Suggest some Anime?

Yeah, I getcha. I'm very particular with slice of life because my attention span is... finicky lol. Kinda just tried to recommend some from different genres that I liked. To be honest, I would probably rate Gin no Saji above Servant x Service, just because it's a more unusual setting, I guess.

And YES, I loved loved loved Sakamoto desu ga? Such a shame there will only ever be one season.

I actually have been thinking of starting Toilet-Bound Hanako Kun... Might do now that you gave it such a good review lol.

Oh please please PLEASE do, I can't speak for it enough, its been so wonderful, those backgrounds, that art style, the storyline,, aa- all so great.

I agree on Sakamoto definitely deserving more than what it got, it was so fun, had us in tears from laughing so hard.

I'll probably give all the ones recommended the old college try, just trying to prioritize some that intrigued me first and foremost, I'll take your word for it and try out Gin no Saji before Servant x Service ^ ^

Looks like I'm throwing my hat into the ring! Let's see here...

  • Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary): really messed up, but it's a heck of a thriller. Also, the first opening is just bangin'.
  • Death Parade: (I already know someone's suggested it, and I second the notion) it lures you in and plays with your head, but each episode just keeps getting better and better (and I bawled like a baby at the ending).
  • School-live!: if you want a show that starts off cute but doesn't stay that way, this'll do the trick. It's kinda sad and yet entertaining at the same time.
  • Madoka Magica: is it a magical girl anime? Yes. Does it stay cutesy and cheesy all the way through? Absolutely NOT. Things go from 0 to 10 REAL quick. It's personally one of my favorites.
  • Magical Girl Raising Project: take Madoka Magica and give it the DC treatment. The fights are pretty good (even if the girls' facial structures make me think of aliens).
  • Etotama: a cute and comedic Chinese zodiac representation, something good to watch if you want a good laugh.
  • Juni Taisen: EVERYONE DIES, in glorious combat! It's really messed up, but it gets your heart pumping!
  • Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: another zombie anime, and one that I actually liked quite a lot (and I don't really like zombies all that much). These ones are different, and actually pose a proper threat, given the time period.
  • Konosuba: great for laughs
  • Overlord: the MC is overpowered and also a sheer bad@. As are his henchmen and servants.
  • Claymore: action-packed, and the music is awesome.
  • Akame-ga-KILL!: compelling story, impressive villains, and a lot of fight scenes. I was pretty happy with this one.
  • Plastic Memories: a real jewel that pulls at your heartstrings. It will hit you in the feels. HARD.
  • A Certain Magical Index: interesting, with fights between science and magic. The MC may be "unlucky", but he takes no crap from anyone in it. It also paves the way for its two spinoffs, Railgun and Accelerator.
  • Girls Und Panzer: tank club fights. That's all I gave to say.

I know I could suggest more, but it's currently 5:35am, and I need to get some sleep before I end up staying up all night because I'm rummaging through my Watched List. ': D

Log Horizon is a personal favorite of mine, plus it’s getting a third season soon (or already has?). Oregairu as well, but it’s been a while so I’m not sure if it’s aged well.

Some recent shows I really liked.
Rising of the shield hero.
Demon slayer.

I'd also recommend
Mob psycho 100
One Punch man
Hitman REBORN!
Kill la kill
No Game No Life
Hunter X Hunter

And if you want the ultimate thriller
WataMote
(It's not actually a thriller, but you'll physically shiver with cringe, not because it's bad, but because they made the main character the most cringe inducing person in existence, and keep throwing her into awful situations)

Second that, Log Horizon is amazing.

Don’t think I saw anyone recommend Violet Evergarden. Watched that recently and really liked it. It’s sorta story heavy, not action based though, and pretty emotional. Got me crying at times. It has it’s share of feel good moments too. Recommended to anyone that wants to have some feels.

if you're into those 'problem solving intense' animes that make you feel super smart (or dumb) then i recommend kakegurui (12 episodes) and no game no life (12 episodes)!
every episode is super gripping and gets you on edge! they're both short too! (kakegurui has 2 seasons though! so 24 episodes altogether)

i recently just watched demon slayer and i also really recommend that! it's also quite short with one season so far (26 episodes) and we're for sure going to get a season 2 so you can catch up! :3

i'm super biased to naruto but if you really want to binge a long anime during quarantine go for naruto(220 episodes) and naruto shippuden (500 episodes)
BUT if you skip the fillers it's not too long!
naruto is 41% filler episodes and naruto shippuden is also 41% filler

super cute animes i love which are super enjoyable to watch are miss kobayashi dragon maid (14 episodes) and himouto! umaru-chan (12 episodes) <3

sad animes if you wanna cry your eyes ouuttt includes your lie in april (22 episodes), anohana (11 episodes) and a silent voice (film) ^O^

i'm currently thinking about starting hunterxhunter and i'm watching food wars rn! (so far i'm loving it!!)

A Silent Voice. It's a movie but has great storytelling imo.
Anohana (friendship, drama, sad)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (horror, gore, mystery)
My Roommate is a cat (friendship, family, heartwarming)
Nichijou (comedy, parody, slapstick)
Noragami (action, drama, friendship)

I've watched Death Parade and I completely agree with you on it! Also watched Madoka Magica and I'm still scarred. Quite a few of these have intrigued me so I'll be adding them to the list. Might pass on Girls Und Panzer, Juni Taisen, and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress for now, just not quite my cup of tea. I tried Akame-ga-KILL! but some friends of mine kind of exhausted my interest in it unfortunately, Claymore also wasn't really one I could keep focus on, though, I miiight try that one again.

erased
zankyou no terror
noragami
durarara

I have a coworker that loved Durarara and for that reason it was on my pre-existing list :D

The other two I haven't heard of before, but I'll be adding them, both look like animes I'd be into giving a shot. Erased I tried, but, wasn't too into.

I always recommend Clannad, it’s a slice of life that will give you all the feels!

I've watched every anime by the key company other than Little Busters which I started recently, and I am super happy for this one to've been recommended because it was so very lovely... if you haven't seen Canon, I recommend it back to you, same company, same heart, its great.

Log Horizon looks like fantasy and as a dnd player I'm down, Oregairu seems the kind of anime that's ageless so I'll add it on too, see how it bodes for myself ovo

Second that, Log Horizon is amazing.

Third times' the charm with Hunter x Hunter being rec'd, I really gotta give it another chance, I feel so bad now lol
One Punch Man was so good, its getting another season I think? Maybe? The rest I did give a try once upon a time, but, for one reason or another I couldn't seem to stick with them. Mob Psycho 100 is on my previous list and I'll be going back to it, already promised myself I would, I believe I wasn't in a good head space for attention back when I tried it the first time heheh.

Watamote I haven't heard of, but I'm always down for cringe, so on the list it goes xD

I HAVENT WATCHED THE SPECIAL YET BUT I NEED TO... also given what happened to the company that created this anime, I second the recommendation.

They do beautiful works and are known to treat their creators with the utmost care... they were seriously wronged in such a severe selfish way when their studio was set on fire, so if you haven't watched works like Free! and Violet Evergarden, Kanon, Air, Clannad and it's Afterstory, and Lucky Star, and even the movie A Silent Voice... please do.

They deserve all the attention, even if the fire was a little while back now.

Second time No Game No Life was recommended so I definitely have to give it another go, so many of the ones you recommended were ones I have on my list already or have already been watching (Demon Slayer is y e s, A Silent Voice was my favorite anime movie and its beautiful).

Naruto and Food Wars are probably the only two I'd be opposed to personally... I totally get why people LOVE Naruto and I don't think they're in the wrong to at all, my entire friend group loves Naruto, but I personally just really, never got on the train. As for Food Wars it was just... too much for me, though I watch clips from time to time x'D

A Silent Voice is my favorite anime movie, and, I haven't heard of too many of the others you've suggested, except for Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, remember it from when I was young, and My Roommate is a Cat, as someone with a cat, the minute that anime dropped I was THERE... if you want a good Manga that's similar then I recommend A Man and His Cat, its lovely.

I have also heard of Nichijou but haven't watched it, so I'll add it to the list with the others you've listed ovo

So I’m pretty sure all of these have been recommended but hey, gotta add in my two cents on em!

Steins;Gate takes a few episodes to get into, but it is SO worth it.
Cowboy Bebop is an oldie but a goodie. And there’s a corgi. What’s not to love?
Sword Art Online. Look, I know a lot of people hate it, but I legitimately enjoyed it. It’s just fun to watch!
Dragon Ball, if you haven’t watched it yet. Not only is it a fun watch, but there’s a lot of it!
Mirai Nikki, I so gotta second this one. Insane but good!
Soul Eater, one of my firsts and still a favorite!

And here’s a rapid fire of my crunchyroll watchlist in case you see something you might like:
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, Fruits Basket, Steins;Gate 0, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ahiru no Sora, Mob Psycho 100, Ace of the Diamond, Attack on Titan, Food Wars, Yuri on Ice, Interviews With Monster Girls, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, Fire Force

My all time favourite: Katanagatari. They do a lot of talking, though, so you might not like it if you're more into action and things actually happening.

Acchi Kocchi - Slice of life, romance.
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - Comedy with a little romance.
Gin no Saji - Slice of life.
Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens - Action.
Sakamoto desu ga? - Comedy.
Servant x Service - Slice of life, romcom.

I would also recommend Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens. It's got this jazzy aesthetic and it's about a group of hitmen. There's also a lot of baseball metaphors. Like, a lot a lot.

Run With The Wind - my favorite sports anime and second favorite anime of all time (right behind Banana Fish)
Paranoia Agent - great psychological anime
Detective Conan - my go-to for when I want to watch anime but don't know what to watch. I've also been watching it while tarantula hunting.

I'll have to go look through my list to see if I can find you something you might like, but lemme just drop my fave anime here: Shiki. It definitely starts off slow, but otherwise I think the storytelling is superb, the OST is beautiful, and while the art style is probably not for everyone, it's at least quirky and unique. A really emotional story and some great lessons in there, too. I can't recommend it enough.

a few of my all time favorites:
  • jojo’s bizarre adventure
  • nichijou (really cute and funny)
  • beyond the boundary (kyoukai no kanata)
  • puella magi madoka magica (a whole artistic journey imo)
hehe hope you enjoy!

LOL im pretty sure everybody and their mom has watched it by now but if anybody who's reading this hasn't little witch academia is such a great lil show! It's only about 25 episodes it's on netflix it isn't too hard to take in but still has such a great story characters and animations!

code geass
mostly because of its brilliant ending plus my edginess
