I can only speak for myself but I have never felt anything remotely paranormal when using my tarot deck. Like some have mentioned here, it's more about introspection and reflection, not reaching out to spirits like with ouija boards. I used to be quite interested in the supernatural and tried all sorts of supposed means of communicating with spirits without any definitive results, but I never even considered the tarot cards as one of those methods.

I’ll wait for a few more answers, but this gives me hope. Ever since that Reddit post, I’ve been afraid of buying my first deck of themed tarot cards because I was afraid of attracting spirits. Thanks for your response!

This is all opinion:
I think when it comes to places or items attracting spirits, depends on intention of the person and their actions. I think that is why some people claim to feel or notice spirits reaching out in a place while others don't.

Ouija boards are very different than tarot cards. As someone else mentioned, ouija board's purpose is for communicating with spirits/beings while tarot generally isn't. Tarot cards can be used in multiple ways, and could be used for communicating with a being if that is what someone wants to do and I've heard of people doing so to get future event insight or say they do to scam people which I don't recommend doing either of those, but I don't think ouija boards are used in multiple ways. Ouija boards are for communicating with spirits/beings. Maybe that is why people feel spooky stuff around ouija and not always tarot?

Who buys an ouija board if they dont intend to talk to spirits? And if someone wants to talk to spirits, I don't think tarot cards would be first pick when there are other items that would be clearer to use such as something with words or alphabets. And if spirits are aware that ouija boards are a communication tool, they may hang around for whatever reasons. I bet most leave if you get rid of the board if you aren't interested in communicating.

However if you feel uncomfortable getting tarot cards, I wouldn't push it. There are other means of self reflection (I assume that's why you'd want them?) that wouldn't put you in unease over a physical object.

Tarot cards shouldn't attract spirits any more than regular playing cards. In my opinion if they do, something is wrong. Serious personal reflection and environment reflection should be done and cards removed though I wouldn't think it has anything to do with the cards. I've read articles that psychologists use tarot cards with their patients to help their patients self reflect just like meditation is often used with their patients too. If there was some spirit activity with the cards themselves, I'm sure they wouldn't be used as that would put added stress on already disturbed patients.

Curious to hear what others say about @Bluelady’s questions above…

I find this bump timing interesting as well, as part of a new astrology (which I’m VERY into, and am a firm believer in) app has a “Tarot card of the day” and the other day, mine was Strength.

I take tarot with a grain of salt, but I’ve always been interested in or intrigued by it. This card was the first card that I could honestly say, “Wow, that was pulled for me, for sure.”

Depending on the answers to the question above, maybe I’ll buy my own deck just for fun.

an update on this: went online last night to look at some decks, found a gorgeous one, but it’s $68.00 so…probably won’t be getting that soon, since it’s something I’m only passively interested in.

I have two tarot decks and one oracle deck. An animal tarot deck, a cat tarot deck, and a moonology oracle deck.
I should use them more but they're a nice way to seek comfort and generally I find their messages to actually fit irl. I haven't experienced any sort of paranormal activity when I use them or after I have, though sometimes I wish I'd experience something spirit related lol.

I have a bunch of decks; Persona 5 is what sparked my interest in collecting some tarot decks.

The Dragon Age decks are playing cards but were based on tarot cards; the collector’s edition of Inquisition came with a tarot deck (same art as the playing cards).

The bottom two decks were made by artists, the last one was a One Piece Zine deck (so it contained artwork of multiple artists). Wings of Rebellion was made by Burning Artist.

The two persona 5 decks on the top are the same; one came with my collector’s edition of the switch copy of Persona 5 Royale; it only contained half of the actual deck. The other one is has all 75 cards.

Here are my favorite cards from each deck (I don’t have a favorite really from the P5 official deck; I picked the Magician though since Morgana is my favorite and his card was the Magician . The One Piece deck was hard to pick a favorite too because a couple of my favorite One Piece Artists did a piece and I loved so many of the cards if not all):

Lion is my favorite Steven Universe character (so far at least; I still have to finish watching the series). The One Piece card was designed by YORU_CHII; I love her artwork and the bright colors she uses and her style .

The Dragon Age cards:

My favorite used to be Cullen’s card but some stuff happened. Solas is my second favorite of Inquisition’s characters .

I also had commissioned the extremely talented @jadetine to make me tarot art too .

The character is Maruki from Persona 5 Royale. I wanted some artwork of him because his voice actor, Billy Kametz passed away and I wanted something that reminds me of him or one of his characters. still hard to believe he’s gone .
