i haven't watched a lot of anime (and don't particularly want to) so i can only recommend three, but:
fairy tail: i know this anime/manga tends to have a bad rep. because the writing can be hit or miss, and i personally don't care for the over-sexualization of the female characters, but it has a lot of heart, the soundtrack is bomb, a lot of the arcs are really great, and i especially loved it as a teenager. i don't think i ever actually finished the anime, but that's mainly because i read the manga. it's a fun fantasy/magic anime, and i think more people should give it a chance,
eden's zero: actually a new one, created by the same guy as FT. i've been reading the manga since release and the first two anime episodes were really good. it is currently in netflix jail, so you'll have to wait until the fall if you want to watch it legally, but the episodes can be found online and release every saturday-ish. i'm really excited for the next one! it's also fantasy/magic, like FT, but set in space! the worldbuilding is great and the writing is definitely a step-up from FT so even if you didn't/don't care for that, you still might enjoy EZ.
tokyo mew mew: the 4KIDS dub (mew mew power) was my first ever anime, and it'll always have a special place in my heart. i haven't watched it in years (sub or dub) but i might give it a rewatch soon. it's a cute magical girl anime where the characters gain animal features and fight an alien trio and their monsters, but iirc it's actually pretty serious, and can get kind of dark despite its girly aesthetic. two of the main characters also have a bit of homosexual tension if you ask me, which is always a bonus even if it's not official.
