We will all be discovering the game together.

When New Leaf came out in NA/EU, JP had already had it with several months. This meant that there were already plenty of guides available for us to look through. I was so hyped for the game to come out that I spent the couple of weeks before the NA release looking over all of those guides. By the time the game came out I was already an expert on all things related to the game.

Truthfully I didn't mind this because I had a very active tumblr that I was very active on and I enjoyed getting questions from people and helping them figure out how to unlock certain shops or get various items.

But with New Horizons I'm really excited about not having any of that info from the get go. I'm looking forward to all of us figuring this out together.

It just makes me wonder if the popular gaming channels on YouTube will get their game early, just like how they did with New Leaf 1 month away from the release date for U.S. Europe and Australia.

So true! I'm actually surprised there is no official guide book getting released this time (unlike for NL), so we'll really have to find all the hidden tips and tricks ourselves/together as a community.

I'd like to know some things, but I'll discover the rest for myself.

People on Twitch had the Luigi Mansion game early.

I'm hoping the digital release goes live at the same time all across the US. That would mean I get to play it at 9p on 3/19.

More than likely that will happen :)

We're all in the same boat and it's like the AC team are letting us experience what it will feel like when we are on a level playing field with our villagers inside the game when we start playing! So awesome (•́ ॣ?̫ ॣ•̀,)՞

They don't do this for any other games, so I don't think they will do it for this release.

Anyway, I am glad to discover everything at the same time but also I would like to know before starting a list of eye shape options and how to get them, instead of restarting until I get the ones I want.

Off topic but it was confirmed that we'll be able to pick things like hair & hair color, eye shape & eye color, skin color, etc. instead of answering questions like in ACNL (and theyre not gender locked!! cant wait to use the purple droopy eye shape as a girl).

On topic, i was thinking about this the other day and im so excited!! usually i like to research everything about a game before & while i play it, which can lead to me losing motivation to play (which sucks for a "play every day" game like ac). im hoping that since everyone is equally clueless i'll be forced to not spoil myself :p

I feel like thats the most painful part of any new game. No one really knows how the new mechanics/features work so you'd have to wait days or even weeks to get a strait forward answer to any questions you might have!

I'm super impatient so rip me but I do like the idea of finding things out as a community though!

Nintendo Support Page says that you'll be able to play digital games 12amET on the game release date. Some third party games might have to wait for the next day.

I live on the West Coast and was able to play digital games at 9pm. For Nintendo games like Pokemon those were released at 9pm. The game was playable when we got home. I don't think they'll have a midnight launch for AC. It's up to Nintendo to decide if there will be one.

They did this for Link's Awakening, and they did this for Pokemon. So yes, in fact, they do this.

Wow okay I live on the East coast and gotta wait for midnight releases to actually, ya know, release on midnight. My bad.

phenomenal point by you, I remember when New Leaf came out the Japanese towns were already pretty advanced and I used to watch Lin and Ko on YouTube while I was waiting for the game lmfao.

Yeah a lot of digital games drop at 9 PST/11CST for those that live in those areas. I've been able to play games at 9PST so that's a pretty neat thing unless you're buying a physical copy and well that feels like hell lol

This is what I love about world wide releases, everyone gets it on the same day and explore it together. Guess the forum will be pretty busy on March 20th, that will be fun.

It just makes me wonder if the popular gaming channels on YouTube will get their game early, just like how they did with New Leaf 1 month away from the release date for U.S. Europe and Australia.

That's a really good question, I didn't thought about this. Now I wonder what Nintendo will do, if those gaming channels gonna get it early that means we will probably get a ton of informations about the game thanks to them before release.

The worldwide release honestly makes me a bit nervous... With New Leaf, it was nice to be able to rely both on official guides and on guides from others who had figured out the mechanics. I mean, there are still things in ACNL nobody is really 100% sure about (or at least that's how it was when I last played, which was probably about a year ago), and who knows what they've changed.

Then again, I think they've generally been trending towards making things easier and more forgiving, so at least there's that. If we can customize our face, and maybe even change it later, then that's one thing that makes me feel a bit better.

Oh don't worry, the game will most definitely leak a week or more in advance. We'll have a ton of unrevealed, or what some might consider "spoilery info", long before the game ever reaches the hands of the masses.

While I'm not sure if we'll get it sooner I'd be soooo tempted to just buy it ASAP on my Switch digitally even though I've already preordered and prefer physical copies :,)... Like if it's 10PM on the eve of the release and it's suddenly available to download I might not be able to resist lol. Even if I have to get up at 5 the next day for all of my Friday commitments... It will be a test of strength.
