Stuff you remember from your childhood

I remember swallowing a watch battery when I was 8 and thinking I was gonna die, so I took my 6-year-old brother to my bedroom and we started writing my will together. And because he was 6, he had no idea what was going on.

A few days later when I realised I hadn’t died, the only logical conclusion my 8-year-old brain could think of was that I had to be a robot.

Regardless, I think I was pretty lucky to have not suffered any health-related consequences.

I remember taking all of my stuffed toys into the pool because I took them almost everywhere, and they used to smell like pool cleaner because I never washed them... oops!

My uncle when I was younger got me two hamsters for Christmas.
He had an interesting sense of humor...
Crunchy and Tasty were what he named them

When I was young I was really fascinated by mercury thermometers and I bit one too hard it broke in my mouth

Luckily I was fine but I thought I was gonna die and never told anyone LOL

This reminds me of the time where I ate the more than healthy probably lethal (I think that's the right word) amount of vitamins, they were in a plastic bag on the table because we were going somewhere for a while and I have four siblings. (I think we were going to my grandparents house??)

edit: I have three siblings not four. :giggle:

My memory is pretty wack, I can't remember alot of stuff

One time I was playing kickball in 4th or 5th grade (I was the literal only person who hated kickball in the class) and I was running away from someone. They either pushed me in my back or hit me with the ball cause I fell on both of my knees which completely opened the huge scab I got a days earlier from falling off of somethin, a bike or scooter or somethin. I got up and there instantly was blood on the one knee of my jeans.

a lot of mocking over a birthmark i have ob my face (which i now love)

BESIDES THAT i remember my sister and i both got nintendos when i was like 5 and she was 13. i ended up inserting the game card the opposite way and jammed it forever, it stopped working :( and one day while my sister was gone i climbed up on the stepstool to grab her ds lite from her closet shelf, and ended up doing the same thing to it. it was the blue and black one. she was pissed lol.

- Watching cartoons on a tube TV because my parents didn’t want to pay for a flatscreen. They were still quite expensive back then so I understand their choice.

- Eating a chewy dog treat when I was four. It tasted like chocolate chips!

- Visiting my Grandparents’ farm and playing with their border collies.

- Meeting my first cat before she opened her eyes.

- Rereading the first four Diary of a Wimpy Kid books over and over.

- Getting really excited about Scholastic catalogs
- Collecting pebbles from the school playground and storing them in my pockets. One time in third grade, I forgot to take them out before putting my clothes in the laundry hamper... rip washing machine (my mom wasn't happy about that)
- Playing circle ball and four square with my friends
- Building snow forts in the winter
- Reading a lot of fantasy novels (Magic Tree House, Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

The frog in the school's light fixture. In one of the light fixtures in the cafeteria there was what appeared to be a frog silhouette inside the light. I watched it everyday when I ate lunch. I will never know if it was a real frog in there and it haunts me every night.

I remember this one time my dad's friends and their children were over. I decided it would be fun if we all pretended like the green ikea snake was a train and go up and down the stairs on it 😅

That reminds me of the time in biology class we took the frogs for dissection and stuck them to the windows. We added speech balloons that said things like "Help!" "They've got a knife!" "Get me out of here!"

Unfortunately, it happened to be the day the principal was giving the new superintendent a tour of the school.

I remember a lot of things but one amusing memory is that at Christmas my Grandma always had this tiny plastic tree with gummy candies on it as decoration, and one year my younger cousin and I decided to eat one (1) candy each. We were probably 5 and 3 years old. My Grandma was just like "lol the candies were over a year old but ok", but both of our parents were absolutely SCANDALIZED and we got in so much trouble lmao

Eating cat food. It was actually kinda delish but I don't think it was that good still x)

Also the Sweet Valley Twins books (the 6th grade series) I looooved those and it's a bit hard to get hold of these days sadly.

I remember once finding a dead ladybug in our house, and rather than just tossing it outside I gave it a full funeral. Got a tiny garden set, dug it a grave, put a little popsicle stick marker, and played a (terrible) song on my plastic harmonica.

I was probably about 6-7... 🐞

The time i had a very vivid nightmare that it still clear to me 16 years ago (i was like 6). In said nightmare, there was a man cutting a single finger off peoples hands. i remember being in the middle of doing a play on stage when he suddenly broke up through the floor boards of the stage and chased after me. the most chilling part was when i woke up, i looked at the light on the ceiling (had a bunk bed at the time) and on the bottom of the rounded ball on the light was a finger wrapped around it. it was just my imagination but it looked so real and kinda freaked me out.
that was probably the last real nightmare i had

-in kindergarten I had an untied shoelace in the play yard and I wanted to sit on the bench to fix it. I tripped like 3 times trying to get to the bench and scraped my knees.

-when I was 5 I got a nose bleed right when we were about to leave to go somewhere and my dad got mad at me for it. In 7th grade the same thing happened again but my nose bled for 2 hours

-refusing to get in my grandpa’s car because I wanted to walk home from school like a lot of kids did in elementary

-dropping a soda can on my toe two times and it bled
