Rumor: Nintendo is planning to create a new set of Amiibo cards, probably to introduce the new neighbors

I've been waiting for them to do this. It was a wonder why they didn't do it sooner.

I have no interest in any of the newer villagers so if this turns out to be true, I'll pass. Hopefully anyone who wants them, gets them, instead of greedy scalpers.
 
although I personally have no interest in buying cards for any of the new villagers, I do hope they bring them out for the sake of people who genuinely want the newer villagers without the hefty price tag (read: Raymond). I'm also surprised that they haven't brought them out yet and we even got the sanrio release before we got the new villagers
 
I'd like the cards just for the purpose of adding them to my collection if I were to get them tbh. I'm kinda surprised they didn't release them a while ago when they probably could of made a huge profit when the game was bigger in popularity over quarantine with the Raymond scam insanity xD
 
Good, it's about time. I hope missing villagers like Champ are also included since they're long overdue, but I get the priority being on the new villagers such as Raymond, Audie, Dom, and the like. They being able to be invited from other islands is a good way to stick it to scalpers as well. There will be no more artificial rarity which will take a nice chunk of change out of their pockets given they'll try to inflate the value via Ebay and other sites.
 
I haven't heard of anything like this releasing through any official statements by nintendo. Are you confusing amiibo cards with those ACNH themed candy cards from japan that are releasing new cards with the new villagers? (Basically a trading card with a villager gummy, not amiibo though.) I would really like for this to be true although you're probably confused or heard it from a leek. Please correct me if I am wrong. I really want to be wrong about this lol.


EDIT: After thinking about it more I assume you talking about amiibo card restocks? An amiibo card restock is just a rerelease/reprint of already existing amiibo cards because the previous stock sold out. No new villagers are added as amiibo cards.

EDIT #2: I checked and I couldn't find anything to support the claim of new villager amiibo cards online. So uh yeah they aren't coming. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course, I think I'll buy them as always lol. Even if out of the eight new characters I just like Cyd (love his look, really!) but I think the two cute buddies (Flick and C.J) are really the ones giving me motivation to spend money. I don't know, let's see first. Because I'm not a big fan of the new villagers we get here. Raymond and Audie almost everybody likes them but I just cannot. Don't find them cute at all.
 
I’d probably try to get them if they’re not obtainable without scanning them in (like the Sanrio villagers), but I’m not gonna get too excited.
 
ngl, my favorite thing is that this is about the same level as leaking that nintendo plans to make a new mario game

tldr;
there is a HUGE gap in amiibo ID numbers (103 to be exact) between Cat Peach (03A7 in hex; 935 in decimal) and Magnamalo (040F in hex; 1039 in decimal). This huge gap is usually reserved for a series of amiibo cards.

This, of course, does not guarantee that all 100 will be used. But it's very interesting indeed.

Thanks Rosch! I forgot what thread I saw you link it on. So this thread is just speculation. I am relieved. I am still mad how they handled the Sanrio cards and the scalpers.

OP could you rename this thread to maybe include rumors in it since this is not confirmed?
 
We see there is a bit of confusion, so we've gone ahead and edited the thread title for clarity as nothing regarding new Amiibo cards has officially been determined at this time. :)


I wouldn't be surprised if we saw new cards given the general popularity of existing cards & Sanrio. I could see them being introduced as a smaller set, similar to New Leaf's 'Welcome Amiibo.' Time will tell!
 
I’m still skeptical on the likelihood of this happening so soon, but I would support it if Nintendo really decide to go with the idea. It would definitely make Raymond and Judy fans everywhere happy. (And I could finally get hold of a Raymond without paying for hefty prices kekeke) But please please Nintendo don’t make this into another Sanrio situation.
 
I don't wanna get my hopes up but I would love for this to be true! I could see it coming as an announcement by summer, like around the time nintendo's summer showcase or E3 is usually held, with release being being in the fall, along with a pretty big NH update, with new furniture, returning npc's, added mini-games and all!
Well, I can see it in my dreams anyway.😄
 
If this turns out to be a real thing one day, I maybe consider to try getting at least those cards of the villagers I would like to have on my island at one point, in particular Raymond and Dom. It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo has plans to release more amiibo cards, although I can already imagine the madness when people try to obtain those, with scalpers getting into the party too and ruining everything yet again.
