"Hello, frappe!" As you wander the market, a voice calls to you,
Sprinkle beckons you over, "Do you need something to do?"
"This snowman needs decorations! Anything is fine,
Its holiday wish is to be dressed to the nines!"
"Do you have anything to spare, perhaps a coat or a hat?
Maybe some accessories... What do you think about that?
A wig, some arms, maybe something entirely different!
If we all work together, I'm sure it'll look magnificent!"
How it works
In this event, you will be drawing a decoration for the snowman below!
This can be anything: a hat, an accessory, a wig, etc. If it can fit on the template, it's fine! Your decoration can have multiple pieces but should be easily described as a single item (e.g. "arms" is okay but "hat and scarf" are not).
Version 1: With the background
Version 2: Without the background/frame
Version 3: Monochrome version
You may use any template you wish.
Version 2: Without the background/frame
Version 3: Monochrome version
You may use any template you wish.
Snowman Dress-up Game
* You have no task associated with this section, but this outlines how the Snowman collectible will be decided and how the decorations will be used!
Accepted decorations will be added to the Snowman Dress-up Game periodically: while there is no task associated with this, you're free to play and dress up a snowman yourself! You may also use the "Upload" option in the game to see what your decoration looks like before submitting.
After the submission deadline is over, members of the staff will dress up a few snowmen using the decorations provided. A poll will open afterwards with the staff creations: from there, you will vote on your favourite snowman. The winning design will be used for the Snowman collectible*!
* The decorations on the final collectibles might be slightly different from the submissions: we will be resizing, redrawing, and cleaning up details as needed to ensure that the collectible is as consistent and readable as possible.
How to submit
- You should submit two images to this thread by 11:59pm EST @ Saturday, January 1st
- One with the template, decoration, and your TBT username written on it.
- Another that is a transparent PNG with only the decoration on it.
If you need assistance with this, please read "1. How do I get a transparent PNG with only my decoration?" in the FAQ!
- The transparent PNG should be exactly 448 x 448 pixels.
This is the size of the templates: you should not resize the template that you use at all. - Your drawing must be made by you (no pre-made renders, photographs, objects, etc.).
- You should preview your submission before posting (see "Previewing your submission" below).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. How do I get a transparent PNG with only my decoration?
If you don't have a version of your submission with only the decoration in it (due to drawing traditionally or not having a program that provides transparency), you may want to use Photopea to get a transparent version. The spoiler provides a guide for how to do this.
1. Open your image in Photopea. To do this, click "File" in the top left corner, and then "Open...", and select your image.
2. Select the Eraser or Magic Wand tool. The Magic Wand will try to pick sections for you, while the Eraser is a brush that will erase whatever you click on. Steps 2.1 and 2.2 describe each in more detail.
2.1. Using the eraser: When you use the eraser tool, you can click on a spot and that will erase it. You will likely want to erase around your decoration.
The checkerboard pattern is the transparent area.
2.2. Using the magic wand: When you click on a spot using the magic wand, it'll pick all areas nearby with a similar colour. You can hold shift when clicking to add more areas. You may either want to select the areas around your decoration, or select only your decoration and invert the selection (to invert: click Select -> Inverse). Afterwards, simply delete it (by clicking the Delete key, backspace, CTRL+X, or Edit -> Clear).
3. Keep using the Eraser/Magic Wand until you only have your decoration. This does not have to be perfect! When we shrink the decorations down to decide on a collectible, any small problems will be practically invisible.
4. Export the image as a PNG. Go to File -> Export as -> PNG. Afterwards you should be able to save the image.
And that's it! After you have this version of your image, you can upload your submission. You can preview this by following the instructions in "Previewing your submission".

2. I can't get a transparent PNG with only my decoration.
If you're unable to use follow the submission requirements (e.g. due to technical limitations, resizing problems from drawing traditionally, etc.) then please post your submission in this thread (with the template) and include
[SUBMISSION HELP NEEDED]
in your post: this way we can easily identify people that need help. If you do not include that phrase, then we will not help nor accept your submission. We will try to do the get the transparent PNG for you, but this may delay your submission's acceptance and the results may not be exactly what you wanted.
3. Does my submission have to be digitally drawn?
No. You may draw on paper, but you'll still need to follow the submission requirements and submit a transparent PNG (see (1) for how to do this.)
4. Can my submission contain multiple separate decorations (e.g. a hat and a scarf)?
No. Please try to keep to a single decoration! The decoration can have multiple pieces to it (e.g. "two arms" would count as a single decoration). We're trying to build a snowman together!
5. When will my submission be added to the dress-up game?
Submissions will be added periodically. We will make posts whenever we've caught up with the submissions: if you notice your submission isn't included, please let us know.
