Yes and checking in posts are useless. I don't know why people do that. Newbie mafia is for newbies and many of them will be inactive so it's hard to lynch on day one

At the very beginning of the game there isn't much else people can post other than that they're here, but if that's all they post to save themselves from being voted due to inactivity, then yeah it's useless. Maybe activity will pick up once people see there's discussion, so far there hasn't been much.

I really appreciate your enthusiasm. But, I'd like to hear what our basis for lynching should be at this point. I would rather wait till we get more discussion going then to just start accusing people.

I doubt scum would actually tell their role. We could honestly get 20 people saying they are town, then what?

I think the only thing we can do is get everyone to at least post. I'd hate to lynch someone then they flip townie, because that's not really good for the town. There are a few who haven't posted anything yet and we have time to wait for them and post.
Unless someone else has a better idea...?

Please don't claim. And townies arent powerless. You have your voice and your vote. To be honest, I feel bad for the blues they have to fear for their lives. So the townies should be leading this search.

Ok, what do you suggest we do then? So far all you've been doing is saying "Everyone please contribute!!!!" But you haven't really stated your opinions on what we should do for Day 1.

This isn't a closed set-up (I think that's what they're called.....it's where each player has a different role), so mafia can easily claim townie in this game - and that wouldn't get us anywhere.

We can go about voting 2 ways, look at game tactics from previous players that HAVE played mafia and evaluate from there OR lynch an inactive (which tends to be always townie, but an inactive townie is a useless townie). As of now, I'll be looking up previous games of some players and decide from there : )

The only problems I have with that is (1) what if the person has rl issues and could be valuable down the road? (2) that's one less person that the scum doesn't have to worry about. Worst comes to worst they get modkilled. This option should be a last ditch choice. But, looking into previous players is a good idea. Thankfully oath made a wiki with all the previous mafia games.

Because it helps mafia narrow down who has blue roles. It's probably best not to roleclaim unless you have to, like if you were town about to be lynched.

I posted before getting to read those posts whoops.

I never said that they normal townies were powerless. I just said that the role wasn't complicated to understand.

&& if mafia really believed that I was townie, why would they vote me off or kill me? Wouldn't they want to eliminate people with more important roles such as healers or detectives?
It's not like other people who aren't in the mafia knew what role I am for sure. I might very well be mafia to them, claiming to be a townie.
