And for my birthday (because I like baking so I made my own cake) a dark chocolate rustic cake with home made sour cherry filling:

Wow!~ Love the icing on the first cake, looks super cool! They're both super cute >w<~ Wish I had a friend like this to bake me cakes for my birthday hehe

it's not hard xD youtube and patience and you can make them yourself ^.^ then you can impress all of your friends and drown in beer and cake on birthdays.

I love these I made a chocolate/espresso cake and it tasted amazing.

mmmmmmmmm I love chocolate espresso cake ^.^

the number one tip I have for the perfect chocolate cake is always substitute a bit of the water for coffee. You can't taste it but it mellows the sweetness the perfect amount ^.^

also. Guinness cupcakes are phenomenal.

I don't know how I missed these last couple of updates but yuuuuum! I can't wait until pumpkins are ready here. It was 94 yesterday so I think we've got a couple weeks but I'll be ready.

KBelle, I make my own cakes too it seems  But I don't mind one bit because then I know I'm gonna get something I love and I can lick the spoons. win-win! My birthday is in a week and I'm already recipe scouting for something new. :)

I don't mind it either ^.^ have you tried mybakingaddiction? She has some truly delicous flavours and very moist cakes (as well as the best "cheating" cake recipe everr using box mix)

....sigh....I don't even eat like this anymore :| I'm a poor urban college student and this was just way too much money going to the store every week and buying produce for me and my family. Especially things nuts, or like pure peanut/almond butter, which was like $8-$12 a jar, coconut oil was expensive, and quinoa ohmygod...like 3 cups for like $12!
crazy.

i did feel great eating this way though. but it was way above my budget :/ i still watch what i eat, like i avoid anything that has partially hydrogenated oils, and i will occasionally skip snacks that have MSG or high fructose corn syrup.

Oh yeah. I was obsessed with her Chai cookies last winter. I think I made 4 or 5 batches  Hah! I love chai though and don't usually go for cookies but they were just really unexpected and perfect for coffee dunking. I've not tried any of her cakes though. I will definitely look through them though. I have three upcoming birthdays I'm baking for so I'm hoping to try something new for each.

I recommend Sally's Baking Addiction. I've made a ton of her recipes and I own her cookbook. They're always fantastic.

I think of heard of her! It sounds familiar at least. In just taking a quick look at her recipe list though, I've already found something I need to make. The lemon blueberry cake looks divine! Thanks for sharing :p

Mmm, that smoothie looks delicious! I make juice almost every morning with kale, cucumber, mint, ginger, and then a piece of whatever fruit I have on hand. Sooo good! And I can always use the leftover pulpy bits in my bird's bread so none of it goes to waste.

If you have any local/farmer's markets in your area, you should check them out! We get a CSA box which is really inexpensive and packed with seasonal produce. Also if you have a Trader Joe's nearish you, they have pretty inexpensive coconut oil! And they regularly put it on sale for 5 dollars, then I stock up. I keep one jar in my fridge and one jar in my bathroom at all times-love the stuff! And quinoa can be bought at a health food store for a more affordable price than the little boxes at the grocery. Ours even gives a discount if you bring your own container (it's sold in bulk buy the pound).

But yeah, unfortunately good food can be really pricy which is so discouraging. I don't think it's like that everywhere but I know it's a hot topic in my area at least (central US)

Mmm looking at all the food pictures is making me want to go eat some yummy food right now xd

Sorry, i don't have any, but Omg.I am so hungry now.I want a chocolate eclair and that picture of the mac n cheese in the baked potato looks awesome.I must have the recipe.Great looking food everyone.I will be visiting this topic more often.

I've been getting kale pretty regularly in my CSA box so I've been making all kinds of smoothies and kale chips with them. This was a new recipe I tried about 2 weeks ago and have been re-making it to keep in the fridge every time I run out since then! It's really that good.

Kale and soba noodle salad.

It's because they're high in protein, and actually a much healthier alternative to the various meats humans eat since insects don't really store fat.

I love my meat but I wouldn't mind switching to insects. I haven't had any but I'm very interested in trying it out one day. I'm starting to run out of kinds of meat to try.

Insects aren't that bad once you get past the crunchiness... I still don't eat them though, but they aren't all that bad.

Did you make that, Mariah? Looks good, wondering what flavor it is :D I am partial to cupcakes that have a reasonable amount of topping, and not so much the ones that have more icing than cake.
