The most useless movie you've ever seen

oh man I cannot wait to tell my husband about this thread lol. He and a few of his friends did a short horror movie review podcast and one of the movies was The Open House, and man did they ever hate that movie. It was god awful. Whenever we see a horrible movie, we often compare it to The Open House, as well as another horror movie called Temple. Both very unsatisfactory endings

the first that comes to mind is this netflix movie called "open house" i watched like two years ago. i've literally never seen a worse movie in my life, there was basically no plot, no clear villain, and no proper ending. i still can't get over the fact that i wasted two hours of my life on that movie

i love a good house invasion movie, because why not, i love a mystery and ridiculous horror tropes without it being too serious.... but that one was just ooof. like, i wasn't expecting anything crazy because typically those movies are just for a good fun time, but i didn't even have that. i get that the point was that some serial killers just do it for the sake of it and random and potentially will continue to do so, but if i wanted that i would have just watched a documentary--it would have more depth and background. doesn't translate well with the movie, especially early on they were trying to sell some family drama that ended up being so pointless to the apparently non-existing plot. basically just a bunch of random clues and red-herrings with no conclusion.

John Wick. My then-bf made me watch and I regret like every second...I'll say most of those action gangster films are pretty useless(of that kind of caliber, there are definitely good ones from the genre) and I'd rather spend time on like, basically anything else.

Also always fun to see Swedish actors play Russians 😂

Also let's not forget Sex and the City movies. Like the TV series is one of the worst and they just had to make dumb films... had to watch some during some film class and I questioned my existence lol

I watched a film called "Six-String Samurai" probably 8 or so years ago. It was set in post-apocalyptic America. The main character was seemingly supposed to be Buddy Holly if he had not died in that plane crash and Elvis is the ruler of the habitable remainder of the country. The whole thing is just completely awful and the plot is very difficult to follow.

Another awful movie I saw was Rubber which is about a sentient tire that rolls around blowing things up with its psychic powers. Literally no explanation the entire movie.

I remember watching the movie "Open Water" when it came out, and just thinking "oh...the whole movie is literally just two people in the ocean". Maybe I should go back and try to watch it again now that I can appreciate the sociological implications. But, as a kid in 2004 (or whatever year it was)...that was just about the dumbest movie I can remember seeing. Lol.

I am Number 5

I think this was based on a book, not sure if it was a book series but the ending was a MAJOR cliff hanger and it sucked. Too many unanswered questions and no second movie leading from it. I even googled to see if there was a second movie. I watched the entire thing and felt cheated with that much of a cliff hangar. The entire thing, very beginning to end credits.

There's another movie that for the life of me I can't remember a single detail about except that I had to Google wth the ending meant cause the last few minutes reeeeeeeallly confused me. This was again, another movie I watched very begging to end. Even some other people said 'yeah that ending made no sense and was really confusing'. It was only the ending too, I understood the rest of the movie.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Theif

I think many of us are familiar with how this strayed so terribly away from the original books that literally one small detail ruined the entire movie. THEY NEVER GO ON A QUEST FOR THE PEARLS, THE PEARLS WERE GIVEN TO THEM LATER. This literally shifted the movie so badly it made me mad watching it, and before that point it was pretty accurate to the book except a few minor things which I think we made better on the movie then the book. Until the whole GARBAGE quest.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampires Assistant

This is another movie based off of a series of books, which the books came first. I saw the movie which got me interested in the novels and mangas, and it wasn't until I started reading them that I realized how OFF the movie was from the books. Apparently the movie combines the first 3 books in the series, but even combining 3 books the movie still doesn't follow the books correctly. There are extra characters and missing characters and a different plot than the 3 books.

the room.
not room with brie Larson.
the room.

however, the movie based on the movie was hilarious.

Recently I saw 'Dinner for Schmucks' which was such a waste of time. Even though I like Paul Rudd and Steve Carell this movie was still so unlikeable and tasteless

I think it is an unpopular opinion, but Frozen 2 was a waste of my time. I was curious what the movie would be like as the colours (yes, I know) were really well done in the trailers. So I rented the movie, and oh how it sucked. I feel like the story is bland and underdone, like Elsa got frozen (like Anna did in the original) and no one even does anything. Then she gets unfrozen but I don’t even understand how that happened. My 21-year-old sister recommended it to me but I disliked it so bad. Half the time I was on my phone and laying on the couch in a very unusual position ahaha. I actually can not recommend Frozen 2 in a million years. The original Frozen was actually good though, I was watch that over the second one

Was looking for 'good' Asian horror films on Netflix and stumbled upon the trilogy The Doll, The Doll 2 and Sabrina. An Indonesian horror series by Hitmaker Studios about creepy dolls haunting a family respectively. The production of the first two are terrible, the scares are mediocre, the script is weird (though that could just be due to english subtitle translation) and it's all around just not entertaining. Sabrina, the final of the trilogy at least has a better production value and scripting but it's still lacking. I wasn't exactly looking for anything blockbuster worthy but I was still letdown. If these are considered the peak of Indonesian horror then I dunno else what to think.

I’ve got two, both I watched recently. The first is a movie called The Signal. The whole thing doesn’t make much sense and there’s little to no explanation for what’s happening throughout the entire movie. And then the ending is just plain stupid. The second one is a movie called Extinction. The premise for the whole thing was really, really dumb. Like, they appear to be humans at first, but are invaded by aliens, and it turns out the invaders are the real humans and they’re androids? Really?

But then after that I saw Shazam for the first time and was not disappointed. Now that’s a good superhero movie.

For me it was Twilight (I know, I know...). They really took a really sloppy book and tried to condense it down into 1.5-2 hours, so it turned out even sloppier and more disjointed than the book already was.
Oh my god, yes. I forgot that I even watched that movie. That's how bad it was. LOL

I'm gonna go along with this and say most Disney sequels are a waste of time, save a few.

Pocahontas 2? Lady and the Tramp 2? Freaking 3 Cinderella movies?????

I dont even know the name... It was about this girl who broke her arm and chased a fox in the wiled and there was no talking in it but the occasional “oh no where did the fox go?” And stuff-

Split and A Quiet Place

Both were okay ideas, but very badly executed.

^This. I heard massive hype about both of them and was super excited to see them, but they just...fell flat.

I'm sure many people have already mentioned the terribly useless Disney live-action remakes so I don't need to delve into that. (though I can say, the only one I've seen is the Beauty and the Beast remake because I went to see it with a friend who loves the OG movie, and in case anyone is wondering.... yes, it was awful. I can't sensibly give any more of my money to these remakes.)

I'm not much of a movie-goer, but of all the ones I've gone to see in theaters and never saw again, I think the worst one was Secret Life of Pets. story was not compelling at all, very forgettable plot and characters, the timeline for the movie was confusing and super short from my perspective, and overall I honestly just didn't enjoy it. when I heard they were making a sequel I just said "nope screw that" lol.

I know last time I said it was Devil's Gate but NO I recently watched a movie that tops that, pretty sure it tops most movies people have mentioned so far.... i'm thinking of ending things is such a bizarre movie left up to the viewers interpretation. The best was I can explain the movie is that it's an ABSTRACT psychological thriller.... there is absolutely not point to the movie... don't be like me, don't waste two hours of your life.

Percy Jackson movie. I watched those when I was little and literally was terrified of the movie. Like. Actually. TERRIFIED. I would scream when I went downstairs in my basement cause I hated the movie. And what the heck, I was totally right.

Ender's Game and Eragon were probably the worse book to movie adaptations I have seen so far. Don't watch either of them. Read Ender's Game. Don't read Eragon
