Hmm... I think I'd prefer to have all shops on the Main Street. Just have the town as a peaceful sleepy area... though, I wouldn't mind having some kind of club or tavern in the town for everyone to gather at. :3
Walking to see the new items at the shops is part of the experience, I think. And it's one of the reasons why I never really saw Pocket Camp as a major AC game - when you can do all you need just from the menus (gift presents, buy items), it just feels less interesting. The more there is to do and see, the better!! ^_^

I would love if store locations of shops could be chosen/built, or maybe on the map when you first create the town (like with the beginning of the game where you get to chose a map layout).

I hope for a different scenario: All shops and other non-villager buildings begin as part of an entirely different city, of which could be accessed via an air balloon. But as our town grows, we gain the ability to add any of them to our town via public works projects. This, however, is optional, and all functionality remains in the city whether we add them or not.

I'd love this as a compromise, as it allows for much more customization and contrast between towns. Ones that wish to stay rustic and clean may keep it so, while those that want a more developed town may make it so as well. But either way, each player may still access the same shops, regardless.

:3

I feel like it would overcrowd having the stores all set in the town, I also enjoy taking a visit to main street because its a different environment and feels separate, I wouldnt mind the city coming back and some of the stores being in the town though

i kinda think that the way new leaf did it was perfect but i wouldn't mind a few more pwp like shops

If they are going to combine all aspects of past (or recent) animal crossing games, I wouldn?t mind if shops are in main street or in town but I?d like for NPC shop buildings to be customizable like in HHD (of course, if the town is much much bigger). This can be step by step and not immediate. Eg. If kicks has a shop, you can only be given the option to customize after buying a certain amount of things from his shop (like the current Nook upgrades, or doing chores for Nook like I?m Wild World). I would also like for NPCs to have their own houses, either on the top floor of their shop or somewhere else, that can be accessed after closing time. It would be cute if players could have their own shop too (kinda eliminating the flea market space in retail but whatever) that we can customize, much like the department store we get to design in HHD. I?d just really like for more customization, since the Main Street area in HHD gives me so many ideas for possible shop decorations! It would feel like we really get a say in building a town from the bottom up.
