135 (Afternoon)Late update today. My teeth are starting to feel like MAX PAYNE because I got power chains for my braces. OOF.
Anyways, it's another rainy day in Somnus!
I went to check the bushes I planted and well. I now realize that snails are now claiming ownership of these bushes.
That's fine and dandy but that's not a permanent placement of bushes. Sorry snailies!
Then, I went down to check my Resident Services Plaza to check who's around!
It's Fang and Snake singing together in the rain! CUTE! Though...please don't get sick!
Then, Cherry went to give me a challenge to find a "treasure"! That was really a close call! Who would've thought it was at the orchard? My reward for finding the "treasure" is a baby-chick costume! I guess that's a sure way to say goodbye to the Easter menace...
I went to check for other people and...SOMEONE'S SPREADING GOSSIP ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY. STOP. I DIDN'T WANT TO REMEMBER THAT TRAVESTY NOOOOOOOOO!
Everyone really gasped and remembered what happened when I hauled a ton of unidentified fossils only be all duds. Listen, everyone. You're just rubbing salt to my wounds!
Also, Raymond. No. I know you want to become a fashion designer one day but this ain't it. (If you wanted to know anyways, ask Ankha...)
Other things to take note of:
Snake having cute as hell moments!
You do not look like a cute music player. You look like a cute rabbit.
Snake, your crush with Cheri is showing. It's really funny because this is so one-sided but he's so pure about it. (Snake often talks about Cheri a lot.)
Cherry also has her lore moments. It's kinda convenient because I made Jacques and Cherry some sort of childhood friends who were rivals. I guess the game loves to provide me some more bonus lore content. (Love how it fits too because "he".)
I think it's silly to think that Cherry would remember such a thing though. Don't worry, Cherry! We all had those umbrella swordfights in our childhood.
Lastly, I went to visit my friend's town to say hi and check out Celeste! I was trying my best to get a Cresent-Moon Chair DIY to no avail. Oh well. Better luck next time!
I should start thinking about redoing the Resident Services Plaza soon. Hopefully my braces won't give me a lot of headache...anyways! That's all for today! Thanks for tuning in!

Thank youu!!! It's been a habit of mine to do backstories for most games I play that doesn't have an established storyline hehe. In NL, my mayor-now-island rep (Hime) and 2 other people were the focus of the town so I focused on their backstories but I wanted to do it with my villagers too! Everyone is actually from the old NL town I had! (Minus Raymond, Diana, Jaqcues and Fang!)
I'm working on Cherry, Cheri and Jacques atm though I might take it easy because my braces are starting to hurt lol. (I actually have the ideas for everyone but haven't written it yet.)
Also it isn't late! Just write whatever you want! I always look at everyone's island journals because it's nice to see people documenting progress! Think of it as a track page to follow through what you did yesterday and so on. (or use it as a creative space! I do so here without clogging the ACNH general.)
Thank you! ❤ I would love to build attachment and connection to my villagers as much as I can. Not that I can't, I just want to do the extra steps! Also, I'm hoping that putting stories and art with my villagers inspires everyone to connect with their own villagers! ☺ (It's just I've seen so many posts with people unable to connect with their own which is really sad to see.)

So, May 1st finally arrived. Time flies by so quickly, huh. Somnus continues on with it's lax and carefree life...
Jacques went to inform me about May Day during midnight. He's always quite up to date with what needs to be done. Other than, Mitzi, they've been a very reliable source where to go to. Isabelle hasn't been that much of a help with me.
Following the given instructions from Jacques, I went to Tom Nook and did the maze. It was quite easier than I thought.
The maze doesn't have any thing else other than the prizes, so I left as soon as I finished my business. Too bad I can't keep the bushes though. I do appreciate how they call back to the past games without it being "in your face". I love subtle call-backs.
Went back to report to Tom Nook about my accomplishment. I enjoyed it a lot! Thank you!
Too bad you only get to do this once in a year, but, fun regardless!
After doing the May Day maze, I found Mitzi singing K.K. Condor. I've been a huge fan of El Condor Pasa since I've heard it in a gacha game. I'm the type who tends to get emotional over music so I tend to put K.K. Condor on during calm days. It helps me ease up and lessen the pain my braces is causing me lol.
Mitzi left rather quick when she realized I was filming her! I'm sorry! You were just too cute!
Going around the residential area, I found Cheri sneaking in like a fox. Cheri what are you up to?

After that little...talk with Cheri, I just ran to Marshal's house and here he is secretly working out. You never work out outside, Marshy. Why?

Hoping I won't ever bump to Cheri again, she's talking about going to give a present to Fang. She actually asked the right person since Mitzi and Fang are acquainted (actually, having a mentor-pupil relationship)

Ok. Now I'm concerned. So is Snake working for Jacques? I swear to god. If Snake's the one collecting info, Jacques must be the one circulating them. No wonder Jacques knows everything. Not helping this happened earlier:

The month just started and there's already a lot of things going on today. I'm so happy that Somnus has became more livelier as days goes on! To end this update, I'm going to attach a lovely photo of Raymond sleeping under a tree!

Somnus's Cherry has vitiligo so yeah... FINALLY! All villagers done!
Also, F.A.Q is updated! Research Corner will be added soon! "Established Island Lore" section will be added under "Know The Residents" post eventually! Then, I will be adding the island SNS (Twitter) for those who are only interested in photos! Also, every 1st of the month, there will be a haiku as an opening and to celebrate a new chapter of the island!
The journal index will always keep changing and maintained until it's satisfactory so please look forward to it!
Also, thank you all so much for the (silent) support and following through the island's daily happenings! We've reached a thousand views and maybe it doesn't seem much but I appreciate everyone dropping by!

Booting the game, I saw Fang, Diana and Snake hanging out together! I thought it was pretty cute!
So, about the planning. I really need to deal with the overabundance of roses in my island. It's pretty cute and all but it's difficult to terraform when I have dozens of flowers to move...
...it might take a while but I'll get there eventually!
Also, Bob is visiting Somnus! Mitzi had too much clothes in her house so I decided to let her move away temporarily and get her back in.
Before I tried kicking her out, she commented on how much of a "social butterfly" I was yesterday. Well. When you're trapped inside due to quarantine it do be like that.
It's sad to see her go even if it's just temporary...sorry! It'll be quick!
Trying to shake the thought of it out, I went to stop by at Snake and Raymond's home.
Sure you are, Raymond. You're quite the rapper I heard. No wonder you're a karaoke star. Though I doubt that opera part.
Snake, I'm not sure if you're low-key flirting or just being too darn pure. Not gonna lie though, I'd appreciate some massage. My back's creaking like crazy!
Realizing it's almost time for K.K Slider. concert, I rushed to the plaza and got a seat!
I just waited until 6pm started! Got myself a nifty song! My boyfriend told me to input this since it's non-orderable. So I did!
After the concert, I went to put the song in to the one of the music players in the plaza. I love the aircheck version of it. I love gentle and lovely French music!
Then, I went to the beach later on to unwind for a bit! I saw Snake and just wanted to say hi! Hey Snake, what are you up to-
Uh-huh. I see. LMAO. I can't just help but hear that in Daisuke Ono's Jyushimatsu's voice. LMAO. OK. That's it. Your canon voice is now that. No buts.
I also did a couple of things! I finally caught a diving beetle and unlocked the Nook Shopping app! Also, diving beetles look so gross not gonna lie. They weren't that bad in New Leaf....Brr. (I wish we also had an ABD app. Just cause going back and forth while trading via bells is so inconvenient!)
Lastly, I actually tried patching up the plaza! I turned it into a performance/karaoke area since my residents are always hanging out and singing here! Instruments not final but will stay there for a while!
I will add little seats for spectators to watch. At least enough space so it can accommodate floor-sitters like some residents...
Not much going on but I really got too busy with planning! Phew! Thanks for tuning in as always!

Totally agree with the ABD app - I'm just lazy when it comes to things like that and would love anything that saves a little bit of time. Being able to withdraw bells for items remotely (or even a choice to pay from your bank) would be amazing!

Yes! I actually decided to put that there as a clear indication that it's a karaoke/performance area. The lights are quite gentle on the eyes so it's great! Day or night, it's lovely. Fang and Chief being both cranky is so funny because they have very deep voice but when they sing their voices go higher LOL!

Agreed. An ABD app is so essential because I mean, do you really want to waste 10 minutes going back and forth unloading bells to the host island? I don't think so! I spent 16 hours accumulative unloading 350m IGB to pay off Raymond! THAT WAS A NIGHTMARE TO GO THROUGH! (I'll add it in the island lore actually LMAO.)

日記お知らせ Hi, everyone! It's a non-island update for today! I would like to notify everyone that new entries will resume starting tomorrow.
I've been gathering important data and information regarding save data wipe issue since yesterday. This is a very important thing and will prioritize the safety of others. I'm sure the Somnus residents would understand. Aside from trading, I do like to collect information.

May 5th, 2020 8:30pm Weather: Sunny ☀Hot item : Frying Pan and Plain Wooden Shop Sign Turnip Price: 76 (Afternoon)Today in Somnus, we had a lovely weather today! I booted up the game and...AHA! I knew it Snake and Jacques were in cahoots!
I knew there was something strange them being central of information...huh!
(While I was gone researching how to avoid save data corruption, I still documented the days I played. I'll cover those near the end!)
So...I reserved a spot for Leif/Brewsters in the future.
To be honest, I like how we're doing an update-style game but I'm always in a constant state of anxiety regarding terraforming. Why withhold information regarding shop dimensions? I just want to reserve spots so I won't sabotage my island when I decided to make a move of it. While I can do this, all I can do is estimate the dimensions. Terraforming is such an awful chore (don't get me started on accidentally destroying stuff you didn't want to and have to deterraform a bit to fix it again!) I can't comprehend how people can stand it let alone pour so many hours finishing their island with little to no wiggle room for extra buildings. I really don't wanna touch terraforming at all until the game's complete. I'm saving up to buy Mush Lamp DIY and Hyacinth Lamp DIY for decorations so at least that's something to look forward to.
Setting that aside, Marshal and Merengue are quite good in playing instruments. I expected that from Marshal, anyways. He's pretty much a genius at everything (at least, Somnus!Marshal is anyways). Though, I like how Merengue can play the sax! CUTE!
ALSO A BIT LATER, I FOUND CHERI AND SNAKE ON A DATE. Ha. The game knows which couples I'm rooting for. I KNEW THEY WAS SOMETHING GOING ON...also Raymond says "photo bomb time!"

Later in the afternoon, Cherry went to jump into the bandwagon with Jacques calling me "maestro". Not that I mind. I just found it funny. You don't have to always join in to what Jacques is up to, Cherry!
I also caught an Queen Alexandra's birdwing! It's one of my favorite butterflies. I hate them most of the time but not this one! (I actually like moths than butterflies...)
Jacques also went to visit the butterfly garden!

Cherry also gave me a surveillance camera when I so happen to see her at the beach. Cherry...where did you get that? It better not from Jacques...

Finally, night time! There was a lot going on (and I was closing the game and rebooting it because I had to eat then had to do other things lmao) here's one of the highlights of the night!
