Guest, can you feel the love in the air? Valentine's Week at The Bell Tree has begun with a new mini-event featuring four activities to enjoy -- new and returning collectibles are up for grabs! Dive in to the love here.
Honestly everyone just likes to place blame on something or someone. What else is new? Starbucks, in my opinion, was not intending to create the controversy that everyone says they are, and in all honesty I think it was the opposite. They really are trying to promote unitism during the holiday season, and I admit that last year they may have made a little mistake with the red cups seeing as not everyone celebrates Christmas. But they really are trying. It seems as if everyone is trying to connect everything to ISIS nowadays and I understand that, but can't you just leave it to the NSA and FBI? If the NSA felt there was any threat with the distribution of this, they would have put a stop to it immediately before it was even released to the public, especially into such a large chain as Starbucks. I honestly could care less about the color of the cup as long as I get my damn coffee to keep me awake in class. They could create a coffee cup that promoted ****ing recycling and the entire nation would be like "oMG sTaRbUCkS iS pROmoTiNG iSiS" like seriously.
Now since I know I'm probably gonna get 6,000 replies of hate I'm turning off my subscription to this thread lmao
It's not that deep. People will try to pick problems with everything and anything nowadays. With that logic anything that is green and white could be seen as controversial.
I liked the old red cup better. This new one is just green/white with an interesting but kind of ugly design - what's there even to be mad about? Green and white are usually considered Christmas colors. I'll be upset about it when the cup is actually covered in Qur'an verses, lol.
Honestly this is just as silly as last year's "red cups controversy." Hopefully this one is just as much of a joke, no one can really be taken seriously if they get worked up over something as silly as that. I personally like the designs, but I never go to Starbucks (not a fan of coffee, also it is ridiculously expensive!) I there something in missing here? Why does this offend people?
So if it's a cup that promotes Christianity we're all a-okay, but if it promotes Islam (which I don't see the justification behind this claim) then that's just crossing the line?
As if this stupid cup "controversy" couldn't have gotten any more ridiculous. Just keep on showing us the hypocrisy of our culture, Starbucks. I'm loving it.
Starbucks: *makes a non-denominational holiday cup design by just making the cups red*
The World: "How dare they try to take Christ out of Christmas, where's the snowflakes, and angels, and JESUS??!?! WE NEED RELIGIOUS CUPS FOR US!"
Starbucks: *makes a non-denominational holiday cup design by making a neat togetherness drawing on a green and white cup*
The World: "Islam cups? Promoting a religion? Not in my America!"
