Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
I kinda love the idea of having the stores right in the town, rather than in a completely different area. I also want to be able to change the storefronts of each shop, just like in HHD. That way, everyone's town won't look so samey. Another alternative is that the shops stay in Main Street (or whatever the equivalent is) but the NPCs have houses in town, and you can visit them there when their stores are closed.
re-tail, nooklings+leif, able sisters+shampoodle+kicks, museum, and town hall+post office in the town
nook's homes/hha, graciegrace, and anything else on main street or whatever equivalent
re-tail is now just customization and display-for-sale items. all normal selling is handled entirely by the nookling store, with the slight exception of premium items. which reese will pay more for, but will only buy those specified items from you
the + just indicates groupings into a single building. so kicks still does his own thing being the premier shoe saleskunk (plus maybe some other stuff such as gloves or bags as wel), but can now be accessed directly from within the able sister's building. either as his own separate area, or something like leif's shop in t&t emporium
and of course, this is all just using new leaf's storefront situations as a base, and the next game could do something like put tom nook back as the main storefront person
also, put k.k. back in the town on saturday nights, either at brewster's or in front of the train station
I want K.K. to play in certain areas depending on the weather on Saturday nights after 8 PM (if it's raining, he plays inside, if it's a nice night, I want him outside) I felt bad for him in the GC when it was raining on saturdays...
I liked how New Leaf had all the shops in one area, so I'd really like that again.
It was convienent and gave more room to work with in town. Even if the town size grows, keeping them all in one area is my preference.
As for the npcs, I think a little upstair home in the shops would be super cute. So maybe something like that?
I really like there being a fixed shopping district xD Much more streamlined, plus it feels like you’re getting out and going somewhere, at least a little bit. That said..
-I’d enjoy if you could take on mild landscaping out there? Different trees or something.
-I like the idea of a few small shops within town- somewhere closer that you can sell items, and the Roost is a great place to just go and chill, especially as a night player.
-I would /love/ NPC homes! Though I think I agree with it being more of a loft/apartment above situation unless we get /way/ more control over where houses go- it’s hard enough planning landscaping and your own home around the rocks, plaza & etc already there; finding a nice layout with at least another like 2-4 starting houses would be /exhausting/.
-Would adore seeing K.K. around town! (It’d be adorable like, really late Saturday nights or early Saturday mornings to see him practicing in the RV lot with Harv, if that’s kept up...)
ohhhh NPC houses would be so cool!!!!!! but having both those and the shops in town could get pretty crowded...i think out of these options the one i like best is keeping main street while NPCs have their own little houses
I chose the second option. It feels so weird not being able to see where they hang out during after-hours aside the occasional appearances in the roost. Plus, it would be cool how more of their personality would be revealed (just like how Isabelle graduated from numerous universities if I recall correctly).
I really like the shopping district, and I think I'd be disappointed if they made it part of the town proper. I even would like town hall, Brewsters, and the police station to be in the shopping district so I'd have more room in my town for landscaping/pwps.
If all of the shops were scattered around town, there would probably be more shops than villager houses, which just wouldn't feel right IMO. The town would feel more like a shopping center than a village. So for that reason, I'd prefer most of the shops to be separate, whether it's a Main Street, a separate city (like on Wii), or something different altogether.
I'd prefer the shops to be in a separate are like the main street, because everything would be in one place and the map wouldn't be so cluttered. But I didn't like the atmosphere in the main street, because it felt empty for a shopping area and everything was basically just placed next to each other. I think they could improve the feeling greatly by making it more like the city from City Folk, minus the bus ride, because it was annoying getting there. The way main street handled travelling to it was a vast improvement.
The NPCs should definitely get houses inside the city, after all they have to sleep/live somewhere. It would also feel a bit more natural if they have actual houses besides their shops.
I chose option three! I like the idea of having a separate shopping area as that was one of my favourite features of NL and CF, and the NPCs having their homes above their stores (and maybe each being available to visit on a different day each week after shop hours) would be super cute!
I'd prefer stores like Nook's, Able Sisters, Post Office, Museum etc. in town like the older games and a shopping district for many stores and restaurants/caf?s like NL/CF/HHD.
I really like having a shopping district because it takes up less space in the town itself that I can then use to put pwps / gardens / houses on. Plus.... unless you could personally pick where every shop goes, I think I'd actually hate having shops return to the town, because there's a good chance I'd hate the predetermined locations for at least one of the shops. I'm also kind of wary on npcs having homes in town because, again, I feel like it'd take up valuable space. That being said, I think it'd be cute if they lived in their stores. Maybe it could work like in stardew valley or harvest moon, where their stores are upfront / downstairs, and their living quarters are in the back / upstairs. I'd probably like it even more if you only had access to their living quarters once you've befriended them a bit, sort of like how unlocking the qr machine works.
as much as i'd love having the NPCs live in town with me, i want as much space as possible to customize my town! maybe if they all lived near the train tracks in a neat little row that would be nice.
If they expand the stores slightly, they could have a shop floor and then a back room which the NPCs live in, which you could visit only if your friendship is high enough / you'd bought enough items. So pretty much the stores inside their home. It would be cool to have Cyrus work in a garage attached to Retail as apposed to inside it!
While I really like the idea of Tom Nook's and the Able Sisters' stores being in the town like they were in the original games, maybe Nintendo could implement a shopping mall location for the newer editions. Gracie Grace screams luxury mall, and Brewster's could either be in the museum once more or function as a sort of food court. Maybe the idea of a shopping mall is too outdated; I don't know. But personally, I quite like this idea.
Not sure if I would rather have the shops in the actual town or the NPC houses. Both sounds
for me quite nice, like having a bigger town with more buildings or houses. Hm, why not both,
lol.
