Just to clarify, I am aware of the artists who are going to lose their platform, but there are others that exist that they can still set up on. It's not like Tumblr is the only place these artists can do their work.
And Tumblr is kinda a cesspit of all sorts of mess *cough* Nazis *cough*, that whole site could just do with a cleanse

I'm an artist. I have a few thousand followers on tumblr. I could migrate elsewhere, but my followers would be lost. I dislike Twitter in general. I have tried Instagram, but even though I haven't linked any other accounts or my phone number to my Instagram, people from my real life started following me on there. I absolutely don't like mixing my online life and my personal life. This is a personal thing, but it's something I'm very iffy about. There are other platforms that I use that are related to my art, but they are not nearly as big as Tumblr. There's nothing wrong with disliking other platforms and it's not easy to just move all of your photos and coerce your followers to come with you.

I'd like to know what you think if it. Twitter is just going to compress things and add artifacting.

Slightly off topic, but I'd like to find some specific pics involving Wonderbread. Someone actually went around and commissioned multiple artists to draw fictional mother characters at a grocery store with a loaded cart, mostly looking at a Wonderbread shelf. One of these pieces includes one such Mother angrily using a crinkly Wonderbread branded chainsaw to remove a forest. I'm pretty sure these were on tumblr.

Tumblr has been a disaster from day one. The staff have no idea how to run a website in my opinion.

It's unfortunate but it's their way of dealing with things, apparently. What's even more unfortunate is how a picture of my laptop and notebook for linguistics got flagged earlier; if you're going to set up an algorithm for flagging NSFW content, make one that works.

Tumblr flagged someome's reblog of their OWN post talking about the Dec 17th thing. Like are you Frickin serious?

I want to continue using tumblr, but it seems like it's goin to the shooter, people are looking for other sites to go to. Their bots are defective and their system is messed up. Tumblr has cool features that twitter doesn't have, but idk. I guess I gave to see what it seems like once Dec 17th comes.

i like tumblr. it's home to some more niche communities, and can harbour a lot of lovely interaction. of course, like any social media, it also has a ton of crap and arseholes, sprinkled throughout.. really a shame for anyone with good intentions to be affected like this. pretty disappointed such a big company can't oh, i don't know, try to weed out any really nasty stuff, before they just zap everything even mildly related into oblivion.

Why don't you want to go there?

I hate the interface. I dislike how limited you are in terms of your posts, how if you want something to show up in other's feeds you have to use a million hashtags and it looks tacky. Basically it's not for me. I prefer blogging platforms and I liked how on tumblr you were pretty much unlimited. Key word: WERE
