lectures me about how outdated my socks look.

I think Nana and Shari are totally adorable! I?d love even more cute monkey designs though because a lot of the monkey villagers are definitely kind of odd looking.

I like some of the monkeys, but I dislike the gorillas and big cats. And most of the mice, for some reason.

I'd love to see weasles/ermines, and more bird variety too. And BATS! Please please please, I want bat villagers!

Huh, I see nothing offensive about the monkey designs, they're perfectly fine. Is it just a distaste for real life monkeys bleeding into AC for everyone here? I think Nana and Tammi are my faves, if they moved in I'd be okay with it.

Apes. We are primates.
