Switch System Update

Guess I no longer have to upload photos on my twitter and scramble to save and delete the post. 😂

If I then can upload the picture on discord that would make life so much easier. What a great and much needed update! :D

I'm really happy Nintendo added this update.

It was such a hassle transferring files because I don't link my Switch to any social media account. So I have to turn it off every time to manually transfer the files using the SD card.

Now, I use the USB method. So easy.

Oh my gosh finally! I’ve been indifferent about taking pictures in game due complexities in exporting them.. now I can go wild with my snapshots lol haha this is such an awesome update thanks for informing us!

Yeah, I just saw that. It's pretty neat. I'm still going to use Twitter for the time being but I'm likely going to start moving over to my phone, and deactiving my Twitter.

I really like this new feature, and I think how they made it work is pretty clever! I hope it helps people post actual screenshots. Will also have to try the USB cable to my pc, that sounds even more convenient.

I am less pleased with the bright red Nintendo Switch Online icon at the bottom of the hone screen... Was that always there? It stands out, like, a lot. Why couldn't it be the same style as the other icons? I already have NSO, why is it being shoved in our faces?

These are really useful features! It sure beats having to turn off the console, taking out the micro SD card, getting the card adapter, etc. to move screencaps onto my laptop. The USB cable I have at the moment is only intended for charging, so I'm considering getting one that permits data transfer.

I wasn't aware of this but it makes me happy. I never used twitter and purely made one to access the photos. So it's def nice having this option now.

Wooo! Now I don't have to have crappy pictures taken with my phone of the screen anymore! :D Thanks for this information!

Ooh this is nice! :) I've been uploading my photos onto a private Facebook album, so this is a nice option for those who don't want to use social media as the middle-man. Time to have a dedicated Instagram for my photos now.

I agree this feature is super dope, I however had some issues getting it to work for me... It just wouldn't load the last QR on my phone. :/ Anyone else?
In my case, every step went through relatively smoothly, except that when all seems to be done, and I check my phone to search for the pictures, they're nowhere to be found 😂 not sure what I did wrong, .. will try it again another time I guess.
I don't think I ever posted stuff on twitter before having the switch. I have an old account where I sometimes retweeted stuff, so used it to post my AC photos here.
I like how you can upload 10 now with the smartphone instead of just 4 with twitter

Once you scan the 2nd QR code it'll open your web browser. That's where you have to press and hold onto the image till the option pop-up appears, then you can save the image to your phone.

oooh I see! thanks for telling me!
i definitely missed that last step somehow.

Yeah I got that far the first time I tried but it just wouldn't load the web browser... So then I tried again and then it wouldn't scan the second code. It's new so I'll give it another shot another time and see if it works but I guess I'm just kind of discouraged that they come out with a new feature that's buggy still ya know lol technology

damn i likely wouldn’t of ever found this out otherwise; thank you for posting this!! i’ve just been sending all of my screenshots to twitter and while i don’t mind doing that, i’m definitely glad that this feature exists now!

its always sexy when an update actually adds something useful-

Oh, heck yeah! I had no idea about that... Didn't know anything about the update, actually. I just assumed it was for maintenance and performance and all that. But finally, I don't really have to worry about the microSD card...

I tried the upload to smartphone. It's more complicated than it needs to be.

Your Switch becomes it's own WiFi hotspot that it hosts the photos through. You can connect to it using WiFi, and then navigate to the set IP address, which seems to be set at 192.168.0.1. Since there will be no internet connection on this WiFi connection, my phone decides to use the mobile network. So mobile data needs to be shut off before that page will load.

From what I can tell, the QR codes are not needed. The first 1 will connect you to the hotspot, and the second one just loads the URL. Both of these can be done manually.

It's much easier for me to continue saving to Twitter, and then grabbing the photos from the Twitter app or website. If you don't want to delete the images from Twitter afterwards, you have nothing else to worry about. I've set up a Twitter account for the sole purpose of sharing Switch photos and videos, so it's not like I need to hide them.

Although it would require you be to connected to a network, what could have made this easier is having the Switch share the selected photos through the same network it's currently connected to, using the same IP address it was assigned on that network.

Nice to be able to avoid the 'go-between' now when transferring screenshots!

Tried the new QR code option to upload a photo using my iPhone camera. Fairly quick: tapped the notification that popped up and was brought to my photo to save it to my phone. I did have to go back into my Wi-Fi settings to reconnect to my default Wi-Fi network, but I can probably make an adjustment to have this happen automatically.
