It's been a long time coming, they had a lot of chances to do something about it.
Tons of people I've followed on there have previously been banned or had it banned in their country, so I've mostly been following people elsewhere for a bit now.

like this is a trashfire decision regardless of how effectively utilized it is, but wow. imagine your curation systems being so bad that something like a sky gets flagged as porn

It is only the first day of this and even the safe for work stuff is getting flagged is inappropriate. Many seem to be migrating to twitter or newgrounds of all places.

The surge in traffic might have crashed Newgrounds. It did just occur to me that there were some old tumblr blogs with neat custom qr code designs. Those might be gone now.

it's my primary source of content despite the fact i have five "callout posts" so i'm pretty bummed out about this whole garbage decision since other social media either makes my paranoia spike or i'm just not interested in it
i know it's not actually gonna shut down though lol staff does stuff like this at least 3 times a year since they don't know how to run a website so extension writers have to do it for them

minors having access to and such certainly is, but none of this is about that. and there's ways to deal with those sort of issues that isn't just to kick everyone all out. this is pure corporate optics to present a facade of family-friendly accessibility and nothing else

now maybe if these platforms started to properly moderate hate speech and all, but of course they'll never do that. since that would both require actual work and effort and drive away a userbase they honestly value far more than they'll ever openly admit

I won't miss all the tumblrinas either lol. But yeah it was destined to happen. Sure there was some good gaming ones but honestly some communities like LGBTQ+ and various subcultures please stop. You are nothing like it is.
