The ACNH Rant Thread

All I want in the world is the return of the aurora Borealis furniture item from ACNL. Please. Id do anything.
I do not blame you. I am in a similar position. I miss the theme/series/furniture sets from this game's predecessors ;-;

I’m getting tired of animals mailing me every day, especially when they’re mailing me items that I don’t want.
I am fine with the mail, but it literally drives me out of my mind when the villagers barge in on me unannounced. Luckily, I just restarted though, so this should take some time to happen.

Yeah, I get annoyed by this too. Not just when redesigning, but also when I am inside, planning on other things. Even if we tell the animal “no”, he/she still does it when you go back inside your house. But one thing I do like about their visits is that they talk about your furniture when you touch your favorite piece of furniture.

I love how carp is always spawning until I actually need it. Biskit wanted cutting board with carp and of course since it requires carp they are nowhere to be found. Catfish which is usually hard to find is abundant though. Freaking annoying.

Tried q bit longer and it still only spawned catfish so my island is either glitched or my ponds are catfish ponds because no other fish has spawned. Even with bait. Using amiibo cards cards to get villagers to move is is 10 times more frustrating than villager hunting because of this ridiculous crafting BS with the stupidest recipes.

Carp is ALWAYS spawning and then the one time I need one suddenly they are just non existent

Whatever I give up. Playing something else. Animal Crossing legit just p'ed me off.

I tried one more time and said if this game does not spawn a carp and if I catch one more frigging catfish, then I am logging off and swear I will not come back until Thanksgiving, it spawned a carp. Took a bit of threatening to make it happen.

Here's another change I didn't like about the game - the removal of custom exhibits in the museum.

It's a good thing that the house on Harv's Island is fulfilling our extra decorating needs the custom exhibits in the museum did, as well as the island hut from the GameCube version. But that's what made the museum more exciting.

I was thinking about this the other day and how much I miss it and the observatory. I used mine for all the items I couldn’t fit in my house but wanted to display somewhere. My only thought as to why they removed it is that now that you can place items outside and not just inside maybe they thought it was no longer needed. I had plans for two of the rooms if they had stayed. One would have been a library and the other would have been an observatory..

Okay after about 2 years I am just going to say it and I am going to kick myself in the past for wanting this feature to began with but I am not liking the Villager Visit feature. Hear me out. While it was nice to have villagers visit your home and hang out with you for the first time, over time it just got annoying. I mean I was in the middle of decorating my home and then my villager (Pinky) comes out of nowhwere and enters my home. You are not given the option to say "No" they just let themselves in.

Sure you can just leave the home and they will be away, but as soon as you go back into your home another villager comes by. This is only occuring when you have villagers who at a higher friendship. I would've like this feature better have they just given you the option to say "Yes or No" when a villager is coming to your home to visit. At first I liked this feature when it came out with the 2.0 update and I wanted it, but I guess after a few years it just got annoying. Don't get me wrong it is a great idea it was just poorly executed.

They definitely increased the rate on how often this happens. It's all the time! If they lowered the rate, I wouldn't mind as much.

I am surprised a DND thingy or something of the purpose was never implemented. Talking about NL and NH collectively, I have had a lot of barge ins, like I am not even gonna bother counting...

I've already gotten my first one in New Horizons since restarting my island last month.

I reset New Leaf last night again, since my last town felt off to me, but I know they will eventually start happening. They usually start happening after three weeks of starting the town, maybe a bit more. And something I have noticed about New Leaf...these barge-ins can only happen weekly, though I am not sure if this only pertains to a particular villager, or if they can only be a weekly thing in general.

As for the frequency in New Horizons, I am unsure, but I will keep an eye out. People were saying that you could get multiple barge-ins in the same day (which hasn't happened to me), but I do not know how often a particular villager can barge-in. I reckon it is weekly like in New Leaf.

I have a massive love-hate relationship with this. On one hand, I love having these different interactions with villagers...I just HAAAAATE how these villagers choose to do so at the most atrocious times. Having some sort of DND thing would have been a good compromise.

It is not as bad in New Horizons, since they implemented the build-mode feature from Happy Home Designer and the villagers won't bother you until you exit out of it, but in New Leaf...it is a nightmare to decorate. .__. NTM, they can barge in even though they were already over earlier that day (as long as the first one isn't a barge-in). They can also barge in a night, but this could partain to New Horizons too.

Agreed. I mean, all they had to do is a snippet of code tied to your house light but they probably didn't want people having it turned off constantly and use floor lamps instead. I mean, we can't go in villager houses if their lights aren't on 🙃

Actually, I was kind of wrong in my last post, there is apparently a touch-screen application you can eventually purchase for animal crossing new leaf home expansions, but I’m still a ways away from that point, lol.

exactly, they have do not disturb signs when they are out or sleeping, so why can’t we have them for when we decorate or otherwise wanna get in our house for something and not be disrupted?! >_<

I’m thinking of setting aside my interior decorating for late, late at night (like midnight or past it) for NL and NH. It is still a bit early for me to get barged in on in New Leaf, since I just reset my town this past Monday, but in New Horizons, I’m at the point now.

I cannot confirm or debunk villagers barging in as late as midnight (not yet at least), but I’m hoping they cannot (for neither of these games). That would just be absolutely unnecessary. Getting barged in on at 10 o’clock at night even though the same villager was already over earlier that day is mind-boggling enough (granted, the first visit was scheduled, but still)... and yes, I did deal with that in a previous New Leaf town once.
There is absolutely no reason for villagers to barge in at midnight. But I honestly wouldn’t put it past these mofos… but maybe, just maybe… They have some standards…

To be honest, every main series Animal Crossing game had bad behaviors from villagers that absolutely drives me nuts:
  • In the GameCube Version, they can rudely repaint your roof without permission, have asked for letters as chores, would force give you items you don’t want (even when you say no), and (in case of Cranky or Snooty villagers) would set you up to buying one of five items, where you’ll be forced to buy one of the items.
  • In Wild World, when you accept to hear a nickname, they will force it upon you and spread it without your permission.
  • I haven’t played City Folk very much, but I do remember hearing from others on how they are responsible for grass deterioration.
  • In New Leaf, let’s forget about how animals can move their houses into spots you don’t like. But they would still force give you items you don’t like. They also would ask you useless questions when you’re trying to get more PWP suggestions or ask you to buy from them when they’re considering a gift.
  • In New Horizons, they would barge into your house uninvited. And they’re still force giving you items without you being given the option to refuse. I don’t care if we can discard it right away. If I don’t want the item, then I really don’t want it.

I hate having to look for villagers that I want to talk to. Most times they are not around the island. I check the homes to see if they are there and they are not. Tried to looking in other villager homes, nothing. Wondering around the island searching up and down, they are nowhere to be seen. Check the shops (Able Sisters and Nook's Cranny) they are not there. I checked the Meusum and I found them there. I really wish there was a feature to call villagers to find out where they are. I spent about 20 minutes looking for Mac and then I finally found in the Bug Exhbit.

I hate when this happens. I wish you could just call a villager and they would tell you where they are at. This was an issue in NL too.

I can relate. My luck is whack. I remember back in January on a previous island, I had to catch a sea bass for a Nook Miles+ achievement, but my first fish during that quest was a friggin OARFISH! O____o

Can I just mention real quick that Leif's Weeding Service is utterly useless? I mean, I logged into my backup island today after taking a break from it for two months, and it's riddled with weeds. Leif says there's barely any weeds, and he's on my island! How do you not see the overtly overgrown fields of nothingness???

It just goes to show that there should have never been a minimum weed requirement, as it's way too high and also insanely expensive as it is already. Let us do it whenever, and change the price depending on how many there are, jeez.

EDIT: Picked up 133 weeds just now, and apparently that's not enough. It's a waste of time going all around and doing that much cleanup.

I hear you. This is by far the WORST and most POINTLESS thing added to the game. I mean I don't really know what Nintendo was thinking and they really haven't improved it since it came out. Its been 2 years and they still haven't fixed this.

Also and I just want to vent about this. WHY DO VILLAGERS TREAT YOU LIKE A DELIVERY PERSON WHEN THEY RUN UP TO YOU JUST TO GIFT OTHER VILLAGERS GIFTS?! I am sorry but this bothers me so much because its like they act like you're the "mentor" of solving their problems when they are suppose to be the ones doing it themselves.

Currently annoyed with the spread of catchphrases in New Horizons. The catchphrases I'd be fine with spreading amongst the villagers just end up staying on one villager, and the catchphrases that I just want to have on one specific villager end up being the ones that all of them want to say. Even complaining to Isabelle doesn't do much because they just pick it up again.

I hope the catchphrase spreading is significantly toned down, or preferably just removed completely, in future games. I can sort of understand the appeal of having lingo on your island, I know I've picked up words and mannerisms from friends sometimes in real life, but the way it's currently implemented in this game is really bothersome.

I find it both amusing and annoying. I didn't really like Monique's catchphrase of "Pffft!" so I suggested "Prrrt!" to her instead. Plucky immediately adopted it, but I was confused and thought it was her original catchphrase. I was like, "I guess ANCH describes chicken noises as 'Prrrt!'?" o_O Then, Kitty and Olivia started saying it, but I really liked their original catchphrases. Now Erik the reindeer is saying, "Prrrt!"...

Why does Able Sisters send anything I buy from the dressing room into my storage?? Then I have to trek all the way back to my house to get it out :/ How hard would it be for Mabel to just put it in my inventory!?? smh

You would think after all of these years, they would do a quality of life update, right? You can't craft multiple things at once, you can't buy multiple things at the Able's shop, flowers aren't allowed to be in the storage (even though you could in the past games??), you can't change the location of the plaza, ect.
Also, the general store only upgrades once? Seriously? After all of these years, we've had the same building and no progress... at least let us customize the shop's exterior!! I really wish we had more buildings on the island.. Harvey's Island is neat, but the stock rotates only once a week. If you go there and there's nothing you like, you're basically stuck with it until next Sunday! It would be cool if you could invite some of the people there to your island.

I hope they do a quality of life update for the next anniversary, because there's no reason for the newest game to have features removed from the previous game? I love this game, but I know it can be better.
