Stuck in a Reset Loop

This is why I am trying to find a name that can take on any theme. That way, the island can change without me resetting.

Then again, maybe we are just the type of people who do better with a fresh start, you know?

I don’t always love my island but I know I would go crazy if I ever reset it. Villagers and house placement stuff can be changed in the future and all fruits can be collected no matter what you start with. It’s better sometimes just to stick with and island unless you absolutely hate it because you can make it almost anything you want to

right, lol. the good thing is we can have people hold all our items we worked for while we reset. that way i can still have the tons of furniture i worked on trading for here. i wish i did that last time i reset, but i had no idea this forum existed

I'm so early in the game that it honestly doesn't matter. I think that's why I'm resetting as much as I am right now. Get it right for myself, then never look back (I hope).

maybe just try using your town name or something generic and get a feel for the game, focus more on making friends with the villagers, filling up the museum until you settle on something and then decide if you want to reset

That's probably best. I think my main issue right now is that I'm not attached to anything, but folks on Youtube are immediately attached to something (mostly because they've played AC before). I guess I just want that feeling for myself.

The only villager that I really like was from the first island I settled on after a bunch of soft resets to try and get peaches with a green airport. I ended up with blue as it was getting late, but one of my first villagers was Agnes.

I didn't realize the villagers of the same personality say the same thing at the time, so the way she spoke to me made me really smile.

In all my resets since, I've only seen her one other time. Everyone else, I just can't get attached to. I am hoping to find Agnes in the future. Just as soon as I get my island going and have enough miles to go to a lot of islands.

Maybe take a look at the animal crossing fandom page at the different villagers and see who you might vibe with? Agnes is very cute btw!

I have considered that, but I don't want spoilers, you know? I want to see a villager and go 'wow, they're cute!'

It has crossed my mind, though. I also came across a page that shows what their houses look like, so I try to avoid that as well. I can't fully watch youtube videos, either. I watch to see their island they picked, their starting villagers, reaction and so on. Other than that, I try not to look while listening of I'll ruin the discovery side of the game for myself.

Like I said, I'll figure it out. I just need to get out of my own way. I get like this a lot, so... it's an annoying part of my brain.

As an aside, are there any Raven (bird) type items in the game? Something I can decorate with?

I actually had a name picked out long before I started my island (or the game even came out)- Woodland. I like it because it's simple and cute and has a few different meanings (wood is an important resource, I have a forest on my island, it makes me think of "woodland critters").

But, the most important part for me was to make it a neutral name. If I decided to suddenly give my island a theme, Woodland would work with most anything. Cottagecore? Fairy tale? Traditional Japanese? Sure, why not. I still don't have any plans to do a theme, but it was important to me that the name would work if I ever did.

Still, I kind of hope Nintendo gives us the chance to change island names at some point. I don't know if I'd use it, but I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it- the number of "Corona" islands created right as the game was released was ridiculous 😅

*winces* Yeah, I've seen quite a few island names folks likely regret.

So, I've been sitting here thinking and with my SO's help, I may have settled on a personal name.

Pepper Bay

Pepper because she's our favorite pup and Bay because it fits.

Pepperville is too long and Pepperburg doesn't sound as nice to me.

My other option was Ravenwood as it can go to rustic, cottage or academic/shiny items since Ravens are super smart and love sparklies. But Pepper Bay is more playful, so I can go kidcore, playful, and super bright as well.

Thank you all again for the help and advice. I really appreciate it.

To anyone else struggling, step away from the island, take a breather, and think on it a bit. Don't be impulsive like I've been recently. I've given it several hours and will likely wait until tomorrow before I reset.

I'm only willing to do it so soon because I'd only lose 1 day or work. I'd hate to try and do this a month/several months from now.
