Does anyone on this forum have tattoos? If so, I'd love to see them! I've got about six myself. I'm currently working on a full sleeve.

onna.jpg
She's an onna-bugeisha... A lady samurai!

botan.jpg
It's the ghostly woman from the Peony Lantern Japanese ghost story.

chochin.jpg
It's one of my favorite yokai, the chochin-obake... A sentient lantern

I'm doing a whole Japanese woodblock thing on this arm. I'm gonna add a whole bunch of my favorite yokai and floral symbols as well in order to take up space. It's just going very slowly because they're expensive. I get one for my birthday every year and that's all I get, lol.

Not showing my other 3 tattoos because I don't have pictures of them. One is just your standard nautical sparrow on my hip. Another is a giant illustration from Alice in Wonderland (the book!) on my back (the one where she's holding the drink me bottle). The last is my maiden name in Arabic script on my ribs.

Please show off your body art!

I have two tattoos. Most recent one from last year is of one of my dogs! She turns 12 later this year.

I plan on getting another small tattoo from one of my favourite illustrated novels, Blankets by Craig Thompson.

i don't have any tattoos (yet!), but i really want one of a cat paw holding a sunflower. cats are my favorite animals, and sunflowers are my favorite flowers, so i was like um yes? i'm not sure about any more other than that

Oh my gosh your tattoos are amazing and beautiful. I've always wanted tattoos but I'm too afraid to commit. What if I end up hating them one day?? If I ever got some, they'd most likely be small and simple (so I can hide them) and they'd represent Zelda, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Les Miserables, and Animal Crossing. Just some of the things I love that make me happy.

I just got a tattoo 5 days ago!!!

It?s my first ever tattoo
It means spring day and it?s a BTS song.
It?s just entering that annoying itching stage/peeling

I have a matching tattoo with my stepmom for mental health awareness.

It's a semi-colon, but instead of the period, it's a heart!

I really really love this tattoo, and I cannot wait to get my next one next week! :> Or sometime around there haha xD

Here's a picture of the semi-colon tat I have :>

I've nine tattoos. #10 and #11 will be booked when I meet up with a friend for lunch next week - I have a voucher leftover from a Christmas gift a couple years back to put towards them.

#8 is favourite but I can't show it on here due to nudity. It's a pin-up sitting on a rose done in American Traditional style. The colour scheme matches the tattoo below.

I'd love to get a tiny rainbow somewhere but I'm too afraid of the pain :p

The pain isn't really so bad for the most part. Certain areas hurt worse than others (out of all my tattoos, the lady on my forearm was the only one I had to stop on because it's one of my most sensitive spots on the body, especially towards the elbow. But then the one on the topside of my arm didn't hurt at all, even though it's in the same area (just on the other side of my arm). And I straight fell asleep while they were working on the giant one on my back, lol. That one only hurt when they went near my spine, but it was only a small part.

If you're really in love with the idea of getting your tattoo, I'd say, do it. Don't let the pain hold you back. Even if it does end up hurting a lot, it is only a few minutes of pain compared to a lifetime of joy when you get to look at the tattoo that makes you happy! :D

Honestly, I don't regret any of my tattoos. Even my first one which is generic and doesn't mean much of anything. The only one I have any negative feelings are is the one on my back. And even then, I don't regret getting it, I just regret not waiting for a better artist. I need someone to fix it, but I still love it and am proud of it. My whole thing is: all of my tattoos represent what was important in my life, or my state of mind at the time I got them. So I don't regret them, because it is part of my past and part of who I am as a person today. I like looking at them and remembering where I was in my life at that point and reflecting on how far I've come since then. :)

This is a very cute idea!!!!! <3

I'm not solid on these two ideas, but I still think they'd be really nice to have.

1, on my right upper inner arm, a simple outline of a moon phase change.

2, on my left lower inner arm, above my wrist (cause my wrist are very skinny, boney and the veins are RIGHT THERE you can literally see them) a simple outline of a compass.

I like that they're both simple yet pretty, and even have a nautical matching theme to go with them. I can hide the moon phase change at work with my sleeve for the most part, the compass not so much. But, as nice as I think it is to get these tattoos, stuff is holding me back. For one, I'd have to research tattoo artist in my area and blah blah blah all that jazz. The big issue is people. I don't want people asking me 'why did you get that?' And my only answer is 'because it's pretty and I wanted too'. They don't hold any meaning. Plus, even thou both my parents have tattoos, they kinda don't like my sister and I even talking about getting tattoos ourselves, despite the fact they each have about 3-4 tattoos and only 1 each mean somethin personal. Down the road I'll get personal tattoos for my pets, on my back, but for now I've been stuck on the idea for these 2 for a few months now.

Everyone has such beautiful tattoos! I used to want one, but I spent years waffling back and forth on what to get and now I'll probably never get one because:

1. I feel like I'm too old to be getting my first tattoo (I'm turning 40 this year).
2. My husband doesn't like them and I don't feel strongly enough about it to do something to my body that he won't like. If I cared that much, of course I would get one, regardless. But it's never been a high priority for me, so why do something that he'll consider a turn off?

When I was in my teens/early 20's and trying to decide what kind of tattoo I wanted my top contenders were an armband with my name/nickname in Egyptian hieroglyphics or a red and black snake wrapped around my upper arm or a shark on my ankle (similar to the popular dolphin tattoo, but I love sharks more). All of them would have been easy to cover up if necessary for a job and represented something that I was deeply interested in or loved.

I currently have one on my forearm :)

I'm not sure if I'd get anymore though. Probably definitely in places that are more hidden, but I can still see easily. I've had a few ideas, but nothing I can stick too.

Yeah, it is kind of a pain having to explain that only one of my tattoos has meaning, the other five I just think are neat. But it's a minor inconvenience compared to looking at my arm and seeing my ghosts and monsters and being happy!

I have one tattoo now that I've never really been in love with. It was supposed to be a black widow spider but it's just a black spider with a red head. I got it in my 20s and couldn't really see how it looked while it was getting done because the tattoo artist's hand blocked my view. When he was done he taped it up before he let me see it. I went back afterward to ask about getting it fixed and was told "all adjustments need to be made at the time the work is done". I didn't want to pay more to get it fixed or get it removed so it's just been there. I would love to get more tattoos though. I have 2 I would get right now if I had the cash & the 3rd one I'm still working on. Here's the two I'd get today if I could:

dd7qoqo-bdc2d5ea-bced-483f-8701-a3df67bbc387.png

The top one I want on my upper left arm near my heart. The real version has my son's & husband's names but I made this one as a template first. The bottom one I want on my left wrist. This saying is sort of my life motto.

I wish I could find an apprentice tattoo artist who might be willing to do these as practice for a slightly reduced price. It's not that I don't think tattoos are worth the money. I absolutely do! Especially really intricate and colorful tattoos. It's just that I don't have much money. lol! The third tattoo I'd love to get would have at least one shark in it - maybe two. I'm still dreaming it up.

Oh no, that sounds shady as hell! My tattoo artists have always shown me the designs beforehand so I could decide if I liked them or not. And the one time one got messed up and didn't heal properly, they corrected it for free. :(

The start of my sleeve (not done!) Will be like the below one when done, it says "I think I'll go wander off" with my grandpa's signature which is what he used to say instead of goodbye

Okay this one needs the story. I looked up "piccolo tattoo" after watching the broly movie and a cross with "he walks with me" next to it came up for that and I was like.... Yup! Good enough, just replace the cross with father piccolo's face lol!!!

The Puyallup tribe salmon on the back of my left shoulder :) going to get the next one below on my right shoulder to match soon

A eagle! Same color scheme

Edit: wholly almighty mother of whales imgur is WEEEIRDDD why are all these randos commenting on these lol do they have to be public to share on here????

I have 5 right now and I'm getting number 6 in 2 weeks ^^.

A Lion
Got this one 6 years ago when I was 16.. Also my first tattoo! Took 3-4 6 hour-ish sessions (less experienced artist) to get done and was kinda painful at the spine but it was ok.
2aan38m.jpg

My dog
My second one on my lower left arm. It's a portrait of my dog. I have this one for 2 years now. Took about 3 hours to get done and was not painful at all.
644284.jpg

A sloth
Third one! A sloth with the text: live slow, die whenever on my upper left arm. Have it 1,5 years. Took 1 session .. about 6-7 hours. Not that painful, only the last couple hours because my skin got tired.
313kuwz.jpg

And then I have a butterfly with the text 'You ain't seen nothing yet' on my inner upper right arm. I don't have a picture right now but it's a memorial for my das who died a year ago. Definitely the most painful tattoo's I've had getting done. They text took maybe 15 minutes and the butterfly maybe 1 hour-ish (artist was less experienced).. But it really hurt in that spot. Not sure if I will get my inner arm on the other side done.

My next one is going to be my other dog, a Belgium Sheppard, but in the style of the Sloth (neo-traditional) on my upper right arm. About the size of the sloth.
