In my opinion, the detective should check a player that they consider strong and active, and that they think that they would be able to work together with - Then, if they come up as blue or green, they can team up from that point forward. I really doubt there will be anything truly suspicious taking place before the morning comes, but I suppose we could put together a list of the names of people who have not yet posted soon enough.

That's a really good idea Sataric. My only question is how is the Veteran any different from the Chickie role that swiftly ended the Birds game? With only 2 mafia members and PMs being allowed.... But that takes all the fun out of it so I don't think we should do that.

Detective should just check whoever. If you have suspicions on someone, make a case on them, don't rely on a Detective check to give you that final piece of hard evidence.

Chances are the detective will inspect a town aligned person so detective will be able to make an ally early in the game. Right now I think the detective can inspect anyone they feel because, like you said, there really isn't much of a case on anyone just yet.

The likelyhood of this is true, but there is a slight chance they're going to check mafia, I hope so.

Everyone's pretty much on the same playing field until someone gets killed. Im guessing the mafia wouldn't kill someone who's too obvious, that way it would be easy to spot them. The only real evidence we can check right now is post count, but considering there is really not much to say, i doubt that post count means much at this point. I've seen some lurkers, but they could just be investigating, you never know.

The odds are far more likely that the detective will end up checking a Town aligned person, which is why I'm saying that they should go for whomever they feel like they could work well with, and who is active. It certainly makes a whole lot more sense than just selecting someone at random..

Then the detective should just be careful. If a detective gives a townie role to scum, and the townie role dies, then the scum should be obvious. The detective could be less specific if they're not sure.

Well, only one player is going to return scum anyway, so as soon as they are uncovered, just out them.
The way I see it is that the Godfather was given a role that is not in the OP to claim as or a role that was not given out but is in the OP to use. Yes, the Detective shouldn't just out themselves to a player that returns innocent, but at least start talking to them.
